Stang Mode; Thanks for your honesty on mods . I talked to a Ford Performance Engineer on the benefits of long tube headers . His response was the headers will only give your Mustang 10 more HP at wide open throttle . He said the sound will be louder but the factory exhaust is a great flowing exhaust . So is 10 more HP worth say $1700 ? I really don't see how . Thanks again for your video. BULLITT K0040

I agree with what you’re saying because I learned that lesson the hard way. It wasn’t Mustangs, but the situation is the same. It is SO easy to keep modding, and modding, before realizing that you’ve ruined your ride for street driving. And it REALLY sucks if you’re still making payments!

I’m still happy with my 18’ PP1 6-speed lightning blue with the less common 5 spoke wheels the PP1 comes with. On the road I’ve seen most PP mustangs have the black wheels, which do look good, but I prefer the other option 19” that are fairly rare to see.

I agree with most of your list. I did the full suspension routine on my 2014 (Ford Racing Adjustable). Yes it looked better an inch lower but I couldn't drive into half the parking lots around because I'd scrap the chin spoiler. I also ended up with clunks in the back every time i hit a bigger dip in the road and in Pa there are a lot of holes and patches. All this for $2,500 that I never got back at trade-in time. When I got my 2018 I put the money into factory options such as Magniride and tunable exhaust and have left the car pretty much unmolested. The only things I put on it were jacking rails and a passenger side catch can and I'm happy with it with the exception on the black rims. Given time I'll probably replace them. A big reason people put 20s on is because most 19s don't clear the Brembo brake calipers - Shelbys do and that's probably the direction I'll go in.

Completely agree with you on everything. I have a 18 Mustang GT Premie, perf pkg3, active exhaust, magna ride, active wing and track apps and believe it’s a great set up from the factory. The only mod I did was through the dealer to secure the warranty and that was the Roush performance pk 1 which is the cold air intake kit and flash tune. It made a notable difference. I occasionally drive it on track days and enjoy the easy track set up for performance and handling using a couple of switches. It’s a beautiful handling beast with everything I want on road or track.

I agree with headers because of how loud the exhaust becomes and how difficult it is to tame it afterwards AND it means you start looking at blowers only because if you go turbo they have to come out again. I agree about the 20's also but in my case I went with a 315/35/20 so I have just as much sidewall as before and the tire I chose is fairly quiet (conti sport)

I have a great deal more confidence driving in a very spirited fashion on my favourite or any mountain roads with my Shockwerks coil-overs (body roll effectively eliminated) and 20 inch rims (better grip and handling with 275/305 tires)) that the benefits and pleasure received far outway putting up with any downside. Besides that, the black/machined Steeda wheels fitted to my 2018 are very unique in Australia and are an eye/head turner and I regularly get comments on how sexy the car looks - sometimes the 'wow' factor destroys the down side of a mod, and particularly, if the downside is quite liveable and not such a downside even for every day driving.

Did all my mods by me just me. The steeda stop hop kit.installed properly nothing, no nvh, no whine. Perfect since my long tubes drown out any road noise if there was any to complain about. Driveshaft is essential in losing rotation mass and launching hard, just ask the many that broke em to pieces, and lived to tell about it blasting into the drivers compartment. Love the channel and the car and your personality. Just another angle from another 18 perf pack owner with those mods as described. There worth every penny for my taste and driving.. cheers!

Thats one of the lamest things Ive ever read on this channel. More people used to take pride in their cars and do stuff to make it identifiable as theirs. Nothing wrong with that... To each their own. If you like running a stock car that is vanilla like everything else out there, right on.. People def care about modded cars. There is no shortage of car clubs and races these days to prove that. Shit what number fast and the furious movie are they on now? My 18 Mustang GT is my daily. The only mods I have done are Barton Hybrid shifter, Raceseng Weighted Shift knob, Ford Performance X-Pipe (I live in California lol) and Steeda Lowering Springs. I think for the most part I am done. The lowering springs have really helped. Especially, for people that didn’t get magneride. From factory, the ride was too floaty. Sometimes, I would get this weird noticeable hop. Once, I went with the lowering springs, don’t really feel that any more. I think it depends on the wheels regarding 19s or 20s. I recently upgraded my tires and got 20s. Combine that with the lowering springs. The car handles better. Maybe it is a tad harsh. But hardly noticeable in my opinion.

I've mentioned this elsewhere, but here in Australia, the 18/19 only comes pretty much fully loaded, with the only options being Magneride, Recaros, spoiler and special paint/stripes. Dealers only order in the stocker (i.e. with dash, exhaust, leather, B&O, PP etc), or they order them in with all the above-mentioned options (sometimes also omitting stripes). I'm looking at a GT with just the Magneride, so I'll have to wait a few months, but that'll be the perfect setup for me.

I already install the upper front strut bar (a must) and planifiing changing de swea bars and adding de K-member and the rear subframe support braces. Should I stop there? Should I consider lowering it just a little bit? 460 hp is good enough but I would liked her to be more stable in the corners.

Don't want a rough ride or to be scraping the bottom off the car. Mine came stock with 20" rims. I have no issue with the ride or handling and they are sexy AF. I have 20s on my 2017 gt. I will say it did stiffen up the feel of the car a bit compared to factory. I personally like this but I can see why others wouldn’t. What is your opinion on changing out factory for x-pipes or axle backs? 🤔 Thanks for a great video!

Good advice! Don't believe the aftermarket stores videos when they say there is no increase on vibration or noise when doing bushings. They just care about selling you crap. I learned the hard way.

My 18 Mustang GT Premium comes with the factory 20’s the ride is phenomenal. I had a 14 GT and that one came with the Track Pack 19’s and was also a great ride. It had summer tires and when I changed them to a all-season, the comfort went away. So I really have to say it’s the tire vs. the rim.

See, I have a 95 gt with the roush stage 1 sidepipes from factory, just about everything you talked about ( except the 20” rims) are huge helps. Do you have any experience with pushrods? If so, what do you recommend for trying to get to 7 grand rpm, only have mine at 6200.

I agree with headers. I've had them on other cars. My 17 is my first Ford. It's fine if it's your weekend car. Exhausts are money pits. I have a Corsa sport system. Sounds great but I know it didn't add any power. These cars make crazy power with boost and stock exhaust.

My 20's on my 02 rode very well for my daily use. I only encountered a rough ride when I lowered my car and now some of the sounds from the long tube headers kinda vibrate the car. Unlike some, I actually have to have a cCatch Can because I have a KB 2.8LC installed. But I hate having to empty it! Overall I still love my ride. However, it is true that you loose the drivability when you add certain Mods.

Thanks for this. I'm waiting for my new 2022 Mach 1 and might consider some mods. I always thought the same with 20's, nice looking but not worth the rough ride etc. I did not know headers were that much of a pain to install, so I might leave them for now. The only thing I'd add to your list is simply, drive your car stock for six months to get used to a baseline and see how you like it stock. Thanks bud.

Funny I opted for factory 18 on my car for that same reason, plus I am still on stock tune. Waiting on a catch can passenger side only. On suspension upgrade front lower to the PP LCA and invested that money not spent on headers, wheels on an MPVI2 pro and a new laptop. Now I can data-log all day every day any time. and do changes as I see fit..

  • @badfatboy1

Agree with headers. Get a CAI, maybe a throttle body, H or X pipe, high flow bullet cats and if you don't like the stock active valve mufflers (if equipped) then borla or corsa mufflers. Agree with suspension except springs if you get a bit of a sloppy ride. Most dampers don 't hold up well with increased compression, you can actually blow your strut/shock seals, but changing some of the cast links and control arms, heavier panhards and strut towers, etc. to help with control - at ANY speed. Agree with driver's side can unless you're getting really heavy blow by. Unless you're adding a lot of power or want to reduce weight keep your drive shaft as is, they're heavy but strong....

When it comes to mods, you almost have to learn the hard way. Back in the day, I learned the hard way and now I thoroughly enjoy my totally stock 2018 GT, except for the BBQ tick. The Ceratec onlly kept it quiet for a short time, so now I'm just going to live with the tick.
