for sidechaining i recommend never using fruity limiter and just get the free TDR Nova plugin, so you can make the 808 only duck at the exact frequencies the kick is hitting at. As far as the reverb trick goes, i never knew this was a thing i must try!

i will suggest for the first tip that you send the drum bus to another channel where you put your parallel compressor at 100% wet.That way you can cut the mud with eq after the aggressive compressor to achieve better sound

I mix as i go which is easier for me

to be honest you don't need a perfect mix as an independent beat maker, your mix should be good enough to convey the idea and main sound to the artist who's looking for a beat. leave fine tuning to the engineers

That’s what I say in all my mixing videos :) as a beatmaker, just do a quick mix to make sure it sounds balanced, engineers will do the rest
