HEY THANKS FOR THE SHOUTOUT!! The 5150 is one of my fav amps in the axe fx. It is very different from the 5153s. FYI Only difference between the block letter/script letter is the lettering on the front. The Block had good tubes, and when they were forced to switch to the script, they had to change over to the Chinese tubes which werent as good.

That's not really true. If you get a Block Letter you are more likely to get the Original transformer which had more and deeper bass and more open treble. Also a Block Letter it is very unlikely it will have the updated lead channel circuit. Yeah I've heard James Brown say they're the same amp but I've also heard him talk about the 94' lead channel tweak. He was never aware of the transformers changing as the supplier never mentioned that the transformer changer specs.

When I realized how significant the cab is to tone, was when I finally made the change to modelling. These videos are immensely helpful as I'm just learning to dial in a modeller & holy cow is it more complex than a real amp.

Having to take into account amp, cab, mic, mic pre, post eq... you go from guitar player to audio engineer.

I’m big KSE fan and End of Heartache is one of my favorite metal tones of all time! Such a thick, saturated tone but yet has so much bite and clarity

Love my original Peavey 5150. My main goto Rock/Metal amp. But man, hearing it dialed in in so many ways on an Axe FX 3 and seeing how much there is to dialing in tones with FX in 1 unit really shows off the versatility of a modeler. It’s in the ears. That’s what makes this channel great. Real amps and modelers can coexist in harmony and fun! 👍

YAAAAAASSSSSSSS!!!! Using all your videos to help find some good tones out of my 11R. I wanted to try the modeler thing without spending a grand and I love it. Even though I don't have any Fractal stuff, your videos are still super helpful. Thanks a lot Leon!

I do 646 77 on the tone stack and use tube screamer in helix. They sound really close though. The cab is such a big part of the sound. I'll just pull up the amp and click through cabs until I find the one that gets the tone closest to what I'm thinking about. Then I'll dial in the tone stack and add a boost.

I'd love to see you use this amp block with some really good T75 impulses. I think the extreme mid range of this amp would balance out really nicely with the more relaxed mids of the T75.

I noticed the same thing, though with the "real deal" (i have a 6505+ usa made) it sounded a bit too mid focused for my taste with v30's so i ended up using either an evh 5150III cab with g12evh speakers (re-labeled uk greenbacks) or with a T75 cab, and i like it so much more, though i plan on experimenting with putting in two v30s and two T75s, maybe it would sound cool, maybe it will sound like shit lol. but I'm hoping it would just become a bit more "punchy" while retaining the T75 character.

is the grinder boost based on the fort in grind? Sounds like it might be doing something similar. I’m really thinking of getting the little fractal unit whenever that thing actually gets released. It’d just be after I get the ceriatone 2204.

@@LeonTodd thx for the quick answer :) I try to replicate this sound but your guitar simply kills my ones :) Burny RR with suhr Aldrich, Charvel Duplantier with SH4, Ibanez PWM20 with Mojotone Hornet, but your sound has more clarity and bite. Congrats to your valuable work, it keeps me constantly fighting for better tone s :)
