5-Day Solo Remote Wilderness Survival Test [Part 1]
Ойын-сауық
A 5 day, 64km Solo survival test exploring remote wilderness.
This is a 2 part survival camping series. Episode 2 will air next week.
I travel by hiking and packrafting in a raw and rarely seen part of Newfoundland's breathtaking outdoors - the remote 1,070km2 Avalon Wilderness Reserve. I carry limited food and equipment with the goal to test my wilderness skills and explore as much new ground as possible over the 5 days. I must fish, forage, be resourceful and use strength, and endurance to succeed.
There's beauty, simple living, hardship and great joys.
It's a classic adventure in spectacular nature that I am excited to share!
Come along and live the journey.
Take care and thanks for watching - Justin

Steve this comment is one of those silver linings that makes me glad we live in times like these. The technology can be a bit much at times but it allows you to relive memories and meet folks like Justin from all over the world. This comment made my day better thank you!
Missing Saku. Thanks again Justin! You are traveling in style…Delectable meals! Nature at its purest. Contemplative, and for me, relaxing.
I grew up beating about in the backcountry. I am reaching 70 now with a double hip replacement. I do the best I can but watching your videos keeps the fire burning. Keep them coming.

Yes , Dragon fly nymph looking to dry out and hatch on your tent ! Love the vids as always .
Perfect for some Friday evening viewing.
Thank you so very much again Justin! Your videos are truly amazing and so wonderful to watch! I just love to follow your adventures in the beautiful wilderness of Canada! Best regards from Sweden and please stay safe and immensely richly blessed every new day!
Looks fantastic especially against that gorgeous greenery of the summer Italian Alps. Great job , Martijn. 👍🏻🙋🏼♀️🇺🇸
You are without a doubt the most extreme abuser of equipment I’ve ever seen. When you use something, there is no doubt about what it can do and what its limits are. Watching you drag that lightweight inflatable raft over the ground had me biting my tongue off! Sure, it is mostly soft, but one sharp stick, rock, old bone. You are one of a kind Justin.
What a treat to see you out in the elements again Justin, can't wait for the next episode. Allt the best from Sweden 👍

You definitely saved your taters for the best camping spot! WOW! Glad you had yet another great camping experience and here's to many more. I love seeing Saku and Bear but sometimes Man has to be on his own for abit. Besides, now Saku probably jumps in the water and tries to eat the fish before they're baked! Cheers!

Nice little trip. Did a similar one a few weeks back with a buddy, took two small dinghys up through a couple of ponds. Spent two hours picking our way up the river getting in there but walked out over the barrens coming out in half the time. So easy to drag an inflatable over barrens like that, much easier than dodging rocks and sticks in the river.
Awesome !! and Inspiring too !! I'm a camping fool just like you, Love it !!

Great video Justin. I grew up doing the same here on the Avalon and Now I’m mostly solo due to aging process that has almost eliminated long hikes back country for most of my buddies at our age. So far I’m blessed with being able to hike an average of 50 miles a week.

Such beautiful country! I have blue hockey tape on the handles of my Fiskars hatchet and axe for grip and visibility. It works very well.

Thanks!
Love the country in there, great stuff! Was in there May 21 camped on that very spot on the pond with the rock(don't know the name of it), must of just missed ya!
G'day Justin. That insect on your tent looked to me to be what we call in Australia... a mudeye... dragon fly larvae or nymph. Great bait and great fly for trout (we tie them with deer hair so the fly sits on or just under the surface). If you'd watched it a bit longer you probably would have seen it hatch into a dragonfly... Around here they typically leave the water at night or early morning, climb up something, then hatch. Spread their wings to dry, and away they go. Cheers. 🍻
👍 you are a very good outdoorsman 🤠👍
Beautiful video Justin, I miss Saku !
