I know it’s the look of genuine surprise on his face that gets me every time I watch this scene, it’s like he can’t actually believe she is really truly in love with him. Before Elena I don’t think Damon really believed he deserved to be loved so completely and unconditionally by anyone, Elena changed that for him and she gave him a love that he had been looking for his entire life.

After so many years i get it. This is what my mom would say. There are two types of love from which you'll have to choose: the easy love without any problems or conflicts, which on the contrary has less passion and adventure. And then on the other side the real, true and passionate love that not many people have because they prefer the 'easier' way. This is in this case Stefan and Damon for Elena. Its not about being for the "toxic" relationship. Its about fighting for the love of your life,accepting their flaws and grow together to something better. In the past when I was 11 years old i stopped watching tvd because i was for Stelena. But now with 19 years i totally get Elena.

i'm totally agree but also is a supernatural show and like all relationship here are toxic, stelena wasn't health either I don't know how people can sit and judge a vampire show like that, nothing of Damon & Elena's problem were what a toxic relationship would have, it's all supernatural drama, and the won over everything

E R Because it is in the middle range of PG13, it is not something I would let someone under 13 or so watch. I think until they are around that age and begin to be able to make wise decisions their viewing of things like this that displays highly questionable decision making as ok should be censored. Please understand I am not condemning or judging parents who don’t, I am just surprised at how little parents today seem to censor what enters their children’s minds during those younger most impressionable years. Also I am 22 so this isn’t me saying “back in my day” or anything, just an opinion.

There's just so much more passion between Elena and Damon than there ever was between Elena and Stefan.

I hope you’ve watched it by now- but I feel the exact same. I actually watched an edit way before watching the show and remembered how good it was later on so decided to watch it. I really regret only starting it last year- I really missed out on so much time loving the characters *cough* Damon, Stefan, Klaus, Elijah, Kol, Enzo, Kai, Marcel, etc *cough*

I remember the very first time I watched Vampire Diaries, back when it aired on TV, I was in middle school or high school (can't remember when this aired) watching this episode with my best friend at the time. We were always cheering for Damon and we literally screamed when Elena finally said she loved him and they kissed. One of the best moments in this show

@@elleiahjx3718 how lol? bonnie always put everyone before her. she died/almost died like a million times trying to protect her family, friends, and random strangers. she let Damon escape that prison world without her and in the end, she risked her own life to protect all of Mystic Falls. On top of all that, she still lost Enzo. tbh bonnie deserved better than what she got in her storyline. Damon is also selfless because he let Elena and Stefan be together and tried to make her hate him (Damon) so that she wouldn't fall in love with him (Damon) and break Stefan's heart. remember that scene where Damon brings Elena back her necklace that Stefan gave her (the one that symbolized her love with Stefan) and told her he loved her but then compelled her to forget it because he didn't want her to have to choose between him and his brother. He didn't want to hurt Elena or Stefan. Elena and Damon only dated once Elena accepted her feelings for Damon, not to mention that Damon was willing to take the cure for Elena and live out his life as a human with Elena, not because he wanted to be human but because Elena wanted that. Yea Damon made some pretty bad choices that killed people but so did Stefan, Caroline, Elena (pretty much any vampire on the show). Overall, imo both Bonnie and Damon put others' needs above their own, which I think is the definition of selfless.

I ship Delena because he gave her passion, love, adventure and danger. Damon always protected her, it’s always been about her. You can see the chemistry between these two throughout the whole show which was so beautiful, I’ll always ship Delena 😭❤️

This scene is so gorgeously made, so full of passion and fire. I’m a Stefan’s girl but I have to admit there’s no love more exciting than the one that Elena and Damon have.

@@aditibisht22 when stefan fought compulsion for her it was like 8 seconds and then Klaus came back and made him turn it off and so Stefan attacked Elena instantly, I don't know why y'all talk about that scene as if it was the biggest act of love, with humanity off stefan can't fight for her. Damon fought a whole mind control by a siren with humanity OFF and WITH NO MEMORIES of her, FOR her because she is Damon's humanity.

I’m not going to lie I use to be a Stelena shipper! But I’ve come around from watching the reruns and Delena are how a true couple should be. The passion is undeniable. I prefer Delena now and it’s like a true love story. The bad boy and innocent girl. They balanced each other

FINALLY!!!:) This episode was on my b-day and When this scene came on my Step dad walked into my room and told me I had to go upstairs to blow out my candles and eat my cake. AHH I WAS SO MAD because I couldn't focus because he was talking to me :p then I came upstairs and he had the t-v set on the cw channel so I was watching it with my family, crying my eyes out in front of everyone, eating birthday cake, lol IT WAS SO AWKWARD!

These scene actually makes me bawl. 😭

Things was more passionate with them because Damon excepted who he was and who Elena was as a human and Vampire. Where Stefan didn't even except himself and definitely wanted to fix Elena when she became a vampire. It's not about the relationship being toxic it's about they loved each other when other people seen them as something else. They had real love. What Stefan wanted with Elena was a fantasy. They loved each other too but Elena was never truly in love with him the way she was with Damon

Choosing Damon was the best and worst decision Elena ever made. He made her feel more than Stefan did: passion, danger, adventure, etc. he’s not a good person and she knows that. She could have chosen Stefan and been happy easy, but she chose Damon because he challenges her and makes her question everything about her, which can be hard and frustrating, but it’s also beautiful and amazing, and that’s what Elena wanted: passion and adventure. He changed her and she changed him, by making him want to be a better person for her, and when he chose to be human later, it showed how much he loved her, more than being a vampire because he was open to the chance of it not working out and being miserable, which is a choice he isn’t willing to make here, because he hasn’t experienced enough to feel that

I just come here to watch this scene on repeat. Because this scene is something so beautiful with beautiful dialogues❤
