It seems you can change the skins for the auto hatchery specifically if you go in and favourite the skins you want to use, then you can go back to the auto and use them. It feels like it may just need some UI changes more than anything to work properly.

I have little hope for Gigantoraptor to get hunting animations, but I'm confident we'll eventually get to choose skins in automated hatcheries. I NEED to be able to choose skins!

If you favorite certain skins, then set it to random favorite and release a batch, the autohatchery will only pump out facorites. Unfortunately, it won’t save your edited genes, which sucks cos I really rely on those for a functioning ecosystem.

I feel like it should’ve been called the “Cretaceous Carnivore pack” because the Gigantoraptor can’t hunt in this game which is so disappointingly inaccurate they just made it a big Oviraptor that can fight and kill other carnivores. How are my guests supposed to get the same ptsd experience as me from playing Carnivores dinosaur hunter?

Dude the gigantoraptor from carnivores is the scariest thing ever

While Gigantoraptor not hunting was a letdown, at least it does feed on the bodies of its slain enemies and other carcasses lying around. Hopefully we do get hunting later on. Really do need guests sitting on the seating decorations, even if they just spawn on them when you place them.

My biggest negative is how the Utahraptor cannot hunt mid to larger prey, especially Sauropods, when out of all the Dromaeosaurs in game it is the most likely to have done so. Yet, the tiniest carnivores can still do it. How utterly bizarre.

One thing I would like when they do another update; is that they should make the sauropods not so easy to kill for the bigger predators. I mean they have those long whip like tails, and massive feet for a reason.

I know it has long been a meme that "Jurassic Park" is filled with Cretaceous species, but the occasional Jurassic Pack would be great.

It's kinda good that they included The Lost World skin for the Pteranodon. Now we need the JP3 skin. And what's missing is the Triassic DLC 'cause it is a time where the world was filled with weird dinosaurs.

If you click synthesise dinosaur and select to have random favourites for a chosen species, then pick that species for automation, it should release only your favourited skins. Some people have said it doesnt work but it works for me at least

Also a noticeable bad thing about this dlc, is the complete and utter lack of Tarbosaurus' iconic clicking from the show outside of the hatchery. I think that's an absolute waste of potential, and I really hope they change that sooner or later.

This pack is good. The update is awesome! I love all the new skin variants for the movie designs and presets for maps now! This might be my favorite update yet!

I personally think to make auto hatcheries better they should put a "No traits or traits?" Button. This would be good because now we can make our dinosaurs either have traits or have no traits. And to make things better. It will also ask "Pick skin with or without traits?" And you can always change it back to normal on how it regularly works ( no traits random skins ) I think this would be good for the game But that's just my opinion!

I definitely agree on the good and bad things for the stuff we get around the Cretaceous Predator Pack and the latest update here. Like for the good, the new variant custom colors and the auto hatchery thing. Always nice to get different colors that we can customize. And I don't have to go back to the hatchery without noticing the dinosaur in a specific exhibit dying or something. As for the bad, guests unable to use the benches and they're just there as decoration instead of actually using them like in other Zoo Building game? Very disappointing. And also being in the Cretaceous again. We really want to see other time periods in the Mesozoic era besides the Cretaceous. Otherwise, we might as well call this Cretaceous Park/World or something. Hopefully Fronter keeps on listening to us players and fans of the game and continue to make efforts to what we say about the game and stuff.

I have no issues with having a cretaceous pack again, especially considering how great the dinos look and how all 4 of them are highly requested species. As long as they make packs themed around other periods eventually i don't see a problem with it. Also benches not being used shouldn't be a surprise at this point :P

Agree on everything mentioned, and based on past updates I think the next update will fix all of these

You can choose the skin for the auto hatcheri, first you go to normal release than choose for the dino of your choice random favourite skins and than go to auto and the dino will have the random favourite skins of you choice

Always interesting to hear your thoughts! Seems a very fair review, and I definitely agree with some things needing little adjustments/fixes. Overall I still like the update and love some of the things it gave us! Someone please give BIS a Postosuchus!

The automation QoL is definitely my favorite so far, QoL in general is just so underrated among games.

Honestly i kinda wish frontier could just move away from dinosaurs for a bit. And start making packs for non dinosaurs. Not only would it be nice to make dimetrodon and lystrosaurus stand out less. An aquatic and flying pack would also be a good way to make frontier start prioritizing the updates to those areas more

As dedicated as Frontier are to this game I'm sure they'll fix the hunting problem and the trash can and benches not being used properly. Honestly Frontier is a wonderful game development company. They're constantly listening to their fans and adding new and exciting things to the game. I'm hoping for many more updates in the future

6:19 I can agree on that, how come frontier always keeps bring in more Cretaceous animals in the roaster, do they know that we already have enough Cretaceous animals in the game right now? Also BestInSlot, there's is no mid cretaceous. I really want more animals from the Jurassic period, or Triassic, or even outside of the Mesozoic era like where's the smilodon. while except their is just one more cretaceous animal that needs to be in the game and that is the microceratus (which is canon), where is it too as well. In future updates like update 9 (1.10) and onward, lets hope that frontier takes a break from adding more Cretaceous animals and move to adding in Jurassic and Triassic animals or animals outside of the Mesozoic in the roaster. Oh one more thing I almost forgot, where's the spinoceratops

Personally i think the update was really good, i still really wish we could have more in depth dinosaur behavior, the pack hunting was definitely a bit of a let down especially because of its limited dinosaurs. Stalking prey, sauropods putting up more of a fight, certain carnivores hunting humans for food instead of just for the sake of it.

One thing I would like to see more of in the future is more insectivorous. We only have the one and it's a bit disappointing

The total lack of Gigantoraptor hunting is disappointing. I wouldn't expect it to be particularly interested in hunting anything big, but it should definitely be able to hunt down Compys and other tiny creatures. And the goat. It just doesn't make sense that it can't hunt AT ALL. I don't picture this thing chasing down a parasaur or anything, but it could definitely stomp on some Compys and take them out. Because it definitely seems weird including it in a "predator pack" if they didn't allow it to hunt anything. I also agree that we should have a way to have guests use the benches. Heck, even having a toggle option on the bench for "occupied" and "not occupied" like the way we can toggle cosmetic options for the shops and stuff. I don't even care if the guests never move on or off the bench (though that'd be nice), even just having a guest hang out on the bench forever is better than never seeing guests on benches. I feel like there definitely is a way to do this within the game's current constraints. (I mean, someone modded in full rows of people sitting in T. rex Kingdom, so surely there's a way to have a couple of seated guests on benches). There is a lot of good stuff too, though. The auto hatcheries are a great new feature. Hopefully we'll get the ability to edit the genome for automated bays in the future... How nice would it be to have two bays set up for the herd, with one producing "female" and one producing "male" dinosaurs, each with its own chosen coloration? I feel like the Jurassic World canon dinosaurs almost could be used as hybrids: the Dominion Giga, the Big Rock Allo, and the CC Tarbo all feel like they would fit into the same section of "We took dinosaurs and made them spikier". We do need some more early Mesozoic creatures. The Jurassic and Triassic are cool too. As for that thing with the search losing your dinosaur after you edit the genome, I agree that it's silly you have to track down the dinosaur twice.

I really want more attractions

I've always been an avid dinosaur enjoyer and I knew I wanted this game, but I was incredibly disappointed to find that there's basically no decoration aspects. Now, I'm coming from planet zoo, and I obviously recognize that these are different games, but like? seriously? the guest and decor aspect just seems majorly abandoned, it's hard to make unique parks when you're just utilizing the same 5 pieces everybody else is. It took this long to get trashcans and benches? We're on the second game and there's still hardly anything to decorate an exhibit with? I don't expect a planet zoo level decor system, but damn I expected more than a few flags and signs that can't even be edited.

I do want a Triassic and Jurassic pack, but given that the Cretaceous lasted much longer than the previous two, it's not surprising that it gets so much attention. I want skins and patterns for the feathered Tyrannosaurus and the option to disable dinosaur panicking in Sandbox.

First thing I did with the new update was try to recreate TLW & JP3 Male pteranodon skins and I ´m happy with the result! Great update and DLC, hope to see more content from Frontier

More reason to add Microceratus, so Gigantoraptor can kill it 🤷🏾‍♂️

To get the benches and bins working they could use a similar method they used in Planet Coaster, another game they made.

We really need a Velo (jp 1, jp 2, gp 3, etc) and rex (jp 1, jp 2, jp 3, 65 mil, etc) skin color variations. Imo, they both dinosaurs who desperately need it due to the default/ frontier versons being incredibly boring and lack luster.

Biggest thing for me is Auto-hatchery skins, at the very least let us pick the variant considering how drastic some of them are. 2022 Dreadnoughtus is one of my favorite dinosaurs in the game, and I absolutely detest the normal one. But, I can't make an auto-hatchery with that 50/50 chance of either getting my beloved or a potato. Also big disappointment is Utahraptor not being able to hunt hadrosaurs, like what the hell. But other than those, genuinely this might be the best update the game has seen. Comparing the state the game is in now to launch JWE 1 would be absolutely hilarious, Frontiers consistent improvements and actually responding to player feedback is what makes them one of my favourite devs.

You know it's a good update when a lot of the negative points are just nitpicks.

Tip if you want to have it be a certain movie skin or variant change it how you would if you were going to release a dinosaur normally and it will be that movie skin or that variant

The 5 good things are: 1- Utahraptor 2- Utah's thief 3- The largest known dromaeosaur 4- The raptor described by Jim Kirkland 5- The bear-sized ground hawk

You do have genome control but you need to go into the normal mode to edit the genome first

I can't figure out how to do the automated population feature on the hatcheries

You can change the variant of dinosaur if you change it before you use the auto mode in the normal mode

Overall, I was fairly pleased with this update. I’ll admit I had a bit higher expectations, but still this update wasn’t bad. The new species, animations, decorations, and variants all were enough to get me to pick up the game again.

How do i make the dinos fight, im in sandbox and have fights on

I feel like they could have updated the sizes for the new varients for brachiosaurus, allosaurus, and stegosaurus, they could have made the brachiosaurus and allosaurus being a tad bit bigger than the regular versions and could have made the stegosaurus varients smaller, I'm hoping they can fix this, when I hear carient I imagine that they look slightly different and are different in size compared to the regular version

I don't know of its the size of my enclosure but after the update I can hold baryonyx(3), sucho(4),deinocheirus(4),gigantoraptor (4) and oviraptor(6) and there is overlapping territories but no conflict between carnivores and herbivores. I was actually hoping to get some battles but seems like they are co-existing peacefully although the herbivores do panic a lot

If we were to get a Late Jurassic Pack, I'd nominate Torvosaurus, Guanlong, Giraffatitan, and Tuojiangosaurus. And for a Triassic Pack: Plateosaurus, Postosuchus, Tanystropheus, and Caelestiventus. I just REALLY want more dinosaurs outside of Cretaceous, especially more Triassic Creatures.

Since we have actual omnivores, I feel they should make the minimus not hunters, but make it so they will eat from a meat feeder or already dead dinosaur. Most omnivores wouldn't hunt and should still mostly behave like herbivores, and be treated like herbivores when looking at the dinosaur hostility in sandbox settings. You can mostly get the patterns for the auto hatcheries using liked patterns/skins random. Being able to edit the other genes would be important for making a decent balanced ecosystem.

Ngl I’m thinking on using utahraptor for a life on are planet map because they kinda look like the deinonychus in the documentary

Honestly, the last issue completely invalidates the usefulness of the search bar imo. What's the point of having a search bar if it becomes faster and easier to manually look for the Dinosaur on the list?

The Gigantoraptor is gorgeous looking and has great animations, but its so disappointing. Gigantoraptor was an omnivore, equipped with plentiful tools to kill small to somewhat medium sized animals. Its in the pack, it should be a predator. Such a shame. Hopefully, if it gets requested enough theyll add it. I find it likely Gigantoraptor was a similar level of omnivore to a toucan or hornbill, eating mostly fruit, but actively hunting when given the chance (hornbills for instance famously hunt bats), but killing more like a secretary bird or using its enormous beak. Pretty sure it was the largest theropod where it lived, so no reason it wouldnt. Oh also, the auto hatchery as good as they are, have really stupid maximum limits (i think they shouldnt have a limit, but i digree), why is the max for say an australovenator like 15 but iguanodon is 5? What?! You would need many hatcheries to get say 30 iguanodons.

Unrelated but, I've been playing for a while and can't help but notice. Is the trex's iconic honk-like roar not in the game? he never seems to make it.

Animation Idle Pterosaur All?

I can not understand why they don't upgrade the park rangers's self-protection. Because it is park rangers that enter into the terrifying ancient predator paddock more than a hundred times. Then, why don't they upgrade their self-protection!? Park rangers need self-protection at least tranquilizer or high voltage taser gun or sleeping gas grenade with M-320 grenade launcher.

Why can't we have insect feeders for Oviraptor/Struthis/Gallis, etc. Also where are the deer, cow, pig feeders?

I wish they gave us the triceratops skins

Some things i didn't like about this pack was not a lot tbh only really utah not being able to hunt larger dinosaurs despite being built for it i don't see why they couldn't make it just do a rip and tear and run away or have it ambush and jump on the neck and bite down instantly bringing it down

The lack of dinosaur randomisation in the dig site randomiser is really really dissapointing. It was the thing i wanted mors than anything with this update. Im a cgallenge mide player but challenge mode gets very boring and stale when its the same dinos in the same order every single time so a randomiser sounded amazing. But then i load in to find it chanes barely anything. About 5 ish speacies are swapped and thats it. This means the game plays out almost exactly the same as before and is really damaging gor its replayability. If your not a sanbox gamer then this game is really lacking in replayability

Still a good pack overall

I feel like that gigantoraptor doesn't fit as a predator because it's an omnivore I think that we should of had Irritator and triceratops skin variants and having a lot more skin variants from the movie's because we'd get to change the colour of the skins and patterns.

What if this year was "cretaceous dlc year" year 2024 will be Jurassic and 2025 Triassic.

I am a little disappointed we can't change the skins for the automated hatcheries, but I feel like it's something they're going to work up to it. Literally all I need for JWE2 to be the perfect game for me is for them to add the River Tour, some sort of flying tour either Helicopter or Balloon and for the love of all that is good and right with the world please Frontier release the Microceratus. That is literally all I need to be satisfied with this game.

Why guest don’t interact with benches and almost anything, this is what I’ve been complaining about for a while now, the guests still feel very nonexistent and look pretty bland like there was no care or passion put into them. I don’t know about anyone else but I really don’t think adding in new dinosaurs makes the game any better, there’s a lot of things they need to improve on like maybe focus on the humans and other attractions for a change. And maybe find a way to have marine reptiles eat guests and other dinosaurs? Without any major improvements I find it hard to come back and play this game, there’s just not so much replay value for me, especially with how annoying it is that the maps have not been improved because a lot of them are to small and I have no reason to build a park in them, that to me is just poor game design especially for a park builder game, limitations for building theme parks in a park builder game is never a good idea. Come on Frontier, give us huge maps to build on. You have no idea how ridiculous it is I’m playing on these maps and looking at all that extra space I can’t build on.

Bro are you blind or something? We have huge square maps since update 6. They gave us bigger maps ages ago. Making major changes to guests would probably be nearly impossible because of how the guest system works. And i don't see how that would add replayability. Aquatics hunting guests and land dinos would be a nightmare to program especially in a way that looks good. Also we got 4 new attractions in a year time.

@@Eeeeeee-sh2zn Bro can you read? They’re still too small for my liking and there aren’t a lot of them. I’ve seen mods that offer more space than what Frontier can make. And how would making major changes to guests be impossible, you’re telling me a game from 2003 was able to accomplish something than a game from 2021 couldn’t? Guests in JPOG felt more like they actually existed and that they were there, they can interact with buildings, rides, vehicles and benches and you actually had to take care of them too. How can a game from 2003 have more attention to detail than JW2 when it comes to guest interactions? As for attractions, I believe people have been asking for more rides like coasters, beach resorts, water rides and boat rides, you know something that was in the JW movie. There really aren’t enough attractions and once again even with the square maps it’s still too small and really isn’t as big as it seems. It’s not a good look that I could create a giant park in JPOG and still have a lot more space left over and house more dinosaurs without the limitations.

@@solidSnake4580 I'm not saying making better guests is impossible but with the way they work now changing them to be more like JPOG would require an entire overhaul of the games systems and I doubt that will happen. Also how big do you those maps to be? Those square maps are more than big enough already and doubt the game would be able to handle significantly bigger parks than that. Also no, you couldn't make bigger parks in JPOG

Just my opinion but I’m not a fan of the Utahraptor animations. Most of them are reused (generic raptor kill animation on other dinos and austro goat kill). The human kill is just lame when compared to Atrociraptor or other small- medium theropods.

​@@Eeeeeee-sh2zn Same way it does now? Pack hunting raptors and they added pack hunting to the bigger dinos that were known to pack hunt.
