Without Liszt, we wouldn't have the solo recital as we know it today.

Barenboim was inspired to create a new piano after playing Franz Liszt’s restored grand piano during a trip to Siena in September 2011. Struck by the vital differences in sound of an instrument constructed with straight, parallel strings rather than the diagonal crossed ones of a contemporary instrument, he set out to create a brand new instrument that combines the best of the old and the new and offers a real alternative for pianists and music-lovers in the 21st century.

To the people that ask for more time, this kind of short videos are just for awake the curiosity and another sense of music.. it's not a class, or a guide, it's just a little taste of what you can do if you study and hear the music with attention. 💕
Yes 5 minutes is really too short.

Daniel Barenboim peut tout faire tant il se situe à un niveau remarquable, c'est un immense musicien, pianiste, chef d'orchestre, engagé dans de multiples combats. Il est heureux qu'il nous propose ces rendez-vous hebdomadaire. Merci Monsieur Barenboim.
I wish these could be longer. Thanks so much for sharing.
Like Bernstein, these analyses are the gift of a great master to posterity.
What a marvelous musician. Heard a Beethoven recital at Orchestra Hall in Detroit where time stood still.
Damn this piano sounds amazing :)
Thank you for this video! I would really like to see you talk about Chopin "Ballade No. 1 in G-Minor, Op. 23"!
Just a mention to those truly interested in Liszt, go no further than Prof. Alan Walkers three Books on Liszt, in which he spent over twenty years in pure research and documentation from Liszt early barnstorming Virtuoso years, in which over seven years traveled throughout all Europe and Russia giving concerts from all the past masters, and his compositions to those who would otherwise never have opportunity to see a concert, symphony or opera. It is an amazing story of the music of the nineteenth century, the composers, artists, aristocracy. I know you will enjoy it!
Sr. Baremboim. Muchas gracias por la iniciativa tan maravillosa. Los que disfrutamos con la música clásica ahora tenemos más motivos para hacerlo.
Great seeing this extraodinary pianist talking about one of my favourite pieces !
Thank you for this. I'm a great admire of yours. The love and appreciation of Lizst has been a part of my life. My 95 year old mother studied piano (as a a child) with one of Liszt last students.
What a piece. Thanks maestro.
Thanks ..BELOVED Master Barenboim!
Thank you Maestro and please : more videos!!!
Gracias Maestro!!! Maravilloso.
