Wow, so glad he's okay. Clearly that could have been worse but was't which was good, be safe out there at all times. We all make jokes about stuff like this but nobody ever wants anyone to get hurt. Hope he gets some new parts and gets back out on the trail as soon as he can. Cheers

I was out there trying to run the switchbacks that day. She was a sleepery one i eard about it but never saw the video until now . Glad to see no major injury. Jeep is metal

As gnarly as that YJ flipping was .. it held up pretty well under the circumstances .. My XJ flipped once and looked way worse.

Crazy how 3 vehicles can take the exact same route and have 3 completely different results, one of them being life threatening rollover. Snow is so unpredictable! I'm glad everyone's ok

I used to wheel with a guy that had his foot in it every second, like it was an on/off switch. Then he would complain that his truck broke down a lot..... Sometimes, it really is the driver.

Scary stuff, when that happens all you can think about is the roll ending……

So glad that he is ok

Glad no injuries.... that jeep has added trail character now..great idea for a video showing the rebuild with a time lapse and update with the rebuild progress... curious to know if brake failure was a cause

It was scary for sure, I’ve been involved in a few flops but never a multiple rollover before. He was Lucky for sure to walk away with no injuries

as long as everybody is ok

Tire chains are great, but if you only have 2 chains, chains your fronts not your backs, much better for braking and still help when going forward. Glad everyone is ok though!! It's all about learning!

Back in the day when most of us had open diffs the rule was chain both back wheels and only one front as chaining up all 4 was prone to breaking axles. Now that many of us have locking diffs and or limited slip I wounder if chaining one front and one rear on opposite corners might be a better idea?

@@brbadventurer on a locked system that would work, but unless you had a really good clutch type LSD I think you would still slip the non chained tire, I never thought about the older vehicles having weaker axles, and being aged I guess snaping and old axle is very possible

Yep, going downhill, need chains on front wheels, for 70% break controle at least, rear are sliding anyway, due to low weight pressure on those. Like you prefer lockers on the rearend while going up hill ;-)

Hahah I just remember it being super bouncy in the truck then flying in to the tree.

Unfortunately, with this set up not too much… it was a very slick, steep hill. Best thing to have is very low gearing to rely on vs. Using breaks. As soon as your breaks lock up you have no control.

Dang. Hope he can rebuild Bigger and better.

That was a scary turn-over. Also an educational opportunity. I am glad the driver was not seriously injured. I noticed how the driver's seat-belt did not lock him into the seat well. The seat-belt loosened and allowed him to come out of the seat and his right arm to come out the top of the passenger side, over the top of the roll-bar cage (never a good thing). The seat-belt appears to be an inertia wheel type seat-belt instead of the stronger fixed NASCAR type lap belt? If it were my vehicle that did that to me, I would be evaluating new types of lap belt to retrain me, for off road.

It was scary for sure but, fortunately the seat belt did keep him in. What your seeing is a red sweater, which he wasn’t wearing. But yes, some type of harness would be best for sure.

Unfortunately he just doesn’t have low gears in this. At one point I believe he actually hit the gas to try and correct his direction but didn’t work this time. Just happy he was not injured.
