Im fascinated by dante's inferno, and I always loved seeing Gustave Dore's illustrations in analysis videos - might pick up that art book.

I have the 2022 kim jung gi sketchbook collection and his work is just truly masterful. Hopefully I'll be able to add to my own artbook collection when I'm less broke. Thanks for all the recommendations!

Interesting that Keane brought up direction from life. Since he has aphantasia, alot of the scenes hes done in films like The Little Mermaid were incredibly drawn from life. Really cool to find someone who inspired him.

Great diversity of inspiration there ! Maps of the mind and Making toons to sell seem like goldmines, and I agree as creatives we need to look towards many pools of fields & studies to enrich our creativity.

Thank you so much for this list! Honestly I have no idea how but I was recently just thinking about getting a habit on reading books. I’ve been reading mangas but usually it’s difficult to get into books and I was going into this new year wanting to read at least one normal book. I was definitely interested by the first one (the one you are currently reading)
