    It does and it doesn't. The only two issue it has out of the $600 box is horrific drag brake and weak servo. Gearing it down further would help the drag brake, maybe the 9 tooth pinion would give enough extra leverage for the drag brake to work effectively. And there are cheap servos for $25... add a $22 castle 10a bec plus the $6 pinion and you have a $650 rig that is going to be even better at crawling. Maybe even throw in a HH crawl master sport for $20. Mine, I put in a mamba x and puller pro 2700kv combo along with the traxxas 330 servo. I didn't go with the 400 servo because I saw RC Review's video comparing the two outputs and they were within 15ish ounces of each other at both voltages, but the 330 drew like 1.5 less amps. So i'm already at that grand mark without touching batteries, but I can recognize that its only slightly faster and, well a bit, quicker than the brushed version. So is the performance that drastic without the brushless system, not really... except for the drag brake which is amazing with a proper motor setup.

    You didn't think an extra driven axle increasing the surface area of the tires contact patch by 50% would benefit? Now I thought it would have trouble with maneuvering, but that's the miracle for me.

  • @KTMcaptain
    @KTMcaptain4 жыл бұрын

    7:05 Yes the vehicle is heavier... but... it has 50% more tires to support that weight. Side hilling a 9 lbs rig with 3 wheels supporting the majority of the weight is actually the same load as a 6 lbs vehicle with 2 wheels supporting the majority of the weight. So the sidewall shouldn't flex more. Now, climbing onto objects where the intermediate or rear axle is lifted will shift the majority of the much heavier truck onto only 2 wheels, but that might just provide for a greater footprint and traction.

    Howdy from SATX! I strongly believe the ProTek LiHV 3s 4100 mah would make your top 5 list! ... in fact, for all TRX’s ... so small and very lightweight but powerful with that extra voltage ... it gives it a very noticeable extra punch ... the stock esc accepts it but only comes in deans connecter so I recommend you remove the connector on the battery (and the stock esc) to avoid the hassle of an adapter ... very recommended though! 👍🏽 ohh and I can charge 4 at a time per channel on the hobbymate duo pro no problem 👍🏽👍🏽

    Thanks for all the reviews. I just bought myself a TRX-6 because of your reviews ;-) But i got a question: the servo upgrade: you recommend a Traxxas 400, yet your comment also says a Savor 1210. It seems for the Traxxas 400, that you need a seperate servo-horn ( that's fine ) and a high-voltage upgrade kit ( TRX2262 )? With those added, it costs €130 just for the combination, but the Savox 'only' 80. Is that High-voltage kit really needed? And only for the Traxxas 400, so not for the Savox??

    I'd say it depends on what you want to do. They're both different from your TRX4. The TRX6 is obviously similar but will be different enough to be fun. If you really like trailing and want to drive a big bad 6X6 then obviously TRX6. If you want to do more slow technical rock crawling then get a Capra. You can still trail with it but that's not its intended design in my opinion.

    Always brushless? Why do not use a surpass 5-slot brushed motor with the HW quicrun wp1080 esc? Very good performance and brilliant controlling. Much cheaper.

    That is a very good option for sure and what we have in most of our vehicles. This one though is 10 lbs and it could really benefit from all that punch and braking. The 2-speed tranny and unlocking diffs enable it to harness power.

    Do you think an overdrive or an underdrive in the middle axle could be any good ?

  • @RCReviewChannel

    @RCReviewChannel

    It doesn't seem like it'll make a difference since the front wheels are up in the air on the steepest parts. Underdrive on the rear most axle would be my first try.

  • @RCReviewChannel

    @RCReviewChannel

    Yes, because it's a 5-channel with locking diffs and 2 speed tranny, it is a little hard to use another radio. It can be done but the advantage is not big and the learning curve is high.

  • @KTMcaptain

    @KTMcaptain

    You'll need different axle links and rear most driveshaft in order to get the thing to clear the rear tires. And moving the rear axle further would give issue to the locker cable, so you can either relocate the servo or spool up that axle.

    Laszlo Earle RC you’ll want to buy the lift kit for the trx4... personally, if I went down this road I wouldn’t buy the extra shocks and leave the intermediate axle stuck with the 90 mm stock shocks and place the 110mm long arm shocks on the 4 corners. Here is a video where this guy used the lift kit to get massive real 2.2 tires on it. It looks great. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eYt3x9lxqLXWgpM.html

    @@KTMcaptain the thing with the long arm lift kit is that it does not improve travel due to limiters it only makes the cg of the truck higher where as if you have shocks on full droop the cg will be the same because it will sit at the same hight or just a tad higher but the axle will be able to droop down more and the lift kit is tediously expensive

  • @KTMcaptain

    @KTMcaptain

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@laszloearlerc7155 That's actually a common misconception. Longer travel shocks and springs will allow the body to lean further. That would make side hilling much more difficult. You can remove the limiters from those shocks and run it at a normal ride height. Either way the rear tires don't have enough clearance not to bind on each other without those extended arms.
