Don't use K&N oil filters with a nut on the end. The welds fail and oil ends up all over the rear tyre which can prove fatal. Also don't over lube the chain as excess oil can end up on the rear tyre. Make sure the brake pistons are moving freely and smoothly and the brake fluid is not out of date.

A tank slapper can happen in a brand new bike. . . My KZ-650 C1 from 1977 did it at the third gaz tank, , , It did it 3 times in the 2 years I had it allways in curves and acceleration hard. . .

Maintaining a good healthy bike will make the changes less likely. Brakes, tyres and the chain can also be brand new and snap/break/explode.

I prefer the chain a bit tight, to get that small amount of reartyre lock up when downshifting heavily, to get some rear breakout before the turn. Obviously, this is something not everyone prefers, and not suitable for every single motorcycle. But it is fun :)

A chain that is too tight is just as dangerous as one that it is too loose, worn out or has stiff links.
