5 Day | 60 Mile Wilderness Canoe Trip in Scotland: Great Glen Canoe Trail

hWe go on a multi day canoe expedition to the wilderness of Scotland. Travelling 60 miles by canoe and wild camping along the way. Our trip starts at Fort William and finished in Inverness. We travel across the Caledonian Canal, through Loch Lochy, then onto Loch Oich where we join the wild river Oich and paddle through grade 2 rapids. Then we enter the monster loch ness and spend two days paddling and wild camping the 22 miles of this loch. Finally, we enter into the small Loch Dochfour and into the last section of the Caledonian Canal where we finish in Inverness. It was an epic trip, with rain storms, rapids, bugs and most importantly, incredible company!

Great to see you in Scotland, I spent many a year with my dad fishing all over, sadly he died 10 yrs ago with alzheimer's. He originally came from Devon and left when he was only 18 to Scotland, we use to laugh at his Scottish/Devon accent. I wish he was here now to watch your video. After he passed away I scattered his ashe in Loch Awe where he tried but never succeeded in catching a Ferrox trout. Your doing this for a great charity, I really hope you enjoy my back garden "Bonnie Scotland "🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A great video, I’ve been watching a lot of Simon, a Bloke in the Woods YT Channel, doing this too? I like his Customised Canoe, with him being able to set up Sail. I’m wondering why none of the Canoes, even his? Aren’t also Customised to become Shelters in their own right? With maybe one of those tiny Cubit Stove’s or a Bio-Lite Stove, to also charge your USB Powered Devices as well as Cooking and Heat, with maybe a Quick Release Fixture for it, so it can’t move any way? Couldn’t a Foldable Prop Stand be Set up, on both ends of the Canoe, to support a Line? To then have an All Weather Tarp or Mosquito Net, be thrown over it? With some hooks or Velcro to seal it to the sides of the Canoe? Just a couple of ideas for any future video, for another Temp Shelter?

The Tinder you used is Lichen which shows how clean the air is. It's a relationship with an algae & fungi. For me, I view it as gold. Seeing you grow from a handful of viewers to nearly 2 million subscribers is amazing. Production values are impressive here. Yes, very worthy of BBC.

When I was young my family did a drive around Scotland. They took in lots of fun things, including a toured boat trip around Loch Ness and of course the MONSTER was the big deal. Some 40 or 50 years later now, at my better thinking age, I know that the Viking era Norse ship wrights made boats on the shores of Loch Ness. Would have been cool as heck to see a Dragon Boat rise from the water :)

I canoed the same journey for my gold Duke of Edinburgh expidition a few years back. We stopped at the top of loch ness (was only a 4 day expedition). One of my favourite things that i've done.

That rainbow catch is AAAmazing... ;) As long as you don't mention the Ireland leprechaun with his pot of gold sitting IN Scotland LOL Thank you so much for this video, and the many you offer us each week, i am very appreciative of your content. And yes i would have to agree, everything taste good even if not appealing to the eyes in terms of food... When you ' re outdoor for days, paddling or hiking or what ever outdoor activities people are into, this is a truth, those muddy food pack are just mouthgasmic ! ;)
