The worst habit I can think of is not interacting with the chat. Make sure to talk to your viewers so they feel welcome in your stream!

What I always see and hate seeing.. streamers who look at their phone more than chat, talking to their friends.. People you are there for your chat... (And yes most I've seen have chat on their computer screen and not phone)

That video had to do with him responding to a reddit thread titled "Twitch is your hobby, not your future". That wasnt his opinion

Gael Level has really good info, glad you're giving him a shout out cause he definitely deserves it.

Your “dad advice” was to get over having lights on you, but the real dad advice was “this isn’t a hobby, this is your career”. I feel like that “dad” statement is sooooo important for people who’s parents don’t believe in them. It made me smile, thank you. 💜

Testing audio levels live allows you to change it live instead of recording > changing > recording > changing etc.

One way I found is to play a gameplay video on KZread and record in OBS and just talk through your mic to see how the Audio levels match up

I’ve been watching your channel for about a year now, storing information about streaming. I’ve finally started and am only 2 days away from being able to apply for affilate. Thanks for de-mistifying twitch! All the technical stuff can be overwhelming at first haha.

Harris I love your videos man. Seriously inspired me to get into streaming about a month ago. Used your advice for everything AND, you’re even who I refer anyone else to when they ask me for tips.

One of the biggest things we've learned while streaming is to always check your audio. Dont assume that since it was perfect last time it'll still be perfect the next time.

Plot Twist, Backdrop lights are the opposite of the shirt. Also , thank you for the video

Finally you banged on about audio balance, I have said to many new streamers that the battle with audio will be one that lives with you constantly through you streaming life. But it's a worthy fight every time!

I must say a huge thanks actually to you guys, this good fucken content has given me a drive to constantly push myself past limits and learn more about all aspects of streaming, even learned how to draw from that drive with 0 art experience and I always me to believe I can have a good stream when starting out even with none of the typical stuff, keep it up there's so much effortless content on this subject. @@greenrampage Giving up i think is not always a bad idea when it comes to streaming on Twitch. I think most people think streaming is easy and always fun...and it's not. Like Harris has said over and over, if you are creating REAL content...putting in all the hard work...outside platform content as well to actually grow ( if you are not getting more than 50 follows a stream and subs you are fooling yourself into thinking you are actually growing...imo) your brand AND you LOVE doing it...then don't stop!

Now I’m doing even better last stream I got 65 followers and over 1.2k views just got verified in the game I stream and hit over 1k followers on twitch

I totally agree on the design aspect just keep it clean I have my 'game screen' which consist of my amazing 8bit zelda inspired camborder and for all the otherstuff i have my 'off game/break' screen which displays my followers subs chat in big etc i hate overly crowded overlays sore to the eye. I learn alot about your videos man I really appreciate them! Still a new streamer here under a year got about 220 followers and 6 subs on the moment! I added closed captions to my stream exactly for that reason. They aren't 100% accurate but they get the job done.

I'd love a video where you recommend what levels music, games, and your VOICE should be at on the OBS Studio volume mixer! Also if you recommend audio ducking as well, etc. If there's already a video on this, I apologize! But a full in depth video on audio, if it's THIS important, I feel like would be mondo beneficial, especially if you get into EQ'ing for general builds (SM7B w/ Cloudlifter, Elgato Wave 3, AT2020's and how to EQ them with VSTs). Thanks for the videos!

I’ve been streaming for only 3 days now. 15-17 hours worth of streaming. And I hit 50 followers tonight on stream. I’m still learning OBS. I’m still learning everything. While I still think I've taken care of all of the advice you've mentioned (audio, video, lights, etc), I still think something is missing from my stream... I guess exposure is one of the main "issues" here 😅 And also time... Having Twitch and KZread while working a full time job is pretty challenging, but I know there are a lot of streamers having the same or even worse, so can't complain much. Never giving up is actually one solid but hard to implement kind of advice 🤟

Honestly, what I've been doing is just try to pick one thing you want to improve each stream, or each week, and work on it. I'm no where near a big streamer, not even close to a medium streamer, but the quality I think I've managed to achieve on my live stream (KZread vids haven't shown it yet because backlogged editing atm) is comparable to some of the bigger streamers I believe. Going to keep working on it until I feel really comfortable with all my design, then go headstrong into full on content production.

i cover my lights with a sheet of parchment paper so that the light isn't so harsh - much less glare and far less direct. I still have a bit of glare from the screens, but with the lights, that's a lot more manageable.

In my experience, bring your key light and fill light (if you have/use one) up above you and back away so they are at a 45 degree ish angle, reflections shouldn't show in camera much if any at that point. Definitely a balancing act, but it's doable. Also using a diffused light like a viltrox will help reduce point glare. Fairly cheap, about $60 for a panel and power cord.

Diffused light, 45 degrees off to the side, brought up a little high and shining down. Should look more natural as well as reduce glare.
