He played in an era where some of the most dominant teams of all time just controlled the landscape of the NFL... The 49ers dynasty... The NFC East alone(minus the Eagles) went to the Super Bowl and won it 8 times Marino's first 10 years in the league. I still consider him one of the Greatest EVER... Ring or no ring.

I still don't know what possessed my Patriots to take Tony Eason in 83. Marino throwing to Stan Morgan and Irving Fryar would have been savage. And, the Pats had a much better defense than Miami...

Dan Marino stepped into a situation that no other Rookie QB in the NFL has ever had. Dan got to start for a TEAM that was just in the Super Bowl, had the No.1 Defense for Least Points Allowed, and his backs had OVER 2,000 yds. rushing. What a TEAM. A lot of QB's would have WON a S.B. with a TEAM like that.

Even though Marino was the Dolphins greatest strength, he was also their greatest weakness. During his 16 year career, they never had a strong rushing attack. They relied too much on Marino's air power arms didn't ever concentrate on the four corners of football success: 1. Passing attack 2. Rushing attack 3. Defense 4. Special Teams

Shame that by some strange twist of fate (the knee injury) that caused many teams to pass on him is the reason he became a shining star in Miami Dolphins history, and as a fan I can’t be happier that I got to watch one of the greatest to ever play, play for my team. That said, if not for the injury, Dan never gets drafted by Miami, he almost certainly gets drafted earlier and probably would have gone on to have an even more stellar career, capped off by at LEAST one ring, the man was incredible in his youth, I can’t imagine him not taking home a few rings if things had been different.

Don Shula screwed up the 84 draft by drafting, I believe a linebacker, when He should've drafted Louis Kipps. A 4.3, 40 yard dash sprinter on the opposite side of Mark Duper would've spelled doom for The 49ers. I would've had Mark Clayton as a possession receiver. He should've never been the 2nd option.
