Love to use the salt with watercolor to creat a beautiful snow effect. Try it you'll love the look once it is completed dry. Let it dry slowly on it's own the salt cause a crystal look. Once dry then brush off the salt. Happy painting 🖌️

can we see what these look like once dry ?? sometimes watercolor looks different after it dries especially when the technique has the color slowly moving /bleeding on the page it doesnt look the same when the paint first hits the page (wet) to when its dry ..

That's a good point. This exercise is so quick and easy. I'm planning on doing it tonight... that way I can see for myself. Maybe there is a longer video with the results on her channel.

The salt one i’ve tried before and I think it ended up looking similar to how she showed it, the salt does mess with the pigment in an interesting manner

In batik we would sprinkle salt to make the dyes react similarly

That's a good question. I'm guessing the watercolor would act differently on cold press, smooth paper, then hot press or rough paper.

I would also add plastic wrap crinkled up. Add to your wet paint, let dry and remove after your paper is completely dry.

My son and I did a painting where we used salt and it created an effect of Starbursts and tie dye. It was pretty neat and it gave the painting a bit of texture!

You can also use a mister clean magic sponge to do lifting for watercolor.

I found a toothbrush under the carpet of one of our used cars, and took it to painting classes, calling it the "heritage" or "heirloom" speckling brush - I think it was an Oscar the Grouch toothbrush

The intro was putting paint on splotches of water, then in #1 for blooms, the first is water on watercolor and the second is watercolor on wet watercolor. Hope that helps!

20+ years of off & on watercolor classes and I've NEVER seen the rubbing alcohol trick! Tried drinking plenty of the booz-ey kind!!! Okay, mostly so I didn't care as much that near the end the painting looks fairly good. Then, I always ALWAYS make some stupid mistake and ruin it!!! ALWAYS!!! Another technique that I love is splattering the paint using various sized straws and metered puffs of air to blow the paint into wonderful shapes & effects!

If the canvas is watercolor paper, it should! If you’re painting with non-watercolor paints or a non-watercolor palette, things won’t react in the same way.

Just mention this trick doesn't work if you using pretty chip paper or water color btw... I have to much experience for this😐
