Like the guy said about Chelsea boots, not everyone can pull off everything. I think you have to have an inherent style that monk straps can come in too rather than just putting them on. They would be too loud for my style and would look too obvious/try hard on my part. But I know others who pull them off and no one would question it.

Agreed friend, and well said. All too often we fall at the feet of some designer or trend/fad that before we know it has us under it's spell. I mean think about it ? How often have many of us followed a certain trend, not because it's trendy as much as saying to ourselves...... I could pull that off ! And before you know it.....BAM !! Your rocking what's current, and on the fashion treadmill. No a bad thing. It's just harder to escape than most think. Mind you, this is the mindset of an older (50+) individual, who is considered somewhat trendy. It's kind of an anything goes era in the world today. P.S.... I had the pleasure of meeting Ashley at the NY premiere of BLACK PANTHER. She happen to be the star's stylist (He looked incredible) I complimented her, and told her I followed her work. She asked my name,shook my hand and thanked me. She was a Gem. JB

Guys I honestly think that she doesn't deserve all the hate you give her. I mean, sure, maybe some of her picks are not for most of us, but she's saying things from her point of view, as a girl and as someone who works in this industry. I may or may not agree with something she says but she's entitled to her opinion, and there's no need to hate her for that, or say that women only crave guys with money and stuff like that, we as men don't have to be rich to look good, but we just need to take care of ourselves. I don’t think it’s cool to make sexist or hateful comments just because, or even if they are meant to be constructive criticism they should be written better.

One that name is vague does it means she's a celebrity or does she style celebrities. Two she spoke with authority which she has as she is a woman but she doesn't have any authority in mens style. Well my style is not much casual leather sneakers or penny loafers, but i have two pairs of chelseas and three of dress shoes. And this weekend i will buy a good pair of Lace-up boats.

Though I can agree with most of this list, you two seem rather reserved in your fashion. Black, brown, and grey. Basic silhouettes with a general lack of fun, this feels more like a list to dress up for a job interview.

I’ve worn penny loafers for decades, since my high school days. I’m more likely to wear them when dressing up than even classic lace-ups. I think they dress up or down more readily than most shoes.

Sad that work or shitkicker boots weren’t mentioned. That’s all I own besides 2 pairs of flip flops. I live in Florida so there’s no seasonal fashions down here. I have a pair of sneaker I got like 5 years ago I now use as wading shoes

Men can get away with maybe 5-6 pairs of shoes if they choose wisely colors and styles which would make them appropriately dressed for all occasions. 1 pair of oxfords for that suit look you need once in a while, 1 pair of loafers/monks for slightly more casual look (dress pants/chinos maybe dark non-distressed denim), 1 pair of luxury minimalist sneakers like CPs, 1 pair of lace up boots or Chelseas/Chukas and then another pair among the group I've listed for the ones you wear most often (like ones you wear to work) - so if you work where you need dress pants, then get another pair of loafers/monks/derbies, if you wear suits then get a second pair of oxfords. You need that 2nd pair to alternate between the first so it allows your shoes to dry from the moisture, which will prolong its life. You can get a lot more pairs, but what I've listed is the minimum IF you want to look appropriately dressed for all occasions.

Although I am one generation older than the presenters, I typically agree with AW on the basics of menswear. Here are two areas where I disagree: First, some of the suits look too much like Pee-Wee Herman's suit. They appear to be too tight. The second is relevant to the video. I grew up in Arizona, and I've been around sockless men in loafers. After a while, the shoes stink. I mean they reek. Even just seeing some guy going sockless with shoes I can almost smell the aroma of foot stink and leather rot.
