    Feather Duster. It reaches way higher than my arm can, fewer swipes (after 20+ yrs in the profession, my shoulders are shot), and done in the blink of an eye. That said, I come back through to polish. My fav part! 😊

    I’ve been following your channel for a few years now & have found you give the most practical cleaning advice without excessive cleaning products. So many others push (and are likely paid for) promoting an excessive amount of products. But I’ve learned from following you that simple is better! For dusting, I’ve been using uses dryer sheets. Even with already being used in the dryer, it retains a great ability to grab & cling to dust!

    I've wondered about professionals' opinions on this. I used to *dust exclusively with the vacuum cleaner* (canister Filter Queen with brush attachment). I had the same logic---vacuum it up and it's 'gone'. It's definitely more awkward pulling the vacuum along everywhere. And vacuuming high surfaces means either switching to a cloth for those areas, or picking up the canister with one hand and vacuuming with the other. One thing the *vacuuming method is great for is dusting fancy picture frames* or other surfaces with lots of ridges, curlicues and the like. In fact I don't know how others clean those without vacuuming. Maybe doing general dusting with the vacuum is not a popular method because people find it awkward? I'd like to hear others' experiences and opinions.

I really liked them in the beginning. Then I realized the dust resettled back onto the surface. So back to Pledge like products. Then I found YOU!!!😊 I love microfiber cloths. 2 questions. Does each room get a separate cloth or when do you shake it? Then, how do you transport this dust filled cloth to the trash or outside to shake it? Put it in a bag so dust is not strewn through the house on the way to outside or whereever it ends up? Well, 4 questions. Do you wash your microfiber cloths?

    The humidity in Florida makes dust stick to furniture, ceiling fans and baseboards. It needs to be double dusted, just as you discussed. A tip for microfiber cloths and the film on car windows: wipe the inside with a clean (no fabric softener) cloth. It may take a couple of cloths, but the microfiber removes the film. Using a window cleaner just smears it around. After wiping, the windows look great and don’t need to be washed.

  • @be5952

    @be5952

    Жыл бұрын

    Really? I'm not doubting you, it's just that cleaning the inside of the windshield on cars has been a decades long discussion with the general consensus being it's an involved, awkward, thankless job no matter how one does it---lol. Like you said, there's a recurring 'film' on the inside, and it's a bear to get off without streaks and smears. My method, honed after years of doing windshields and watching and reading helpful hints is to: -> Windex the whole thing thoroughly -> Wipe off the Windex with a cloth (cotton or good microfibre). Note: It won't be anywhere near clean at this point. This is just to get off the lion's share of film / dirt / grease. -> Then Windex *_lightly_* a second time -> Wipe thoroughly again with another clean cloth -> Check results against the light, and if still the slightest streaky, smudgy or filmy, repeat a light Windexing and another clean cloth rubbing until satisfied. For the first two step 'rough cleaning' some people substitute a damp cloth---that is, a cloth with hot water and any dish soap wrung out until just damp. To year that you get a good result with just a good (dry) microfibre cloth wiping is pretty freeing.

  • @dale3404

    @dale3404

    @@be5952 You are so right: windshields are awkward to clean. That’s why I was glad to learn this tip. If the inside is dirty, it should be cleaned after wiping away the film with a microfiber cloth.

My question is: After you dust with an absorbent (I didn’t know a more absorbent cloth would pick up more dry dust 🤯) microfiber cloth, do you shake it out or put it in the wash and use a clean one for the next room? Also your cloths are probably better than other microfiber cloths I tried. I didn’t like the texture/feel of them bc the cloth stuck? to my hand. Thank you again 😊
