Hello from a train guy from Monroe NC. Once served by the Seaboard Air Line Being I came into this world in the late 1960s.I saw boxcars from the 1940 and 50s.My school was right beside the Seaboard Coast Line now CSX..I started out in ho trains but my eye sight changed. So I got out of ho trains. Went to I gauge train thanks to MTH trains.I have mainly steam.mohawks ( mountain type to us southern folks).I do have a few Lionel steamers.I have posted some videos at eric oxner here. Or at 889ts lived in a motel home for a bit ran some long freight trains..Your layout looks pretty darn good.Nevrr thought buildings trees would make a difference on a smaller layout layout. But you proved what could be done.

That's an old Atlas track plan . I recognize it. I was in HO for 60 years. Nowin O Gauge i bought some subway 🚇 train sets. I model a prosperous PENN CENTRAL and my cut off date is the BI - Centennial. 1976 short cars from the old days were still in service. No Big Boys next to a SD 70. I like Weaver trains . I also runlots ofMPC cars as well. I love American made trains. I bought a MTH Trainland hobby shop. Met Frank Sinatra there and we talked about train s. I have a ton of die cast freight cars . They seem more realistic because they are all metal and they thump thru dismonds and switches. Most people don't have the room for a club sized layout so l think a small train of metal cars is better than atrain of plastic ones. Just my 2 cents.

Depending on the era you model, the center road stripes didn’t turn to yellow intel sometime in the 1970s. Before that the center line was white with yellow stripes in your lane for no passing areas. So do accordingly for the year you model.

@@calebeastertrains a lot of people make that error. One of my pet peeves. I have seen a lot of otherwise realistic layouts with this faux paux.
