Bleday does have an excellent strike zone eye. With that asset, I wondered if good coaching wasn't what he needed. As a Marlins fan, I thought at the time of the Puk trade that the team really gave up on him so quickly. Puk had a great first half, so everyone congratulated Kim Ng. With Puk's injury proclivity, I think you're right that the jury is still out.

I am glad someone agrees with me on Bleday. I think he's a tweak away from being very good. I like Puk and was big on him as a reliever. As a starter he feels like an almost guaranteed injury risk. Both teams could still win this deal with the right move

@@3up3down Yes. I hate to be a downer, but I figure Puk for his usual IL stint(s). Players with injury proclivities don't seem to change that vector. Hence, Bleday could be a steal for the A's. Ciao.

@@thomasjoseph3488 I hope all the best for both of them.
I watched a lot of Yankee games last season and thought Volpe was too enamored with the HR. Situational hitting was really absent. Perhaps with Soto, a healthy Judge, and a decent Stanton rebound, Volpe feels less pressure to swing for the long ball all the time. He must get that average up in the .250 range, IMO.

He's done it in the minors. I think when he looks to use the whole field his swing looks great. I would think that would improve as he matures.

@@3up3down That's true, so I was surprised by the power he showed in his first year. Especially with the pressure he had to feel with the New York City/Yankee vibes/Jeter legacy triumvirate.

@@thomasjoseph3488 such a huge pressure spot. He's handled it well. I liked his defence

@@3up3down He really surprised me on defense, not having a classic shortstop cannon arm.
