In this lesson, you'll learn 5 beginner bass lines that people will recognize and love - and get people to pay attention to YOUR playing.
You see, bass is usually a 'supporting' instrument that goes unnoticed. There are tons of easy guitar riffs or piano riffs that people know and recognize, but if you played the bass lines to any of those songs, people would just look at you and say,
"What the ^$&* was that supposed to be?"
The bass lines (even the easy bass lines) aren't very recognizable. However, there are a few gems - a few songs where the bass line IS the song.
These are the kind of songs where people will immediately recognize the bass line and start singing along. And the best part - these are BEGINNER bass lines. They're a great place to start.
So next time someone asks you to 'play something' (I can't stand it when people say this...) you'll have something in your arsenal that is guaranteed to impress.
Cheers,
Luke
P.S. Here are the links to all the songs so you can play along with the real deal:

I was actually booed in a party for playing bass as the "guitar wasn't loud enough" lol. A girl approached me once thinking that I was the guitar player for the cover song of war pigs (Black Sabbath). Once she learnt that I was a bass player, she pretty much said that I was just moving around my fingers fast for nothing. To be fair, she was pretty drunk. Even after all this, I remain a proud bassist. I learnt the bass first then the guitar. And I always chose to play the bass.

I had an absolutely fabulous time with this lesson. It was great fun. A good choice of basslines for a novice player to get stuck into...
I've just recently started to learn bass guitar, and the only instrument I've ever played was a recorder in 5th grade, but I was able to understand this, I'm so happy I found this video!
My first riff on bass was the intro on peace sells, as a guitarist it was what made me also pick up bass (that and the lack of any decent bass players in my area)
First, day with my bass, this made me feel so accomplished, i could play this no problem!! Thank you :D
This is fun, picking up the bass again, I'm hooked!

That's great Remco! Good to hear you're having a good time!
I have 40+ years playin bass and I support this video. Great place for beginning bass players.
I'm at the stage in life where I really appreciate skill. Whether music, sport, medicine, building or whatever. Find something to do and be good at it. It's a wonderful thing. Learn one thing well. Don't dabble. Oh and I'm learning to play bass. Great job Luke.
I'm more or less just starting my musical adventure. About 1 month in, couple dozen hours with bass. Seems easier to me. Still learning the notes to the frets, but this numbering method is teaching me faster as a means to achieve results. Still getting my fingers and hands used to it, also. The guys I'm learning and practicing with are pretty impressed with my results so far. Timing with hand movement and placement is challenging. I'm definitely making positive progress and have a great bunch of people around to help.

Been watching the videos as I have started to teach myself bass guitar, its making sense, the tabs are how you are looking down on your guitar strings. EADG . I love how they make things simple and step by step.
I’m a guitar player but I always like to expand myself so learning base doesn’t sound too bad. It’s looks fun actually.

Haha! Thanks Michael. I hope the videos help.
Well, this is cool. I didn't get confused right away...you work slow enough for beginners. I almost never thumbs up or sub. I did both. Most people use these videos just to show off, not to teach anyone anything I use a notebook for all my instruments and write down everything I practiced, whatever I read or ran thru and stuff I need to work on. Video is a huge help (I mean film yourself) Working on drums, piano, guitar and bass. I could already sing as a singing drummer (assuming it's not Peart drum lines) and I do this stuff as early as possible so i can't procrastinate. Writing it all down with how much time I did on what. Goal to learn something new every day: sheet reading, ear training, theory, some stuff of some kind. I'd like to see pop and slap. Mad because I bought a book with downloads and didn't realize they used two audio tracks for the whole book. Never SHOWING you about pop and slap. More profit for Hal Leonard, I guess...because CDs have a lot more content. We'll, see if it works. This was bass builders Funk Bass 2nd ed, btw.
Thank you for being so clear!
