I'll add my 5. Daily drinker - Basil Hayden (old fashioned) Cheap mixer - Evan Williams 86 (highball) Friday night - Blade and Bow Impress guests - Liberty Pole spiced rye Special occasion - Makers cask. Not because it's expensive or my favorite, but because it comes with a story of the trip my wife and I took to KY. She dipped a bottle herself and we have a pour on our anniversary.

@Santi Bouphavong oh yea, that small batch four roses is fantastic. I'd take that over basil hayden honestly, but I often share drinks with my wife so that's our compromise. I do like their dark rye quite a bit though.

I've just discovered this channel and aside from the interplay between Kurt and Trenton, which I love, the fact that Kurt is so plain and distinct in his description of whiskey and bourbon and rye makes this a daily watcher for me.

Kurt (SLB Resident Host), you nailed the Reddit list but they forgot one category. So there are actually 6 types of whiskey you need and here they are: 1. Daily drinker 2. Impress your guests 3. Cheap mixer 4. Something great - your Friday nite pour 5. Saving for a special occasion 6. Bottle to give away as a gift. (I give Buffalo Trace).

Been binge watching your whiskey videos recently and I just wanted to say that I really enjoy them a lot and appreciate your mellow and honest style. But what I really want to high five you for is how you slapped all those whisk(e)y snobs out there with the “the best way to drink whiskey is the way YOU like to drink it”! Couldn’t agree more, and maybe let me add that “the best whiskey is the one YOU enjoy the most”! Keep it up, Sir! Prost from Austria 🥃

Really love your content. I can appreciate your honesty and straight shooting. So many people lie or exaggerate to make themselves look like aficionados. I have the first 3 bottles you showed in my own collection. I too prefer rare breed over ice but absolutely love it as a daily drinker. I use 114 as a mixer or over ice. It is definitely a little hot but a great value. Cheers!

Going back and looking at some of your older stuff. I just picked up a bottle of Rare Breed Barrel proof. Haven't cracked it yet, but soon! My favorite thing about Irish Whiskey is how they use a percentage of unmalted barley. Way back when, i've been told that, british government started taxing whiskies, to cut down on the tax liabilities, irish distillers started putting in a percentage of unmalted barley spirit. Hell of a story. Loving your videos.

I would go Buffalo Trace, everyday drinker, Jim beam , for a mixer, Woodford Reserve or Elijah Craig, for the Friday nighter, Barrel Bourbon for impressing the company and special occasion would be Johnny Walker Blue. Daily Drinker: like you said, needs to be in $25 range. Larceny IMHO is outstanding at just less than that price point. Old Forester offers a lot of value - but their cheaper offerings are kinda harsh, as is Buffalo Trace - Larceny is way smoother. On your advice, I'm gonna check out the WT Rare Breed, I bet it's worth $40 easily. You know, I'm not familiar with any of those you went over, except I've had regular 12-year Red Breast and it WAS outstanding. Hahahaha, there are no secrets from your wife/cameraman!!

Been watching a few of your videos recently. Enjoyed the $20 per bottle Ryes and Bourbons. Enjoy Wild Turkey 101, which might be my everyday drinker, so when I saw you were a Wild Turkey guy, I paid more attention. But, when you went with Red Breast and said you could not go wrong with Red Breast, then it was time to chime in. I have enjoyed Red Breast for at least 15 years, but had not had one in a long while until this past Friday night. So smooth, but yet so full flavored. Yow! It is good. IMO, single potstill, Irish Whiskey is the stuff.
