5 Cars That Last Forever (With Reliable Engines)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

When your car has a reliable engine, you're likely to have a reliable car. That's why I put together this list of 5 reliable cars for you to look at and consider when you go to buy your next vehicle.
This is our breakdown of 5 cars with engines that last forever. We're talking about engines from Acura Toyota, Lexus, and Mazda because those car makers build reliable engines and great performing cars.
If you're looking for low maintenance, high return on investment (or low depreciation), and less times sitting on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck, this is the list for you!

MAZDA, TOYOTA, and HONDA, in that order. My dad passed in 2015, and left my mom his Lexus ES350. The car was already a few years old. Not one mechanical or other reliability issue since he purchased the car around 2010. It just keeps running and going strong, no matter what.

@@gobbler1957 the timing chain issues where really from the ford era and a Ford motor, they have been good since they got out of bed with ford and into bed with Toyota, like anything maintenance is important, present time I believe just about everything at auction is suspicious, I’ll give you a example I was looking at a 3 year old Toyota with 24k miles. Looked at the car fax and see it went though two owners at the same Toyota dealer then they sent it to auction, there are practically zero Toyotas for sale if you go to a lot around me, they get sold before they come in or people are on the waiting list. There’s no reason why a low miles Toyota would not be put on the lot at a Toyota dealership instead of being sent to the auction except some thing being suspect now back in the day, you might’ve said Old Navy didn’t sell well unpopular, 2 Wheel Dr., etc. etc. but it’s all going today

Depends on how you take care of it. I have a 2015 Ford F150 with the 2.7 Eco and it has never been in the shop for anything but oil changes and tires. It still has the original brakes on it, too. It's the first year they came out with the aluminum body so not any rust on her either. Best truck I have ever owned.

Lexus have been the best car manufacturer I've owned. I had 3 Honda accords in the past and only 1 was reliable. Currently my wife has a MDX and that needs to go in for work every once in a while. I owned a Lexus LS430 for 10years and never had any issue and the car drove smooth, never any weird sounds. Hands down best car ever made!! Totally regret selling it.

The problem with GMs is, usually the rest of the car is falling apart despite how good the engine is. I was a GM technician. I was constantly chasing down electrical issues and it seemed like everything in the interior would start breaking and falling apart. We also had a fair amount of A/C failures. I was also told that the life expectancy of most of GM's transmissions was 120,000 mi. Yes I have seen some of them go further than that with proper maintenance, and a reasonable driver, but I have also seen many vehicles come in with 100,000 miles on it and need a new transmission. Especially if the vehicle had aftermarket heavy wheels and/or tires on it.

The 2006-2008 1zz-fe 1.8l motor with automatic transmission are the most reliable vehicles ever!!! This includes the Carolla and Pontiac Vibe. In 2006, they tweaked the piston ring, I guess there was an issue with oil burning. At the 120 000 mile mark, there is an O-Ring with the timing chain that tends to fail. Apparently it’s not a big expensive fix. And good thing you didn’t get the 2.4 L engine option, as that engine burned oil big time.

What gets weird with cars that last this long, is all the other stuff on the vehicle wears out and needs replacing before the engine. Then you start getting into other problems that can add up to an odd situation of things going out like wiring, electronics, rust, seats and interior parts just cracking and breaking, hoses and lines and gaskets. 🤔 Just something to think about, I had a 1983 Honda motorcycle, the engine and transmission last so long that everything else needs to be replaced, creating a huge rebuild project. It's cool, but beware if you think you're getting something that's trouble free just because the engine is still running strong

The head gasket on my wife’s Honda Civic blew. I didn’t want to buy another civic but my wife insisted because she loved the new civic design with the digital speedometer. At about 35,000 miles a piston went straight through the head of the engine. Thankfully it was still under warranty. Mazda is extremely reliable but their safety measures are incredible. The next closest vehicle safety wise is another $50,000 more than Mazda

I've only had to do the usual preventative maintenance which I perform myself. One nice thing about the hybrid is that the brakes last a very long time due to the regenerative braking of the hybrid system.

Was great for Mazda to get engineering back after Ford left in 2009. Everything they do has a drivability element but is also made with a keep-it-simple where possible attitude to ensure reliability and maintainability. The Skyactiv 6 speed for example was designed with a lock up clutch design to ensure that it always responded quickly. Speed is the one reason Mazda rejected the very Japanese loved CVT.
