Having a pearl weed carpet makes it easier for egg scattering fish . The thick vegetation at the bottom of the tank safeguards the eggs. Worked so well for me while trying to breed Ember Tetra 😄

Endler's also behave differently from your regular old guppy. They may eat the first fry or 2 then after that, they'll leave the surviving babies alone. I notice when I turn off the lights, all of my Endlers literally go to sleep on the gravel or on the plants like they're in bed! Lol. There are lots of Endler/guppy crosses out there. You have to basically trust the breeder when they say it's pure Endler or not.

I love your breeding methods. I ended up with lots of Celestial Pearl Danio babies, and the only thing I did was remove the betta that was living with them! He must have been eating ask the eggs 🤣

Platy Breeding Tip - From personal experience, platy fry have a habit of settling to the bottom after birth, then occasionally racing to the surface from time to time and back down. This action seems to entice the adults to eat them in a natural instinct. To raise more Platy, you need top to bottom plant coverage over at least a portion of the tank. I use dense guppy grass floating over java moss. The females do a good job of burrowing in the dense foliage for birth, and more fry survive if they can navigate all levels of the tank under cover of plants.

I used to breed platys. I got bored, I have a 50 litre tank [no idea what it is in gallons] and when I had a pregnant platy or 2, I either put them in a smaller tank which I am currently breedings guppies in then taking the platy out of and let the babies grow in a tank on their own. But breeding boxes work just as well 👍

Removing the cave didn’t work for my bristle nose plecos. They were all so determined to overrun me and the poop that they can generate when there’s 100s of babies in a 55 gallon tank! Thankfully I found homes for all of them I’m done with Fish! My favorite were importanted guppies but they are just too delicate. The city changed our water one spring and I didn’t know it and I ended up losing hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of Thailand beautiful patriot guppies! Which is why I put all my pleecos in one tank they’re the only thing that survived along with my few panda Corey’s but those baby Pleco‘s didn’t let my Coreys live very long

Following you has been a real joy! Moses and I have been breeding Guppy's for over half a century and I still love them. Zebra's were the first egg layer's I had bred quite by accident. You remind me of me as a young man and I hope one day you'll get to legally get too catch and raise, breed, and sell some. When I get better and hit the lottery, I would love to bring you too the USA for a vacation and meet you in person. I would also like too take a trip to Australia where my grandparents were from. I'd never kept platy's before, but got 2 male and 1 female green lantern ones in January, and by February I had 30 babies. I wasn't gonna keep breeding them, but then I was gifted a like, blue and pink platy female and a splotchy Mikey Mouse platy male, they bred, and the babies are SO cute, they've got such great colour and black little stripes and dots. I love seeing the combos that can come out of them.

Oddly enough, I have a couple of L183 /bristlenose (it's a couple alright) - and they are mature.. and haven't seen any wigglers.. (although they do have a couple of hiding places at their disposal).. Oh Well.. And the Guppy/Endler thing.. What I bought were probably hybrids (started with 10, 6 month ago - now there are hundreds !) So now I have a bunch of Guppy that look like endlers.. and Endlers that look like guppys ! It's fun - some of those fish are absolutely amazing in color and size (some of the males are like 1 cm long and have a 3 cm long tail and a 1 cm dorsal fin - and when they do the "dance" they are just amazing to watch !)

There are no truly shrimp safe fish: all aquarium fish, including corys, will eat a baby shrimp, if given the opportunity and they can fit it in their mouth. That said, smaller community fish can be kept with Neocaridina shrimp without too many losses. Neocaridina breeders even recommend keeping bristlenose plecos as the Neos like to eat their poop. If your goal is to keep and breed Caridina shrimp like Crystals, Tigers, Bee, or Sulawesi, do not keep them with fish unless you have a lot experience with the shrimp and are willing to take losses.

In my experience guppies usually birth 30-40 fries, and platties usually about 20-25. I have plants, rocks, and algae in the pond so the babies can hide. I feed them only occasionally with flakes (like once a week), they must be eating the algae and it's more than enough food that they keep breeding.

@@BobaT0 definitely, from those several pairs. Inbreeding can happen to in the wild. I haven't yet to find one with any physical deformities like bent spine etc. From what i know, fancy guppies are the result of tons on inbreeding, so maybe there's fewer inbreeding in my pond and the genetics become more natural (they're less colorful, and the tails aren't as big and wide as the OGs). Maybe guppies and endlers come from the same species but idk

Hey KFS, great video once again. I'm really looking forward to breed with my guppies. I've been wating to do this for a long time. There's a problem though. I only have one tank. I don't want to buy any new tanks yet simply cause I don't have any space to put them. Considering I have alot of hiding spots, I'd say my aquarium (60L) would get full really quick. If I'd end up with way too much fish, I'll have no stores or other people to sell the guppies to. Simply cause the demand isn't there or stores have big retailers they buy from. What would be a solution to that? I really would love to breed my own guppies.

Hi, a great idea would be kinda what he did for the danios in the video. Get a little containers with tiny holes in it like a flour sifter or veggie strainer or something like that. When u notice that a female guppy is pregnant, you can put it in the container, which would be placed just in a separate larger container, kinda like the box used in the video except maybe plastic (which u can just put water in from the tank, because it is temporary). Now u can add a filter if u would like, but with mine I just did daily water changes and all the babies grew up happy and healthy, and ready to sell. Once the mother gives birth, the babies will just fall through, then u can place her back into the main tank! Good luck, hopes this helps!
