20 years ago Benchmade was top of the line and people absolutely loved them. Unfortunately in today's market it's hard to justify price vs what you get. SO many better options out there.

at this point in the company’s career, their prices are for ego. Just to be able to claim “we are the premier USA Knife Company. The price means high class.” which is completely delusional if its true given the current knife market

Honestly I feel like 350 is WAYYYYYY too much as is for what you're getting. Luckily my Benchmade habit stopped around 5 years ago. Almost picked up a freek recently but decided to pick up a Ritter Hogue instead. Once I got the Doug Ritter i was IMMEDIATELY hooked. Everything about his hogue lineup is perfect in my eyes and now own 4, soon will be 5 when my jade automatic arrives.

@TerminalM193 I think 350 is fair as it's comparable to the price of a titanium WE knife. It's a bit more, but it's also USA made and their warranty is great.

@@legoking5499 I agree. $350 would have been a very solid price for the Narrows. I would have bought one. Love USA made knives. Spyderco and Protech split my Benchmade money the last several years.

Agreed on almost everything. Not paying $600 for the limited Seven Ten, and the production one is supposed to have S90V for $400, which is completely asinine imo. Have and love my mini auto Adamas, but I got the cru-wear version and it’s just fine. No need to spend the extra money for Magnacut on that one. Shootout is nice I’m sure, but I’m hesitant to spend that much on grivory, when the main point was a lighter material for a folder like the bugout, not an otf. Honestly, I’ll probably get the serrated claymore. I like the look of it. Narrows just isn’t happening. I have a large Sebenza 31 tanto that was actually like $50 cheaper. I’ll keep my resale value over some thin M390. Great video!

I carry the large Adamas everyday as a work tool. Out of all the tools I use daily I use this knife the most deployed from my pocket, from cutting electrical tape, mule tape and pull strings and opening stuff. It is amazing. My wife brought me a mini Claymore for our 20th wedding anniversary and it just feels so different because of how light the handle is. The Claymore is my go to everyday carry when not working. I am addicted and can not decide on my next Benchmade.

Omega springs breaking on me has been a constant issue with my benchmades. It seems as though benchmade realizes this and it’s why some of their newer models are moving away from the omega spring. Maybe when they have revamped their entire line to include locks which don’t go half power on you out of the blue I’ll consider buying one again but for now I’ll stick with brands that have locks that don’t fail on a whim.

  • @jdisdetermined

I hear alot about omega springs breaking, so I know it happens. But it's never happened to me. I have a dozen crossbar locks. The oldest being an original Coldsteel Recon1, when it was a crossbar lock. I bought it in 2002, daily carried it for over a decade and beat the hell out of it. Still use it many times a year. Probably been opened and closed literally a *million* times. I fidget alot. Original springs. Bugout is the same way.

Then the claymore came out and that’s the one that really bothered me. 360 dollars for a CPM-d2 and grivory handle otf…..nah. M390 Microtech with aluminum handles made in USA less than 300, kershaw otf with magnacut like 260ish made in USA……I just can’t. Love the design but god with inflation and everything I can’t afford what I used to. Pure Benchmade fanboy here. Super freek, Bugout, Nakamura, Griptilian, etc. Yet, they've completely lost the plot. Their pricing, Qc, and customer service, in my opinion, is the worst from an American made company. Id love for them to be back to where they were about 10 years ago. We have to let our wallets speak for us.

Only don’t like the narrows due to cost that’s one knife that price truly effects desirability maybe should mention how overpriced they are. Ridiculously expensive but a wonderful knife. Just not worth it to me.

I will never buy a benchmade again. They are the bullies of the knife world. Also, the bugout is too light for me, i like a knife that I can bet my life on.

That's right. I won't buy them, because Benchmade knives are ridiculously overpriced for what you get.

Nah, Talon has had high end and actually nice knives. There's 0% chance he would reccomend a Benchmade if it weren't for sponsorship

No sponsorship but I wish because they make great knives and are generally easy to recommend.

BM is not the same brand they once were. They have turned into a fashion brand. Great marketing for overpriced products with subpar materials.

Another Benchmade victim here. They are good knives as long as they are given to you and you don't screw yourself over paying that high msrp , or even map price. Only buy them on sale or with military discount. There is absolutely no value paying full price for a Benchmade , and Spyderco is not far behind. I have to credit Microtech knives and Rick Hinderer knives for not price gouging folks with nutty inflation of pricing.

Fuck benchmade, bought the benchmade and it fails so much in comparison to a $40 Kershaw. Never again, buy Spyderco, Kershaw, Fox, anything else will do

Mentioning the price of the knife should always be mentioned. There’s a big difference in mentioning and talking about the price of a knife.

Made in USA sounds great, but can't back up the quality claims at comparable prices anymore. You can't justify most Benchmade prices.
