Great work sir. A lot went into this design. It more than doubles the size of your van. Fantastic! Here in the U.S., we have a company called Rhino Rack that makes and sells something very similar called the Batwing. Very expensive though. Check it out for your reference.

This is just awesome. I think even with a hightop van you could design a "drop-down/fold-down" mechanism so the awning could be lowered by anything up to 12 inches/30cm while still being attached to a higher roof rack....
