5 Floaters Every Guard Needs in their Game 🔬

Спорт

There is still the 1% of basketball minds that dislike floaters, but that "fourth level" is becoming more and more important each generation and even season. These five simple floater variations, I believe at least, are vital to have in your game as a guard or even a ball-dominant forward.

As an undersized guard during my playing days, the slight fade floater (first example) is the most effective move in the paint at the amateur level. One more point to add about that, these types of floaters are always towards the non-shooting side, you're never squared up, and you almost don't slow down and the ball's momentum is generated from your own movement rather than an arm push. Defenders always think that I'm going either for a drive and/or dish and are caught completely off guard with hands down when I pull for that floater. As for my percentage, however, lol that's a different story. Practice practice practice.

Floaters gave me a significant advantage in scoring as a super small guard. I think CJ McCollum has a great floater I usually see him using it a lot.

I don't think the question that do we really need a left-hand floater can be answered. We don't think they're necessary because rarely anybody uses it, same for left-hand shooting. But something that is rare and hardly unattainable does not necessarily mean you don't need it. Same for many materials in our lives, do we really need lots of money, expensive cars, and houses?

Banger! Thank you. You are doing a great job yet again 💯 Watching Harden deal with Gobert, I feel James needed some long floaters to keep him out of Rudy's reach Sometimes he took an extra stride and put himself in trouble! 👍 Also, DWade would use a Floater off a Eurostep Not always getting in for a layup can happen either due to good D or even clever O 👍 Thank you for having us 🙂

The most common way is to release with ya palm without flicking ya wrist, having ya hand in the position as if u giving a high five. I prefer full arm extension but it differs per person. Make sure u gather with 2 hands before u begin the actual floater with 1 hand...and release as u r going up not at ya apex....since u shouldn't be jumping too high for ya floaters that shouldn't be difficult to do anyway

There’s videos on KZread that can help you improve your jumper without a hoop. Just don’t do the drill where you lie down and shoot the ball or else you will ruin your shot.
