And that dude had a pretty good “oh really” comeback, posting a picture he had with the McMahons from a Tribute to the Troops show. Edge is the real OG of Money in the Bank concept. He was the first ever winner and his un-announced cash in on Cena at New Year's Revolution made him the Ultimate Opportunist. Following year he interfered in the RVD vs Cena match at One Night stand to stick it to Cena again. He then went on to steal another World title next year by cashing in on a beaten up Undertaker. The tables turned the year after where he was on the receiving end of CM Punk's first cash-in for the World title. And last, the year after CM Punk again cashed in on Jeff Hardy who had just won the title minutes prior in a Ladders match against who else, Edge. So for the first five years, it was literally Edge who was involved in the outcome of the MITB in some capacity.

Yeah Money in the Bank works the same as the Royal Rumble, King of the Ring or even Elimination Chamber. If its got an ongoing story between some/all of the participants, great, but its effectively a multi-person number-one contenders match so it doesn't need much backstory. These 6,8 or even 30 participants want a title shot, they have to fight in a grueling ladder/cage/battle royal/tournament to earn it. Simple. TLC and Hell in a Cell don't work when someone's only been feuding with someone else for a month or two, or even 2 weeks in the case of Roman Reigns v. Rey Mysterio last week.

Seems like just giving it away, at least to me. At the very least the title could have been held up and either have Asuka cash in to be part of the match to determine the new Women's champion or cash in after the match, or at a later date.

I get it if you still don’t care for it, but I think saying Asuka was gifted the title isn’t accurate. The worst thing about Corbin's cash-in (aside from the no-ropes-for-leverage roll-up) is that Cena didn't even do anything to distract him. At that angle, Corbin could not have seen Cena (which is how Cena likes it, I guess), so Corbin turns around right after the bell rings to throw a punch. I guess we could say Corbin heard him get on the apron, but still. He drops his guard and turns his back on Jinder literally the moment the bell rings.
