I also use a checklist and my list rarely changes for warm water diving. My HydrosPro BCD w/Air2 comes with its own backpack and it holds my reg, mask in box, socks, torch w/ charger, snorkel, Teric w/ charger, dive charts, small waterproof container (minimal tools & O rings) & mesh bag. This is my carry-on. OMG, I need to see my list to make sure I didn't miss anything. My rash guards and thin neoprene shorts as well as Nova fins fit in my one check bag with clothing. Love your videos, always a good point or two to take notice. Thank you, James.

I use checklists as well. After every trip I create a memo describing the trip and revising the check list for that trip and any items I had forgotten to take. I always take an extension cord and some wide tape like duct tape or gaffer's take. Strangely enough the tape goes into my checked bag because one time they did not allow it in my carryon.

Thanks for reminding me not to check in my regulator. I just got one so not use to this since it was a non-issue before. I would never check my ski boots in. Now I know not to check my regulator either.

I have found that a checklist is an absolute must even for a day trip. Mine is broken down into two parts; first to make sure that everything has been packed and second to make sure that it gets loaded into the car. There's nothing worse than arriving at a dive site only to realize that an important piece of kit is still safely sitting at home (likely in plain sight and near the front door).

Yeah baby, checklists! They help us old folks remember what to bring on different dives whether it’s walk-in, boat, quarry, warm water, cold water, etc. so many different situations! Very helpful video - thank you!

Of course not... my regulator travels next to me on the airplane. There’s not way I’ll put my baby on a check in back. My BCD and computer, too😂

Thanks for the video. Good pointers too. I do carry a few tools, including hex keys and thin wrenches. I learned that all dive operators do not always have basic tools on the boat. Saved a few dives with the them.

James, I was disappointed with this video. You said you were going to pack for the trip so I expected to see you pack everything you were bringing. I saw a spool, which you never mentioned, and I wonder what other items were there and never mentioned. You say you love lists, I wish you had shared yours. Thanks from a faithful follower.

@@Dave1955ist Hi David, thanks for watching. I thought about this in preproduction, but my packing list depends on where I'm going to dive and what my 'mission' is. Each trip, I make a custom list and select gear appropriate. A month diving in the Russian Arctic has a very different list than a weekend of fun diving with my wife in Turks and Caicos. I thought about sharing my Bahamas list (from this video) but decided I didn't want to mislead people into thinking I pack the same gear for each trip. Feel free to shoot me an email to james@diversready.com and I will happily share my Bahamas list with you.

Once I decided in the last minute not to check my reg bag in. At the security I was reminded, my knife was attached to the low pressure hose. Bye-bye knife. 😢

To my horror, I once noticed my knife attached to my harness as I was going through TSA's open bag inspection. I was able to distract the TSA inspector by talking about my steel backplate. He was so focused on that that he never noticed the knife (or the line cutter) right in front of him. Whew!
