    Hi Lucy. You need to fasten your seat belt for the handbrake to release. Love your vids.

    Haha, when I got my Volvo I could not understand why the handbrake would not release as described, then I soon worked out you need to be wearing your seatbelt to move off. Super Volvo safety!

    Hi Lucy, Loved the video - Volvo fanatic here!!! The mirrors when reversing you can choose which one goes down when reversing with it in reverse when you click the mirror control switch, the parking brake does auto release when you've got your belt on and the neutral switch doesn't have any effect on settings - very useful if your aux belt snaps and you need to roll your car away from the roundabout, ask me how I know this 😂 Another weird feature is the key, you can start the car with the key in the slot and then take it out after and then drive without it being there

    Were you wearing your seat belt when you pulled away from home, and were you wearing it when you demonstrated the handbrake thing? Couldn’t tell from the camera view but thought that might be case?! And thank you for your thing on men’s mental health, particularly apt at the moment, having just been in residential treatment! Really great that you’ve raised it!

    For the brakes to disengage you need to have the seatbelts on then select drive and take off and the park brake will disengage

    Thanks Lucy, I didn't know about folding the mirrors on! Every time I went to the Car wash, I would switch off the Car and sit motionless in case I set off the Alarm! I can now wash the car with Mirrors folder :) Thanks you so much for the wonderful video

    I had an S80 a while ago. All these "features" are in the Driver's Manual. I think the point is (and you made it clearly without having to mention it) most people don't bother to read the instructions. It's as if buyers think that the manuals are only there if something goes wrong. I was taught to ALWAYS read the manuals before driving the car regularly. They really are important; and Volvo manuals are some of the best around. Good video, you did well. Except the electric parking brake. Your seat belt has to be fastened for the auto-release to work, it's a typical Volvo safety feature. I'm not certain about the 2011 cars, but my S80 had an automatic brake system that applies the parking brake when the car is stationary for more than 5 seconds but in "drive". For instance, at traffic lights etc.. Of course, you'll be aware that, from 2005, all automatic cars have transmission release systems fitted. Keep 'em coming.

    Another useful feature (it’s on my 2003 and 2014 XC70s) is the ability to fold the front passenger seat backrest forward. From the rear seat, if you look at the base of the passenger seat ahead there is a small lever each side, they both need to be pressed (or pulled, can’t remember which) and the backrest can then be tipped forward.

    Hi Lucy, always entertaining. My Lexus LS430 has alot of those features, except the door mirrors wont tilt down anymore when I put it in reverse, they used to but stopped, darn annoying lol All the very best... Nick in Wolsingham.

    I have an Audi that used to do that, and now doesn't. No idea why. The mirrors still adjust manually just fine!

  • @g0fvt
    @g0fvt4 ай бұрын

    I have the XC70, to be honest the mirror tilting when in reverse soon got switched off, they tilted too far. Only once did I have to use the folding mirrors to get through a narrow gap. As others have pointed out the parking brake auto release does need the seatbelt to be used. These cars do have quite a lot of other toys, mostly sensible ones. The "service mode" for the wipers lets you change wiper blades without scratching the edge of the bonnet with the wiper arms. I live in a rural area where it is extremely dark at night, some of the lighting features get used a lot, saves tripping over on the way to or from the car.

    Hi Lucy. I've got a 2011 XC70 with the 3.2 motor - I really enjoy the car. I've found the best way to test the reversing with the door open feature is to have the mother-in-law stand behind the car. If you want to try something with a little more oomph, try to get your hands on a car with the T6 motor - and just hang on while you enjoy yourself. Nice reviews!!
