Lots of Wheel Lifting Action from the Pajero and some great examples of the traction control in action. You could almost do without a locker when it works like this.
This video features Nathan driving my Pajero whilst on a 4WD Drive day with Mannell Motors. I was filming a series of stories for "4wdTV" and "Your 4x4" so I needed a driver for the day. Seems like he did a pretty good job too. Many thanks to Jimmy from Mannel Motors for a great day and to Nick Mannell for guiding Nathan through some quite difficult terrain.
The complete story for the day with all the participants in full HD can be viewed here:

Most underrated 4x4 👌🏻
Even without the lift kit, this car will go most places!
Mate, I am impressed! Good steady four wheel driving, good lines, good car and a cool head. Make the most of it, my friend. Oh, and good photography too.
P plater with that skills? Man you're a pro! Awesome driving.. I salute u!

This guy could drive a Camry through there...intelligent driving is worth more than all the gear in the world.

Camry doesn’t have enough clearance it would make it through but it wouldn’t look the same 😂
Love it! That thing is awesome. No lift, no crazy tires. Thanks for the video!
That is essentially what mine is. Handles fine. Better than standard, that's for sure. Highway travel is a dream and it tows so much better with the upgraded springs.
@OHM26 "As far as what Pajero means, apparently it means "The Puller". " - love it, from a fellow pajero owner
Wow, this makes me very happy indeed! We just bought a 03 NP exceed v6, looks excactly like yours. Hope it handles as good as that beast..
Impressive vehicle and driving!
That was great to see. As the owner of an NP 3.2 here in Victoria and a serious off roader I am so happy to see a good video showing off what one of these can really do. It's also great to see a P plater in an off road video with real driving skills and not just out there tearing up our tracks. That was excellent!
Thanks killpigeon! My son was driving and he did a great job. The rear bumper and depart angle is the worst feature of the car, the 50mm lift does help though. However, the only damage I have on the car is all on the rear bar. It is the only part that we keep hitting. Mine is a MY05.
Thank you, that was really interesting to watch. I now own a Pajero MY14 and would enjoy doing some of that with the family.
Geez that's impressive for a STOCK rig!
Very impressive driving. Well done mate!
awesome video mate. certainly some good drving there, and some really good wheel placement! definately can see the traction control working too.
Nice driving, I'm on my way to look at a 2004 GLS. Your video has given my confidence in this car. I wanted a Prado but these videos inspired me to look at other options, the Nissan is a no no for me.

I have a 2005 Mitsubishi Pajero GLS 3.0L Petrol. 👌🏿👌🏿Pajero I suspension is so brilliant, you'll enjoy it way more than any Prado.
@drewbaby1967... it does have a 50mm lift, but otherwise it's standard. Thanks for watching, it was a fun day.
@SmacSA Thanks for the comment... The traction control does do what it says.
Enjoy seeing those Toyota owners cursing the Pajero under their breath, secretly thinking how good the Pajero really is!

Agree...always been “ Toyota or nothing “, but I now plan on buying one of these in the very near future.(but I’ll keep my HJ60 as well 👍)
wow look at that articulat... oh wait, it doesn't matter. The Paj made it up the same place all of the other trucks with locked diffs and better articulation did. Technology versus articulation was one of the points of this video. Thanks for the comment though, and thanks for watching!

@@medveds1 crazy most drivers replace tyres straight away. I like good AT tyres but the stock ones only have issues in thick mud and side wall strength. I’ve run my stock wheels on a NX paj of road including desert crossings, beaches and tougher inland tracks 50kms on them, never a flat or needed to be recovered.
seriously skilled driver. plus; perfectly set tyre pressure.
Them driving skills though!
Ipad fell off from the glove box at 1:30 ;)
Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't gotten around to checking if we have a limited rear diff (and it's another mystery on how I'm going to do that) but it does seem that there's no traction control. It looks like it'll be a while before we get up to this sort of off-roading, but we might as well start easy.
@MickyMouseLimited - Whilst the traction control on these cars are fantastic, there have been a few places where a locker in the front would have worked better! And glad you liked the video... There are lots more on my channel.
Nice smooth driving mate, good to see the Paj out there mixing it up on some of the better tracks, truely underestimated vehicle. I've just done the 2" lift on mine from pedders with trak rider shocks and springs. Not been of road yet but i can say that the ride and handling have improved tremendously, i'll keep you posted on how they perform.

GOOD CAR WITH AN EXTRAORDINARY DRIVER.!!! GREETINGS FROM THE PURA VIDA COUNTRY ;-).
@PajRob Thanks for the comment. Get some video and upload it. I'll keep a lookout for it.
We are a bit busy filming 4WD comp events at the moment. But I'll have another one up soon I hope!
great video and driver, and shogun /. mine is 2003 with central rear -diff lock
Great work i love pajero
what tyres have ye on the pajero can i ask?
Excellent video!!, I have almost an identical car like yours, right down to the nudge bar, spotties, antenna and colour. Mine is the MY05 DiD Exceed, I guess yours probably be the MY05 or 06 Smooth nice driving mate, just watch the rear bumper (scooper), mine got ripped already doing that sort of track.
its a shame this model doesn't have the rear articulation like you can get out of the gen2 pajeros, ... but good job, done surprisingly well
Pajero, FTW! Can't beat them. I have a 03 3.8 Montero/Pajero Limited 5 dr
I love watching this clip, my 10yo son also loves it! We have the 03 exceed and they are really a great offroader! Just got a 2inch lift and mudders under her now. I'm getting up places in 2wd that cars in 4 struggle on. lol So when is the next vid??? :)
Awesome video, in all the six years we've had this Pajero and we've never taken if offroad before. Great to see what the car can actually do! I have a question though, does your Paj have rear locking differentials? Ours doesn't, we've made no modifications and it's just got a centre lock. But since it's 2002 I'm not sure if it has traction control, and I'm wondering if a centre diff lock alone would be able to take the car onto tracks like these.
This is some of the best traction control for offroad use I've ever seen. I wonder how it would do in the wet tho?
@TwoMagadan - Thanks for the comment. It was shot using a Sony HVR V1P. So yes, sort of a good camera, and I hope shot by a pro, me! The onboard camera is a RadCam HD, which is a great lipstick camera and makes shooting the onboard and outside shots a breeze. So based on your videos, did you buy the Troopy?
Pajero with independent suspension does Not articulate at all, but still a good offroader. I love it.
Great experience and great video too! i wanted to see if the Pajero LO49 made it up. i have Pajero LO47 turbo 2.4L
I just bought mine yesterday !! yay !!!!

Really nice driving I have the last version of the Gen 3 Dakar 3 door it was bought brand new 2007 . Well i was thinking that i need a locker but you prove me wrong . It is amassing driving . How is the tire wear now with the 50 mm lift ? Keep up the good driving and the nice videos. Thanks alot again for making this great show.
nice car awesome driver ,,,,I'm a pajero lover
... very impressive, patient skills. The vehicles looks quite standard - certainly not lifted and 'kitted out'. About to buy a 2014 model.
I want to hit up tracks in Victora, would need to go with people! I'd love to join you guys on a trip some day!
Pajero king of highway
These Handle pretty exceptionally on road too.
nice driving. im sure even an old susuki samurai can tackle this terrain with ease👍
Got a 2004 3.5 gdi swb warrior love it
good driver!....good car!
It totally does for sure! The iPad was fine... But we don't put it there anymore, we have a nice solid Ram Mount system for holding it now.
17 inch Cooper ATR's. It does have a 50mm lift too, but otherwise standard.
Traction control looks like it works well. ;-)
Is that a LSD on the rear end? Nice to see a skillful driver. Good lines and car control on the technical stuff. Props.
I'm planning to install Bilstein shocks + Lovell or King springs with a 30/40mm lift. But I'm scared to lift the centre of gravity, hence confused a bit. How did you find it on the highway and on the corners ? ie handling
@OHM26 good car and great off road
Very nice video On The Dirt! I just got my 05 montero and i love it! By the way im just curious what are the size of those cooper Tires were you running on this video? Im still using the stock wheels. Thanks in advance

G'day Reggie... We too run stock wheels! They are just 17" 265-70 series. We don't use Cooper's anymore, they're just too expensive and get very ordinary once they get to 50,000km. So we are now using Khumo tyres, which we think are much better and way more affordable.
@detektywMroton
3 жыл бұрын
Which type of Kuho do you use? Can you give me a name of a midel?
yeah, I knew you meant it lightly :-) And I would actually like a front diff lock. There are some tracks that my lack of articulation stop me from attempting. The side steps have taken a bit of a beating too.
FANTASTIC
👍😎 good job mate
Is this NP Pajero stock besides the lift and the tyres?
did you put any diff locker on? are those A/T tires ?
Your son did a good job there. Yeah I agree in regard to the rear bar, and being an Exceed, it's a bummer to get the steel version due to the A/C unit behind the off side rear wheel
This car is good, the traction control work superb and makes me think about when people talk about that independent suspension is not good for off road because wheel travel and the tires hanging on the air, well it doesn't matter with traction control because it will apply brake to that wheel to make the other wheel push the car out, but the thing is that you may use this car once in a while for off road because independent suspension has a lot of part that may break down.
Did you have to do any modifications to your pajero from being factory standard, ive the same shape 03 pajero exceed
Traction Control works really good!
amazingly beautifull
ماشاء الله تبارك الله 🖒👍
What shocks and springs did you use ? Did you use after market shocks and springs ? what brand are they ? I'm planning to replace stock shocks and springs from my brand new Pajero but I'm struggling to justify it....
Very very nice.
Достойный Автомобиль, очень интересно и понятно смотреть, спасибо большое за видео
Hi there mate, what 4wd club are you with ???... Cheers

For the U.S. version. Which year 4x4 drive should I get. I was looking Land Cruisers before I realize these dominate the Dakar Ralley
Do you have diff locks on your car? I have a stock standard NT RX, and am pretty sure that i wont be able to do this.
did you install an air locker to you pajero?
@HandGrip15kg Nope. Just standard traction control.
I used Lovell Springs and Gas Shocks which raise it 50mm. They were about $1200 for the set (4 x Springs and 4 x Shocks). I fitted them myself as it was another $800 to have them fitted. I think they are ok, but I think I would go with something different if I did it again. Maybe Old Man Emu...
I do not own a Paper ,.bt I like its exterior design...i keep looking at its fascinating design:-D
How stock is this? Lift, engine, suspension? I'm looking at a 2004 Pajero 6cyl. What should I be on the lookout for on the engine? Tks.

Hi, I was wondering what the name of the song in the background is called?
That totally has traction control. Did the iPad crack when it fell?
@77ol171 Needless to say, but I know have an iPad mount in the car!
Hey mate, do you have ESP on during the time?
It there any aftermarket for gen 3 Montero's?
Was this the petrol model or diesel, am thinking of getting the petrol 3.6 v6 model? Forgive me if im wrong, and if they are generally a reliable car

can you get more flex out of these or is this as far as they go? Can you remove the arbs on them?
@wopmf4345FxFDxdGaa20
9 жыл бұрын
You can get a little more than this has, but not huge amount more. Antirollbar can be removed yes. I doubt this vehicle has standard suspension either because that flex looks even less than standard but I might be wrong. Problem with independent suspension is that you loose drop wheel travel when the vehicle is lifted from the springs, by the same amount that the lift is unless the susp is modified otherwise.
What tyre pressures were you running here?
Here in UK it is Shogun, which is the name of a wind in Japan, or so I am told! lol
Ah, ok, understand now. You're probably right in theory. But in reality not many people go to the effort to take it out if they are towing all the time like we do. We do occassionaly scrape the towbar, but it would unlikely take the weight of the car to a point where it would damage it. The tongue has a bolt and lock bolt on it, so to get the tongue out is such a pain, we just leave it in. Thanks for watching, hope to see you in the bush one day.
you gave me allot of faith in my pajero only need to find a bit of time to get the damn lift kit on it as for most comments on articulation i really dont care as long as it can get me there i am happy and no i dont want to drive over ever rock and hole out there i can drive right next to them
