In this video, I share the top 5 lessons I've learned from competing at the CrossFit Games over the past five years. Each year brought unique challenges and valuable insights that have shaped my journey as a 4x CrossFit Games Masters Champion. Whether you're an aspiring athlete or a seasoned competitor, these lessons will provide valuable takeaways for your own fitness journey.
1. 2018: Embrace Your Fears
- Overcoming the fear of open water swimming. I faced one of my biggest fears head-on and secured a 3rd place finish in the event. Embrace challenges and use them as opportunities for growth.
2. 2019: Marathon Mindset
- Understanding the endurance required for a long competition weekend. Despite a rough start, consistency and resilience led to topping the leaderboard. Competitions are marathons, not sprints.
3. 2021: Play to Your Strengths
- Focusing on winning events within your control. By maximizing efforts on favorable events, significant wins impacted my overall standing. Identify your strengths and leverage them.
4. 2022: Learn from the Best
- Adopting successful strategies from fellow athletes. Observing and applying effective strategies from peers provided a competitive edge. Always be open to learning from those around you.
5. 2023: Trust Your Plan
- Sticking to your specific strategy. Understanding the psychological elements of competition helped me stay true to my strategy despite potential mind games from competitors.

    Proper training and movement patterns. Knees should be fine when we don’t abuse them :/)
