Here's a fun story, when i went to see Cannibal Corpse live, and the roadies were setting up the stage, the DJ at the venue was playing an entire Six Feet Under record through the PA. A Graveyard Classics album no less, no clue which one. You could see that the dudes setting up the stage were almost bursting into laughter and headbanging as a joke.

Good list. Not going to lie, I like a few select SFU albums (Haunted, Maximum Violence, Undead), but most of their catalogue is terrible, especially their Graveyard “Classics” series (more like Graveyard Abominations). I also like some old Dream Theater albums (Images and Words, Awake, Metropolis Pt. 2, as well as most of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence), but their stuff from 2000-onwards just does nothing for me. There’s not many bands I actively despise, but there are a few that I’ve never clicked with: -Sodom (outside of Tapping the Vein) -Queens of the Stone Age (outside of a few singles) -Deafheaven (nothing to do with the “they’re not real black metal” bullshit, just never enjoyed black gaze as a whole) -Dissection (their particular style of symphonic black metal just doesn’t click with me for some reason) -Voivod (I really want to like this band, but I think it’s because of Snake’s lead vocals. I don’t like them very much.)

I love early Carach Angren, especially "Death Came Through a Phantom Ship" where the use of orchestral elements only add a grand, cinematic presence to the music rather than making it sound cheesy like Dimmu Borgir. He has mentioned two of the bands I can stand in the metal genre: SFU and DT. I remember seeing SFU a few years ago and walking out early because it was ridiculous for me and too emo for me because all the emo and hardcore kids were there. DT, I tried so hard to get into them and I just couldn’t, because it was starting to become a snooze fest for me with the long songs... however I like some long songs that have great riffs, solos, or can tell a great story, but constant changes becomes too much and makes me want to skip to the next. But the one I really dislike the most is CoF, and I think that’s enough said!

Poser.... Good video! It's actually kind of hard for me to think of bands that I have a strong dislike/hate for. I might say Revenge and Death Worship, but that's not so much dislike as it is their reputation vs my own inability to get into them.... Dream Theater is okay for me, just never really spent a whole lot of time with the band outside of the one album I bought forever ago. Six Feet Under, I sort of dig a little bit. I enjoy the groove/stoner aspect to the band. Barnes vocals are certainly unique. They're definitely not a top favorite band or anything though.... Thanks!

Everyone has a different point of view and just forcing a band onto someone who doesn't like them is just pointless and can make the person just dislike it even more.
I’m sorry. I’m kind of stuck on the fact that you actually put “Dream Theater” and “extreme metal” in the same sentence.

Dream Theater are my all time favorite band. But I agree, the fan base is quite strange. People complaining when people don’t get the music and saying it’s because their “dumb and can’t comprehend its brilliance”. Even worse, there are die hard fans who only like 1 or a few albums and shit talk the rest. I don’t understand it. If you were trying to give it a shot. I would recommend songs like The Mirror or Lie that are on the shorter side (about 6 minutes). If you want to try a longer song, The Glass Prison and In The Name of God I think are amongst their best and most consistent longer songs, meaning they don’t change feel often. Just trying to offer a different perspective.

Here are the bands I hate (In no order): 1. Hatebreed - I've listened to a whole bunch of Hatebreed's songs but I can't grasp the context of them. And the fact that they are labelled as metalcore really bugs me considering the fact that they have no metalcore characteristics whatsoever. One thing I really like seeing in a band's songwriting is the use of similes, metaphors, onomatopeia, etc., but as far as I know Hatebreed doesn't do that. Deep down, I really want to like them, but I just can't. However, I will say the only Hatebreed song I like is Perseverance, mainly becasue it talks about fighting cancer, which I can relate to since I lost my aunt and papaw to cancer. Other than that, fuck Hatebreed. 2. Limp Bizkit - The main reason I hate them is mainly because of Fed Durst. He is a complete douchebag. All he sings about is how he's better than this person or that person and how he can fight them easily. Plus their cover of Metallica's Sanitarium is just God-awful. 3. Memphis May Fire - There are plenty of Christian bands I enjoy, but not these guys. Their songwriting is predicatble. They have no creativity, and it all points down to Matty Mullins. He has to be one of the most down-trodden Christians I know. He's so attatched to his beliefs that he has to let everyone know. Now I am a Christian myself, but I have no time for Evangialism, contemporaries or anything they stand for. Get this through your head: NO ONE GIVES A FUCK ABOUT WHAT OU BELIEVE IN. Your life does not consistently revolve around God. 4. Fall Out Boy - Fall Out Boy has some of the most boing rock music I've ever heard. When I heard their song "Immortals" I was bored halfway through the song. Plus, their singer is just annoying. If anything else their fanbase really gets on my nerves. 5. Bon Jovi - Bon Jovi is probably the first band I came to despise. The first time I heard them was in my English class junior year. We were studying transcendentalism and my teacher (to my suprise cuz I never thought she liked music like this) played their song "It's My Life" and to me it was real cringy. I tried to se if they had anything better, but to me they just don't. 6. Emmure - They have done absolutely nothing special with metal. They're pretty much all the same. What pesters me the most is Frankie Palmeri's vocal style. The way he growls from a growl or a scream to a sort of speaking style is really cringy. A few of their songs are ok, but if they make some improvements in the future, then I'll reconsider my opinion. 7. Liturgy - Watch CountBlagorath's "Bands I Hate" video for the reason. Now keep this in mind: This is only my opinion. If you like these bands, then awesome. Listen to them as much as you want. I am in no way attacking those who like them nor am I looking for a response war.

Carach Angren to me are like the Cradle of Filth/Dimmu Borgir of the new generation, meaning cheesy and commercial black metal for non-black-metal fans. And I actually like a lot of super synthy BM like Summoning, Limbonic Art, early Nokturnal Mortum, early Emperor, Rotting Christ, Vordven, Elffor, Elysian Blaze, Nortt, Dolorian, etc. It's how they use them to aid atmosphere rather than just make everything all warm and syrupy sounding.

So fucking glad you didn't bring up Tool I would have cried lmao

I own some Dream Theater too but I too haven't loved the last 4 to 5 albums of theirs. You are not coming off as an elitist and you are generally giving your opinion. Here’s my thing. I can understand that there’s bands people don’t like, I have bands I don’t like myself. But to say any musician “sucks” I would never do. I absolutely understand you don't like Dream Theater. Altough I'm a big DT fan (and prog rock fan in general), there is sometimes the feeling that its almost too perfect. As a Dream Theater fan I use to not like them, and it wasn’t because I was dumb, but because my tastes in music at the time were more groove based, and less about the absurd wankery. Over time I started liking them more because I learned to appreciate it and eventually became a big fan. Intelligence has nothing to do with not liking Dream Theater, and I do actually not like most of the other fans of this band, same way with other tool fans.
DUDE FUCK. AGREED ABOUT CARACH EXCEPT FOR WHERE THE CORPSES SINK. I think Lammendam is good too tho :c Also giggled a bit at the "in extreme metal" goof at the beginning of the DT bit :P IM LAUGHING MY ASS OFF LISTENING TO INTOLITARIAN AND ARROGANCE BAHAHA and your impersonation of the opening to the Intolitarian album almost put me in tears X,D Btw based on how you feel about the relatively consistent heavy use of orchestrations in carach and the extended song structures of Dream Theater, if you ever see a band called "Spectria" next year or any time after you'd probably be doing yourself a favor to avoid anything that band puts out like the plague :)
Nice descriptions. I didn't come here to argue, but I couldnt even if I tried. So, nice work!

never got the idea behind Six Feet Under and I totally agree with you on their AC/DC - Covers. Abysmal... and for Dream Theater. Three good albums. That was it. "Awake" is the benchmark when it comes to prog-metal. But after that it is just downhill ever since
IDK how I came across your channel but I subscribed.... Hammer down the nails...
I hate anything slayer has put out post seasons in the abyss and I agree with every point you made about six feet under even though I liked their first album. Also I dislike any extreme metal band that uses clean vocals a lot in their songs. That shit makes me cringe when I hear clean vocals in extreme metal.
I definitely hate Six feet under (specially the TNT cover). But there is a band I saw last summer which blew me away for how band I thought they were.. I’m talking about Sinistro from Portugal. I just remember myself wanting to fucking go to sleep (btw the only reason I was there was because I was waiting for Anaal Nathrakh to come on stage). The members are mostly wery big and hairy Latino guys but the lead singer is a tiny woman who was basically just talking while the guys were playing some crappy songs. Sinistro gets my number one definitely!
I love early Carach Angren, especially "Death Came Through a Phantom Ship" where the use of orchestral elements only add a grand, cinematic presence to the music rather than making it sound cheesy like Dimmu Borgir. Everything after "Where the Corpses Sink Forever" has just been so stale and cringy, a shame really...
Haha, sounds like an angry bedtime story. Very good description, but then I suppose it's meant to be. The only thing I don't like about Carach Angren is the Narrative done in black metal vocals. I like black metal vocals, but when spoken passages are done in them they sound like some kid playing doing a 'baddie' voice.
You need to take a deep look into what Mya's Shole has been producing lately. It's noisy blackened sludge. I bet you'd like it
I love Carach angren but their earlier stuff ... I genuinely feel like they have so much potential that they've kinda let get away from them as it stands
Dream Theater is the quintessential Sam Ash assistant manager speed metal band.
I checked kulterkampf by totalitarian and it didn't even sound bad. Could you give me some examples of their worse music? Edit: Nevermind I was listening to the wrong band
Can't come out with more than Tool and Tesseract for the very same reasons you said Dream Theatre
As far as carafe hungren goes I just looked them up never listened to them and it was a live performance. 1 they had this verse riff that was almost a exact copy of the reign in blood intro. 2. It’s really hard to make your black metal bad look evil when you have skid mark corpse paint full body leather suits especially if your the dude playing the stand up keyboard.

And yes I also know the similarities to all I said to cradle of filth as well. But call me a poser I like c.o.f.
Síx feet under has some terríble songs but they also have amazing ones. They don't take them selves too seriously and just have fun and I respect them also "Torn to the bone'' is a great song
I was listening to On The Backs of Angels by Dream Theater as you were mentioning it and I couldn't help but laugh. Also, the song is almost 9 minutes long, not 20, but you're right about how their songs have ridiculous length. I believe their longest song is like 25 or 26 minutes long, could be wrong

Their longest "song" is Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, that goes over 40 minutes. It's my favorite song ever.
Video suggestion: 5 bands you liked and then disliked over the years, or vice versa 😅
Does anyone have a link or so to Arrogance music and the second spot? I can't find anything online and I'm very curious

Six Feet Under to me is what death metal sounds like to people who don't like death metal
As a Dream Theater fan myself, the fandom and Tool’s fans as well can get really pretentious sometimes haha!
Thanks!
I like a few of the bands that you mentioned, but it's perfectly fine you don't like them. Everyone has an opinion and I don't understand why loads of people are getting triggered. Everyone has a different point of view and just forcing a band onto someone who doesn't like them is just pointless and can make the person just dislike it even more.
1. Sleep Token 2. Sleep Token 3. Sleep Token 4. Sleep Token 5. Sleep Token
I’m sorry. I’m kind of stuck on the fact that you actually put “Dream Theater” and “extreme metal” in the same sentence.
Subscribed just cause of how fucking hilarious that intolitarian impression was
Totally agree about Dream Theatre - nice to hear it from someone else. Thought I was going crazy.
Dream Theater is definitely overrated, but for me they're saved by the fact that Images and Words and Metropolis part 2 are both great albums that I really enjoy. Other than that, I can't say I disagree with any of your points.

Oh, and my list is made up of Liturgy, Six Feet Under, and most ultra-brutal slam death metal bands with bree bree vocals. Other than that I find it difficult to actively dislike most metal bands.

I find most Dream Theater to be boring but those two album you listed are great. I wish they didn't go so over the top and pretentious as their career went on...but it's undeniable that they have at least a few good albums.
It’d be cool if you made another video like this when work gets less hectic for you
1 and 2 I cant find there music anywhere I was curious to hear them
Thanks for introducing me to intolitarian and arrogance they both sound really good indeed.
with Dream Theater you gotta really pick n choose stuff in there catalog that are good, %90 of there stuff is is soooo filler and cringy and boring but they do have some good stuff like Under a Glass Moon
I sadly cant talk to other dream theater fans, which sucks because we all love talking about what we love. I honestly love their sound, but their fans make the whole atmosphere of the band a bit sour
I share the same opinion on Carach Angren. A shame really, they prosimed a lot more with their third album.
I stopped paying attention to Tribulation after their awesome debut 'The Horror'. They changed their sound to what I'm not into.

This is Anthony carosella. If u don't like dream theater, you definitely won't like the first vinnie vincent invasion album. Killer album but way too much going on in that record!!
