Of course! If you’re interested in making a tax-deductible donation towards our whiskey selection, head on over to:

** What's with the necklaces?
Rex is a whiskey mooch. His necklace is a manifestation of pure glory - forged from the irradiated bones of eagles and wolves. Also a tube sock.
See the origin story here: goo.gl/JMc2Hr
Daniel is a whiskey sommelier. His necklace is a token of his sommelier level, and he trains whiskey sommeliers at The Whisk(e)y Marketing School in Austin Texas.
**A Whisk(e)y school?
Yup. Here are a few things we believe.
** You don’t have to be a snob to appreciate and love great whiskey.
Whisky and Whiskey (it depends on where it’s from) have been an important part of cultures around the world from time immemorial. Whiskey is a part of the very fabric of Western society, and in most places, is as common and accessible as beer.
Like Jazz and wine, snobs have predictably hijacked whiskey appreciation, spoiling our natural, common connection with it and creating a false dichotomy of “good whiskey” and “bad whiskey.”
It’s time to break through the emotional bias with facts and science. That’s what this school is about.
** The only valid definition of “good” whiskey is “whiskey you like to drink.”
Learning how to share your love of whiskey in a way that connects people to the history and the story has more to do with public speaking and storytelling than it does with facts and tests.
The best way to learn about whiskey and share that love is to drink whiskey and talk about it with friends. Study the history, find the stories, and discover the culture and the methods that have been developed over hundreds of years. That’s what you’ll do when you attend The Whisk(e)y Marketing School.
** You don’t need a marketing degree to learn how to share your love of whiskey with the world.
There's an old saying, "In business, it's not what you know... It's who you know."
Regardless the industry you're in, most people are clumsy and ineffective when it comes to "networking" because they ignore a very important rule - Relationship First, Business Second.
There's a tremendous amount of curiosity about Whisk(e)y today. It's a great excuse for you to gather a group of people who want to have fun and learn something new. The Whisk(e)y School teaches you how to tap into that curiosity, and share your love of whisk(e)y in an unpretentious way. You're demonstrating knowledge, expertise, and an engaging personality - things valued by every gatekeeper, in every industry.
Or would you rather hand out business cards and cross your fingers?

@@Alex-jt1rz It's really all subjective. But since you're asking me, I'll give my personal feelings on the matter. I haven't gone back to Makers Mark in years. I’ve drank bourbon plenty of times in my life, but just to drink. I’ve never sat with one trying to pick out the various notes. So with a bit of curiosity I picked up a bottle of the Michter’s because how you guys ranted and raved over it. I sniffed, sipped, sniffed, sipped. Turns out I’m not very good at it. The only notes I could distinctly pick up were cream, caramel, and vanilla, with a little oak. One bottle later and my wife is bailing me out of jail for allegedly getting into a fist fight with my neighbor’s inflatable Santa. I’m no quitter. Got another bottle ready to go. Any advice?

And half of what becomes Woodford actually comes from the Old Forester distillery (column stills), with the other half coming from Woodford's pot stills (if memory serves).

Great channel, keep it coming guys. The 1st time I drank Eagle Rare I thought it was a fine sipping rum it’s so delicately sweet, but as you say, not so much it defies bourbon. That’s not to say all fine rum is sweet, some are clean and sharp and more like cognac. In my opinion, rums vary the most of any spirit in flavor and profile, but that’s a different story. I got 4 bottles of Eagle Rare from a famous outlet store for $27 per and thought I’d won the lottery! The Four Roses is wonderful and stepping up to the single barrel version is worth it, but I’ve seen the bottle you reviewed for under $30 and that’s all one can ask for. Elijah Craig barrel strength is just as you described and might offer every thing a bourbon can be without favoring one flavor profile over another. Maker’s is just boring for me and over marketed, but to each their own. Buffalo Trace is of course, classic. Of them all, Four Roses (more so the single barrel version) is best overall, Buffalo Trace, then Elijah. It’s difficult to rank Eagle Rare because it defies bourbon a bit (I know I said it didn’t, oops) and it is dangerously delicious. it is the absolute smoothest sipping, digestif candy bourbon that I often enjoy in replacement of dessert. I like drinking my dessert. Cheers!

I'm so glad to have found your channel this week! My mom introduced us kids to Wild Turkey 101 when she was making hot totties for us when I was a teenager. Gave us all a half a shot for shits 'n giggles. I'm the middle kid--shy, socially awkward, and adverse to risks. So when I reacted with, "Yum! Tastes like popcorn!" amid siblings hacking and gagging, her response was, "You're not supposed to like it!" Apparently Wild Turkey was her go to throughout the 80's--she was a logger/bartender/restauranteer. It's all I drank for the last decade. Now I'm branching out and trying the whiskey world, and I love finding content to steer me in one direction or another. Because risk aversion. ;P
