    Hey Brian! Nice stuff as always. Do you know if is there a way to align one object to another during a range of frames? (typical situation, you have made a walk cycle moving the master control and your feet are sliding because your master translation doesn´t match feet translation) I´m a maya user and there are several tools like animbot that let you do this. It would be great also to see a space switcher for poses or animations and a picker editor !! :D Thanks!

    Thanks for condensing that info for us. Got a question, when creating poses for the library do you have to start out in a neutral pose in order for the slider to work?

  • @BrianKouhi

    @BrianKouhi

    7 ай бұрын

    Hey James, all you need is to have keys on all the controllers you want to save as a pose. There's no limitation on whether it's from a neutral pose or not, you could go from one extreme pose to another, as long as they both have keys on all the controllers used. Hope this helps!

    Hi Brian, i saw many improvments on the rigging workflow in Blender 4.0, so may I ask if you have any plans on a advanced rigging course as sugested in the video of Max rigging showcase?

  • @BrianKouhi

    @BrianKouhi

    Hey, we definitely are. We were in the planning and scripting stage, but now with all of the new features we've scrapped the previous course and are working on a Blender 4.0+ version of a comprehensive rigging course, taking full advantage of all the new features Blender offers. Course creation unfortunately is very time consuming, and so we likely won't be ready for release for about a year or so.

    Thanks for this awesome video! Do you know if there is a way to save an animation in the library and re-import it on the same character in a different shot? I'm a Maya user, and I use Studio Library where you can save poses and also anim. This is a very useful tool because I can re-use full body animation (or selected limbs) and duplicate them as many times as I want. I have tried to do that in Blender, but I can't figure out a way to do it.

    Hey, great question! There currently isn't a "Studio Library" version of an addon for Blender that I know of, but I believe it's something they're looking to implement in the future. That being said, with Blender, you work with actions. So each animation you create can be saved under a different action and named accordingly. If you have a rig with similar proportions and name spacing, you can actually import the actions you have saved from one file, into another and apply them to your character there. So: 1) Save animations as different actions in file 1 2) Append/import the actions you need into the new file 3) Apply those actions to your character It doesn't work exactly like studio library, but it's sort of similar. Hope this helps. *Edit, I'll actually make a video on this since I'm sure a ton of other animators wonder the same thing. I have 2 videos currently in the making, so it might come out in January.

    hey, this is a super random question but: I've noticed the manipulators in your viewports, they have these really great thick lines for selecting- ie, rotation for example. How do you achieve that in blender, is this an add-on of some kind? (as seen around 7:00) the extremely tiny hard to select manipulator handles are super annoying, so if there's a way to change them I gotta know!!!

  • @BrianKouhi

    It's a built in option actually! In Edit -> Preferences -> Interface, change the "Line Width" option to Thick and you should be good.

    @@BrianKouhioh oh wow! I may be doing it wrong, it increases ALL the lines in Blender UI 😵‍💫 is there a way to do it JUST for the manipulator, by any chance??

    All the updates are interesting, but I think many of them should have been implemented in Blender already. Anyway, great progress :)

  • @BrianKouhi

    You're not wrong, I think most of these were planned to be implemented in the previous years, aside from the pandemic, I'm sure there's other good reasons for why they couldn't push them through.

    Not sure if you are going to read this, but I absolutely love how bright are your controller bones!! how do you manage to get them to look like that? :) Is it an addon? Thanks in advance!

    I haven't touched any color settings but I have my controllers set to thick. In preferences (can't remember which tab exactly atm), but there should be an option on the top called something like "line width" which you can set to THICK.

    4:18 Pressing alt to edit selected items is counter intuitive, why you would select them in the first place? In every editor from pictures to game engine you edit selected items. At least they did it, great anyway, may be one day they get rid of fake users.

    did they improved the preview render for complex animations in order to preview it in the target FPS like 30 or 60? Even reducing the stuff in the viewport to the minimum and toggling some off we struggle to preview a fluid animation... Or even something like Maya's Playblast would be great, Playblast renders fast..

  • @BrianKouhi

    @BrianKouhi

    7 ай бұрын

    Hey, turning on Simplify always helps with performance (having the viewport at 0 subs and render at max). Alternatively you create a separate scene inside the same Blender file to animate your character in, then switch back to the main scene with the set and props that you may have. In terms of 'Playblasting', it's been here since 2.8. All you have to do is set your folder location in "Output", then go to the camera view you want to playblast and go to View -> Viewport Render Animation. Most animation files run very slow, especially when there are multiple characters, props and sets. In most productions animators mainly rely on playblasts to see their animations because it's near impossible to get 30+ fps real-time feedback in heavy scenes.
