Great video! Would love to see more informational videos on "menopausal/estrogen deficient skin". Love that you brought up this topic!
The earrings are a nice touch. They’re unusual and super cute. Thank you for the info!
Thank you for talking about menopause! I'm 45 and post-menopausal. My skin is in horrible condition at the moment and I know menopause is contributing to it.
Boy, I needed to see this video when I was put on Retinol! I was working as a receptionist, so I greeted everyone who came in to GE medical equipment. My face was red, tight, I had no idea what to use on it, I had to stop wearing my make-up and I was super uncomfortable. The derm at the time told me it will get worse before it gets better. I cried a lot, refused to go anywhere and ultimately stopped using it. Sadly, the derm I was seeing didn't give me any suggestions to use on it or any help for that matter! I obviously quit seeing him. He needs to take several classes from you! I don't know what was available back in the 1980's... other than Accutane. In order for me to go on that drug, he wanted me to go on Birth Control Pill. My hormones were already a mess and my periods were never every 28 days. You probably weren't even born yet and I needed YOU back then! lol I am so appreciative and admire your desire to educate people on their skin and all the products, how to use them and what not to use. Thank you kindly. You are much appreciated!
Thank you so much for your videos! I just love learning more and more with you! I appreciate it so much that you talked about mature skin on this video too! ❤️👏🏼👏🏼
I literally got on KZread to search Dr Dray’s videos for exactly this topic, and here it is 🤯 Thank You!
You're absolutely one if the most caring people I know. I wish more doctors were like you. Your patients are very lucky. You're always offering solutions and alternatives to such a wide range of skin issues. Thanks so much! Happy Monday, Dr Dray!! I hope you have a peaceful evening. 💕
I may be addicted to these lectures. Dr. Dray is so elegant in explaining dermatology & great stuff we can get to improve😎
I’m actually using all of these ingredients except the Emepelle product. I alternate my evening routine between a custom Curology product (tretinoin, azelaic acid, niacinamide) and glycolic acid serum. I use Vitamin C serum in the morning. I need to look into this Emepelle product. You have over 1000 videos on KZread and still seem to come up with new topics daily. Amazing. Thanks

I've been using emepelle since July and have seen a big difference. (10 yrs past menopause). It's pricey but lasts 3 mo or so. The night cream has retinol too. Thanks dr drey for all you do!!
Thank you so much! Last week I found out, that I’m pregnant. 😍 But I love my retinol. Now I know, what to do, while I have to stop using my retinol. Sadly, nothing can replace my BHA for me.
Dr. Dray is the best!
I never thought I could use a retinol nightly but I can now! I started with adapolene once a week but a very small pea sized amount and over moisturizer. Through the months I would slowly up the frequency and amount. It was a very very slow process. I’d inspect my skin every night. If II had zero irritation I’d use it. If not, I’d wait until it was fine again. It took over a year but now I can use it without any issues. And it was absolutely worth this slow process, assuming there are no allergies to it. At 45 my skin looks better now than it did in my 20s.

Your videos and advice is always informative and reconfirming. I have always had oily, acne prone skin, and as I have aged, rosacea, has become an added problem. I’ve been to many dermatologists over the years with minimal, mostly temporary, improvements. The best results were using certain low-dose antibiotics, which they assured me I could continue taking long term with no problems - WRONG. Long story shorter, with the advice of a very sharp dermatologist PA, which, I only saw a few times, and some intensive self- study, for the last three years or so I have daily used a regimen of a probiotic, niacinamide (10%), azelaic acid (15%), and as Dr. Dray continually tells us, daily sunscreen - something I rarely used during most of my life. The results have been almost life changing. I have not had a “break-out” in about two years. And, when I do occasional have a pimple start to form, it is normally stunted and gone in a few days.
I love the information you share, especially about glycolic acid and deeper skin tones. Dr. Vanita Rattan has educated me on this too. Also HRT breast cancer is rife in my family so I will steer clear as my doctor has also explained. "Knowledge is power" THANK YOU. ❤️

I am sooo happy you made this video. I tried adapalene for about half a year and it only went so far before I noticed my skin was no longer improving to a point that I know it’s seen before with other acne-fighting products! Good to know that other ingredients/products that I have tried before (thus I know work for me) also have the ability to boost up collagen production. I am curious however if I’ve just been using the adapalene incorrectly because I didn’t experience too much irritation, but just found that my bumpy skin texture and whiteheads were not going away.
I'm 20 weeks pregnant and needed this!🙌 Will try these as alternatives ☺

Dr Dray thank you so so much for this video. Perfect timing. I spoke to my doctor last week about HRT (50 yrs old now). I've been suffering for over a year and a half. Deep depression, extreme fatigue ( can't drive etc), hair loss, blepharitis, cellulite, wrinkles on forehead deeper, saggy cheeks, sunken eyes etc. Ive never been like this before. I have never had cellulite all my life and my hair has always been really thick then all of a sudden everything started changing. Thank you again soooo sooo much. Hi, Dr Dray! I learned so much about skincare since I've been watching you🤗. Thank you so much for all the useful information💙🦋
I was just thinking about this question!
Hey DR Dray! Why do some esthetician’s speak horribly of drugstore skincare while dermatologist praise it ?
@db-gb5xi
2 жыл бұрын
Because most esty's are trying to sell you expensive spa products (some derms are as well). Though some of them do truly believe that expensive spa is better than drugstore. Dr Dray, Lab Muffin, The Budget Dermatologist all have videos on medical-grade vs drugstore skin care. By that same token, derm Dr. Ania Marie, MD also has a video giving the opposite position.

@@db-gb5xi I am an esthetician and agree with this haha. A lot of our training as esthis is from brands, and we get a lot of skincare for free, so we also recommend what we use. I think a lot of us used drugstore before and it seemed like an upgrade. And the textures of some of the expensive stuff are really nice. But I recommend more drugstore now since fragrance-free is often available. :)

@@Viennafly1 I think one of the things that came up re: this subject was that luxury products contain liposomes. Okay, but lecithin which falls under that category is found in some less expensive products same with phospholipids. There's stuff at all price points to please everyone. Derms are also usually coming into a skincare situation after the damage has been done so they want gentle, clinically proven effective products/ingredients.

The Party Peel by The Route is great for people who cannot tolerate Retinol. Sold at Ulta, Sephora, online, etc.
I tolerate it, but struggle with getting it close to my eyes, and yet, thats an area i want to target. So this is good to know
Hi Dr. Dray! Thank you very much for another informative video. I am using retinol 3-4 times a week for four months now. Is it normal to have peeling every time I skip using retinol when my skin is stinging?
Great info! Would the Vitamin C serum be best applied after a moisturizer?
I have been using a bamboo product as a retinol replacement and I really like it. Brand name is Eminence.
I have sensitive skin so it's good to know what can be used instead of retinol products. There are a couple of otc retinol creams I can use periodically without irritation. However most retinoid products cause too much irritation in the form of constant itching. I had to stop using Differin on my face because of the drying/itchiness. I do use it on my upper chest and forearms to try and lighten sun damage without irritation, thankfully.

Could you make a video about what products are safe during pregnancy ? Please 🙏. Thank you 😊
Dr Dray, could you please make a video for those of us with mature skin (post menopausal) with rosacea type 2. I have a lot of sun damage (lived closed to the equator and beaches most of my life). I find that my skin prefers gel type moisturizers, so I don’t know what to use during winter. When using cerave lotion, I break out. Cerave pm dries my skin out a lot, I get full of fine wrinkles. I have prescription azelaic acid that also dries out my skin so I only uses on affected areas. I use Aveeno calm and restore serum and sometimes the matching gel moisturizer. The moisturizer I use most is the Neutrogena hydro boost gel cream (fragrance free). I find that getting into winter I need to layer it on thick. I think I need something thicker during cold windy weather. I do use an estrogen vaginal ring, but I don’t think it helps my face. Unfortunately I don’t tolerate any other estrogen. I only tolerate mineral sunscreens which dry my skin further. My skin used to be oily in the t zone. I just want a simple routine to get my face hydrated, reduce the visible sunspots, if posible get some collagen replenished. I’m vegan. I can’t afford fancy laser treatments. I have been following for over a year and I have learned more from you than my dermatologist. Thank you.
Fabulous video. Are you ever going to do a random question video with questions about you?
Great video! So would it be better to use Emepelle over tretinoin since I’m post menopausal? Or do they do the same thing?🤔 Since turning 50 and being post menopausal I’ve noticed major skin changes. I use tretinoin from Curology (mixed with a couple other ingredients) and I do notice some drying and I almost feel it’s making my wrinkles look worse. Or maybe at this point they were going to look worse anyways. 🤷🏼♀️

Hi Dr. Dray. Thank you for the informative video. I had expected two other ingredients, bakuchiol and rambutan extract, would be mentioned but actually not.
