As a pilot based in Minneapolis, I can say the deicing, plowing, and all other winter ops crew members do an excellent job, and are truly the backbone of the operation. We certainly couldn't do our jobs without them!

Keep forgetting that these careers are really at the back bones of keeping our world run properly. We really need more of this talent, not "influencers" THESE are the real influence

I've been a lead deicer at Newark international for 10 yrs now as a seasonal job. It's a fun laid back place especially when I get to train new hires over the course of 3 months before winter hits

The de icing engineer said can't afford any mistakes. That's guy has been doing it for 25 years plus. Which means he hasn't messed up if he has last that long! Amazing!

I was one of the first solo de-icers on Denver International Airport, I have to admit, that was one of my favorite jobs of all time in undergrad. I got there in the worst conditions, at 3am, read books and played a real-life video game of sorts. Miss that job.

Crazy, a few days ago I was thinking if they "carwash" planes. Because a saw a vid of a very sleek and shiny passenger plane. Haha Never talked about it aloud or in chat or googled it, but this is amazing timing.

I travelled on Tokyo subway last year. I must admit it was spotless, it was a strange thing to have stuck in my memory. It reminded me of the train between the two worlds in the Matrix.

If the 2 x 4 works, the manufacturing company of the deicer should just embrace it. Don’t improve upon it, because it works! Well… it is broken to begin with?

It is done in special areas near runways and excess fluids are collected, recycled and re-used. These de-icing stations have own drain system which makes sure no fluids go into waste and drain only into specific drains.
