I haven't once thought to connect source texts ever. This just made my life so much easier haha. Thank you yet again!
you what? I love that you explain things fast and going straight to the point. Many tutorials and courses (even paid ones) don't understand how important this is for professionals, who usually don't have the luxury of time.
These are great. Nice and subtle. Not a text animator explosion in sight 🙂 Your tutorials are really helpful and entertaining Ben!!
I really like the little workflow tips you sprinkle in your videos
You have no clue how much time you have saved me by just watching your amazing tutorials!!! Not only that but my clients praise how much I've improved in a matter of days with your techniques! thanks, Ben!
Ben this honestly couldn't have come at a better time. I need to make a gif for a project and these tips are going to help so much

That's amazing to hear! hope your project goes well :D
Thank you very much for sharing these tutorials with us. They are simple and fast. You're great!
Recently I got stuck with a client that insist me to use crazy effects on text transitions to the point I had to resort to outer glow, fill, scaling, blur, opacity, lens flare (on a subhead text) just to make them satisfied. I was soo frustrated with their direction, and I thought I was out of practice! It's good that I bumped into this video, to see the elegant minimal animation is still the standard practice, and assure myself that I just had a tasteless client. Thanks for the tutorial!
i'm not an animator nor do i work with motion design but i've learned so much from your channel that sometimes i just play with it you have the best tips! thanks for sharing
Wow! Pick-whipping source text is a game changer for me! Thank you!!!!
Helped me a lot! Thank you Ben.
I am just about to have a production bumper assignment for school soon so this will be very helpful. Your work is always very informative and clear. Great video!

Useful and practical as usual! Thanks mate!
You have such a great voice and a really good approach to teaching, Thanks for the tutorial it was great!
After Effect is that one and only Adobe program that I'm kinda afraid of, most surely just because I don't use it enough! Thanks for the great tips, I need to get into AE more again

Cool techniques Ben. Thank you very much :)
Thank you Ben! Really useful! I'm just starting learning Adobe After Effect and you help me a lot :)) Keep it up, please :D
i knew 96% of the things and even done in past client projects.. Really awesome when we try them. Not only these type of animation look professional but also it enhances the quality
Again, you produce a short video with absolute gold I did not know about
This is so informative!! Keep up the good work👍
Nice video, Ben! A nice option is building the animation to be exported as a MOGRT. This way you have a nice template you can use in software like Premiere. This is very helpful, if you need to re-use certain animation, like titles. But I also made little MOGRT files with a thermometer, speedometer, etc. In Premiere I only have to set certain values I made available as properties. This saves a lot of time.
Why have I never thought of pickwhipping source text for multiple layers!! Thank you!
Love this episode. You are really a master.
Thank you for your Tutorials
Great video Ben :D I learned so much
Really loved the first one
perfect! as usual!
Simple and Amazing! Thanks a lot! 🤩🙏🏻😄
that's great! I definitely use them :) thanks!
There's also another text animation that's extremely common in sports media and networks. UFC uses it a lot in their presentations. It's mainly doing stroke to fill/fill to stroke text animations followed by scaling using stop keyframes I believe.
Ohhhhhhh, Ben. Thank you ❤️
Thanks you for the great tips.
That's very helpful thanks!
this is gold !!!

By the way I am a kid so you made it soo easy to understand
11:00 It's actually much easier to use the right-most pickwhip. You can drag it straight to the other 'Source Text' without having to alt-click the stopwatch and it immediately generates the correct expression.
4:29 There is a much better way to animate this all in one layer. Avoid having an extra Matte layer everytime. Just animate position in the animate tab on the right of your text layer, not the actual position of the the layer, then create a mask around to what you want. Easy to move, same animation and all in one clean layer.

That's the method I would use as well, but this tutorial is clearly aimed at people trying to learn the basics (I know Ben does more technical tutorials as well), and IMO explaining that there are different "positions" to animate, as well as explaining layer masks seems like a bit more of a learning curve than introducing track mattes.
Yay!! Type stuff! Mass Por Favor!
Hey man been watching a lot of your videos , do you have any projects which u have done from start to finish explaining everything? Not voice overs ?
High Benn, and to anyone as well... I've been designing for about 7 years now, but purely self-taught and basing my decisions on what I believe looks good/works...I know having a degree in Graphic design really helps but I don't have the means to enroll in such an academic program yet, what resources/materials are available for people like me, aspiring designer, to become up to par or even close to certified graphic designers? The materials you offer to this channel are top-tier yet you share these techniques for free, and we thank you for that. I mean...I don't skip ads. :D
thank you

awesomeness
Hi Ben, I'm doing the tracking animation. My version is keep expanding from left to right, not from the middle like yours. Please let me know how I can fix it.
Hey Ben! Why is the second matte inverted? When the text comes out of the line, excellent video though
At the moment you say "the default red it's pretty good" I was thinking Stranger Things 😂
that stranger things reference was spot on! there must be a whole generation of motion designers who had a click watching it (myself included)
Nice Video

i jump to animation this 2020 with AE and you are like my father xD
epicness
Set matte!!
Is there a way to apply a texture on a text while the texture "sticks" to each character while animating the text properties like tracking?
@paulvansommeren
3 жыл бұрын
Not really, no. You could use a displacement map to add tracking to your text (in most cases) where you could achieve that tho.
For the first animation, I have the same keyframes as you but it doesn't give me that arch. What am I doing wrong?

Thank so much for watching!
I'm guessing Ben knows it but chooses not to use it, but in case it is useful for someone: the mask feather has two values, they are x and y. So if you need to feather in only one direction you cau use them separately and keep your masks a bit more under control. Thanks for the video 😁. Love the channel.
does anybody in this comment section knows how to / any plugins that does the Vox text animations that individual letters comes in from different directions?

"Carl Friedrich Gauss" - that's a german mathematician's name. the "ss" is especially there to avoid turning it either to Z or to SH (and neither to C, like in "mathematician"). so it's NOT "goshian".
why can't I like a video 2 times ??
