Right, a lot of folks downplay the role of advisors until being burnt by their emotions, no offense. I remember some years back, during the covid-outbreak, I needed a good boost to stay afloat, hence researched for advisors and thankfully came across one with grit. Certainly. Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) are popular for long-term investments due to their diversified nature. ETFs offer exposure to a wide range of assets, such as stocks, bonds, or commodities, which can help reduce risk. Some top choices for long-term investing include broad market index ETFs, sector-specific ETFs, and bond ETFs, as they provide potential for growth and income over an extended period while minimizing the risk associated with individual stocks.

Numerous compelling stocks span various industries for you to consider tracking. While it's not necessary to act on every prediction, enlisting the guidance of a financial advisor is advisable. They can assist you in determining optimal entry and exit points for purchasing and selling shares or ETFs, ensuring well-timed decisions aligned with your investment goals.

I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

Hi Brian, Of some of the Semi Conductor ETFs available I went with the Invesco (PSI) Inception 06/23/2005. Since inception date the NAV is 13.05% pa at 30 November 2023. I like the looks of the Van Eck (SMH) as well. These must be some of the most aggressive return non-leveraged ETFs there are I reckon. SMH NAV since Inception date (12/21/2011) as at 30 November 2023 is 23.48% pa. I realise you are looking at returns up to the last 5 years however. But in my opinion Invesco PSI is a good performer considering the 13.05% pa NAV increase has gone through the 2008 GFC and the Pandemic and yet is still over 13% pa average and over such a long period of time.

The 3 year returns on these tech etfs are a bit skewed compared to the S&P 500 because of covid. Like Cathie Wood's tech portfolios a lot of these industries got an artificial boost during lockdowns ( remember Amazon and Netflix being the only places you could even spend money at one point ). S&P 500 was pushed down while these were pushed up, making the performance from then till now look askew.

  • @AJohnson0325

Most of the ETFs that outperform the market are just mostly apple and microsoft stock. Some are even 25% apple and 25% microsoft. Warren buffett, who has over 80 years of investing experience, has almost half his portfolio in apple stock. Most of the returns of the market as a whole are due to a small handful of stocks. Personally, I like dividend growth ETFs but I’m increasing my holdings in a few of these stocks so the holdings at least match the weight in the S&P. You also don’t have to pay any fees for owning individual stocks. I also own some XLK that has done very well. My goal is to be able to live off dividends in retirement without significantly underperforming the market. I don’t want to sell anything to have to live. I still want to invest in retirement.

Good video. I've been in high yield dividend ETFs over the last 2 years and over all did not do well. If I stuck my money in say QQQ and just left it I would have done150% over those 2 years. Point I'm trying to make here is to do well in the market you need to be patient and invest in good stuff. Everyone wants to get rich quick and end up losing.

Yes, SMH is the top semiconductor ETF However, the reason I don’t on there is because I own a mutual fund, that is even better and that is FSELX from Fidelity If you put the two of them in whatever comparison tool that you use the mutual fund wins in every category except the High Expense Ratio But as you know, performances what counts, and in every one year, five-year ten-year 15 year back testing, it has proven to be the best I wish it was an ETF but it’s not It has serve me very well SMH would be my choice if it wasn’t for the performance of FSELX

  • @BusinessWithBrian

    2 ай бұрын

I talk about this in a few other videos. It depends on your age and appetite for risk. I have a larger portion in high growth stock/ETF and a medium portion in a market index like VOO. Once I get older, I'll shift some of that to be more VOO, but as long as I have 27 months of liquidity available, then I can easily ride out the average recession. Something I also discuss in other videos. I hope that helps. But please know I can't give advice, I can only state my opinion on what I am doing.
