HEY THANKS FOR THE SHOUTOUT!! The 5150 is one of my fav amps in the axe fx. It is very different from the 5153s. FYI Only difference between the block letter/script letter is the lettering on the front. The Block had good tubes, and when they were forced to switch to the script, they had to change over to the Chinese tubes which werent as good.

That's not really true. If you get a Block Letter you are more likely to get the Original transformer which had more and deeper bass and more open treble. Also a Block Letter it is very unlikely it will have the updated lead channel circuit. Yeah I've heard James Brown say they're the same amp but I've also heard him talk about the 94' lead channel tweak. He was never aware of the transformers changing as the supplier never mentioned that the transformer changer specs.
When I realized how significant the cab is to tone, was when I finally made the change to modelling. These videos are immensely helpful as I'm just learning to dial in a modeller & holy cow is it more complex than a real amp.

Having to take into account amp, cab, mic, mic pre, post eq... you go from guitar player to audio engineer.
I’m big KSE fan and End of Heartache is one of my favorite metal tones of all time! Such a thick, saturated tone but yet has so much bite and clarity

Modern classic, still sounds great today.
cheeky marigold in there, nice
Every time I see the title to this video series, I can't help but think of Pantera...FIVE MINUTES O' TONE!

Love my original Peavey 5150. My main goto Rock/Metal amp. But man, hearing it dialed in in so many ways on an Axe FX 3 and seeing how much there is to dialing in tones with FX in 1 unit really shows off the versatility of a modeler. It’s in the ears. That’s what makes this channel great. Real amps and modelers can coexist in harmony and fun! 👍
Been trying to dial in tight metal sounds, had no idea about the input boost trick! Will SO be using that!
YAAAAAASSSSSSSS!!!! Using all your videos to help find some good tones out of my 11R. I wanted to try the modeler thing without spending a grand and I love it. Even though I don't have any Fractal stuff, your videos are still super helpful. Thanks a lot Leon!
1:44 stock setting 4:55 tone adjust
Ooh nice little bit of merigold in that jam haha. Amazing tone man
Thanks for this series Leon! It has really helped me dial in tones! I liked your explanation of setting the cab and amp blocks.

Can you tell I've been watching a lot of cooking vids?
Jesus that’s some sweet tone. Good stuff as always
These videos are very well produced man, and have a lot of good information without too much fluff. Great job. Hopefully I can get some good sounds.
Love those 5150s👍👍
These are so awesome dude. Thank you! Any chance for your take on the Orange RV models? Those can be pretty brutal!
Definitely thinking of this or the line 6 pod go
I love the Adam D reverence. Very true
I do 646 77 on the tone stack and use tube screamer in helix. They sound really close though. The cab is such a big part of the sound. I'll just pull up the amp and click through cabs until I find the one that gets the tone closest to what I'm thinking about. Then I'll dial in the tone stack and add a boost.
God that sounds great. 💝👍👍👍👍💝
Very nice Leon! Out of curiosity, when you're dialing in these tones, how loud are you typically playing?
Did you get bit by a venomous Australian creature?? That bandage looks serious! ;) Cool video as always. Gonna experiment with the PVH model tonight.

Luckily it's just a mole that I scratched. Pesky little thing wouldn't stop bleeding!
I'd love to see you use this amp block with some really good T75 impulses. I think the extreme mid range of this amp would balance out really nicely with the more relaxed mids of the T75.

Good point about T75's. I should shoot some IR's of my T75 cab

I noticed the same thing, though with the "real deal" (i have a 6505+ usa made) it sounded a bit too mid focused for my taste with v30's so i ended up using either an evh 5150III cab with g12evh speakers (re-labeled uk greenbacks) or with a T75 cab, and i like it so much more, though i plan on experimenting with putting in two v30s and two T75s, maybe it would sound cool, maybe it will sound like shit lol. but I'm hoping it would just become a bit more "punchy" while retaining the T75 character.
ÝEAH!!! BAD ASS FUCKING HOSTILE MAN!!! THANKS!!!
5150 is always best \m/
I have a block original peavey 5150. What are some settings you like on it? I am using a ts808 with Mesa recto 4x12 vin 30s
PVHaitch = awesomeness 🤘
Can you do this for Line 6 HX Stomp? I have bad time tweaking this model in Helix named PV Panama.
I just got an fm3 are all tones compatible with tones made for an axe fx 3? Or older models?
is the grinder boost based on the fort in grind? Sounds like it might be doing something similar. I’m really thinking of getting the little fractal unit whenever that thing actually gets released. It’d just be after I get the ceriatone 2204.

Yes indeed!
I just got an AXE-FX III today so stoked to do some of these, but every time I follow along my tones sound so weak in comparison and I don't know why?

I completely agree.....I copy them exactly and they sound entirely different
Side question -- those PRS non-adjustable bridges work for other tunings aside from standard and other string gauges? It still intonates okay?

I've got 10-52's in Drop C on this and my Mccarty and once set up they work just fine
Hey Leon thx much for the video! Can you pls tell what string gauges you are using in this video, and what type of pickup your prs has?

@@LeonTodd thx for the quick answer :) I try to replicate this sound but your guitar simply kills my ones :) Burny RR with suhr Aldrich, Charvel Duplantier with SH4, Ibanez PWM20 with Mojotone Hornet, but your sound has more clarity and bite. Congrats to your valuable work, it keeps me constantly fighting for better tone s :)
1:00 - "Well done" is an oxymoron. Medium rare, please.

Exactly!
I think the first drive pedal was way better. The grinder made it all muddy and harder to hear the guitar.
sounds the same in fm3?
