I have a 4 year old and a cesarean my first birth and now doing a completely natural birth. I absolutely agree choosing your provider is the most important. I had a terrible experience with my daughters ob and now have an amazing ob who is completely supportive and I feel taken care of. Thank you for your video it raised alot of points for me.

These are great tips, as someone who couldn't afford and didn't want extra people in the room I just wanted to encourage any mamas that you can do it. If you want a natural unmedicated labor in the hospital you can do it! I can only speak from my experience but I was able to do it 3x hopefully the next one (if we get another child) will be a home birth but if you want the tips I used for a natural hospital birth I recently shared a video on this ❤️ congrats mamas!

I’m weighing my options for my next pregnancy. My first pregnancy was great - no complications. But I had an unexpected c-section with my first baby 6 months ago due to his head was facing as though he was trying to get out face first(not sure of the term for that). I can go back to the midwifery group at the hospital where I went the first time or I can choose a midwife that does at home births. I’ve not had a consultation yet with her, but initial phone call and brief explanation of first delivery, she seemed willing to help me with home birth & wanted to schedule consultation. I’m not sure if it is wise for me to try at home, but I would love to. What is your opinion?

Two days before the scheduled induction they freaked out about my blood pressure (which had been fine my whole pregnancy and only spiked at 39 weeks) and they bullied me into inducing two days earlier than planned. Then when the induction didn't work for after two and a half days (because the nurses were awful and borderline abusive and I was not comfortable or supported) they gave me a c section for "failure to progress" Thankfully it's over and I have a beautiful healthy little boy!! And I can learn from my traumatic experience and hire a doula if there is a next time. Would have been nice to have someone to advocate for me against the abusive nurses!

I regret hiring a dula:( she didn’t come to support me till after I delivered via c section 28h later because she said I wasn’t in “active labor” (is that even a valid reason for a Dula?) so I had to go through the whole list of interventions after my water broke at home and I went to the hospital. It was super disappointing to hear her say that over the phone while I was being pumped with petocin and struggling with contractions that never lead to anything. Then due to baby’s heart rate going up I was pretty much left with no choice but to go with c-section. This time around I am educating myself so I can advocate for myself better and make better choices.

Very helpful, I had my midwifery stripped away from me due to Australia's stringent Gestational Diabetes (much more stringent than the rest of the world with how they diagnose, and thus women like me who would not meet the standard in any other country in the world are forced to go through the system and not allowed to have a midwifery based birth centre) standards, and the medicalization that is being pushed on me despite being 'only just' in Australian standard GD diagnosis is driving me nuts. I'm pregnant, not sick, and an arbitrary number to force more women into the system so more women can be monitored for research purposes rather than actual medical needs to me is reprehensible and unscientific medical practice. I'm trying to learn how to be more assertive so I can say no to unnecessary treatments, but a doula may be something I will look into investing in to help advocate for me in labour.

So upset for my Daughter! Her one doctor wanted to induce at 38 weeks. She talked them into 39 weeks. It could be a bigger baby. Monday she went to L&D and by 9pm induction started. (The particular drug could cause hypertension) By Tuesday afternoon there was 80% effacement, 0 dilation, -1 station. By Tuesday evening her blood pressure is high and they gave a medication for that and they used a balloon to attempt dilation. Baby went sunnyside-up. Here we are after 2am Wednesday morning and she's exhausted, in pain, little progress and wants an epidural. Our hospital "pandemic" guidelines are only 1 support person. This is her 1st birth. How can these induced births even BE a good thing??!
