"Klim is doing a nice job moving up on Lochte." Man have things changed!
Thorpe the best !
i agree, both times he did that (sydney 2000) he ended up- loising as he cant hold on to the pace
wow
I would be scared sh*tless seeing Thorpe catch up in the first 100 like that on the American team
Primera y única vez que veo a Lochte y Thorpe en una misma alberca, ojalá se hubieran enfrentado en igualdad de circunstancias. HUBIESE SIDO UNA BATALLA DE COLOSOS.
Love.Keller.Sincere..CONNIE.👄👄👄👄❤️❤️❤️👁️👁️
BRUTTTTALLLL!!!!!!
Klim should never had swum in this relay. Came into the Olympics underdone
Kinda reminds me of the 1980 Olympic hockey, the Russian professional team, against the USA "kids" . Great up-set. I do have all the admiration for Ian Thorpe tho, but he just couldn't pull this one off. Fantastic swimming by all.
Look at michael at the end of the race!
Se todos os australianos fossem o Thorpe em estilos de nados
ohh yeah , on vimeo , u can find the 8 min full coverage of that owesome relay . the image is so clear and the french did not smash the Us guitars lol
Too bad this isn't CBC's broadcast. You would have heard Canada's anchor leg Rick Say say that he was "pissed off" at Canada's performance.
1984 Bruce Hayes 2004 Klete Keller
Thorpe was 2 body lengths behind when he jumped into the water..another 2 meters and Keller would have been 2nd

Thorpe looks like he went out too fast in the first 50, that's probably why Klete Keller was able to hold him off.

Hoang Le Keller knew he was far enough ahead and backed off. Nothing taken from Thorpe. He was world class and a champion. This day Keller was better.
ohh yeah , now it's Lochte having monster underwater dolphin kicks and kicking french butts .
1.45.5 keller, and win by 0.13 and Thorpe start more than 2 seconds later. All is said.

But in the end, the only thing that matters is the win.
@edhofmann Beautiful Video
Is that Dara Torres commentating? This was race of the meet in Athens.
Nice swimming 🏊♂️ 👌 👍 🙂 ☺ 😀 🏊♀️ of 2004 Summer Olympics.
I'm guessing the first is the 4x100 in Beijing?
good on ya boys next time, OZZIE
2nd best u.s. relay ever : )
Why not ??
watch for the last great 800 free relay of M Phelps in London !!!! the race will be owesome
LOL you make it sound as if Thorpe had this amazing swim to nearly catch someone who is his equal or another great. Based on their times in the individual 200 free Thorpe was supposed to catch Keller, if not pass him. It basically was the same time difference between them here as the individual race. Keller has never placed top 2 in an individual race at the worlds or Olympics ever, so it was not like it was some stunning performance by Thorpe to catch up with him.

@@basilbrush8620 What would have made Thorpe the " better swimmer", quite frankly, is if he would have WON the race.
what was the margin??? point ONE three of ONE second?
great race. i wanted phorpe to take him...
Lochte took two dolphins kicks off the last wall in this race... anyone who follows swimming would find this hilarious now
The look of utter ecstasy? Is that what the commentator really said?
why was michael klim playing basketball?
@kb24forlife1 cuz he had a nearly two second lead :D
This final has basically been removed from KZread in good quality video. Most likely because this race had been won by Klete Keller for the US, and he found to be guilty in the Capitol riots. Typical American approach. US won BECAUSE OF Klete Keller here. We want the video back.
Why was this filmed on a potato? Wasn’t it 2004? Not 1904
Keller might be enjoying a stay in a federal prison!

Thorpe started 2 secongs later than keller that swims in 1.45.5 and wins by 0.13 seconds. All is said
2:25 Dafuq you talking about Dara? He was the Australian leadoff in the 4x100. He split a 49.37.
he was putting lochte in his water drag
Ecstasy may be a drug, but its also an emotional state, which is what they ment.
He's making it easier for himself because he can surf off Lochte a bit.
3:59 did anyone else see the legs when he dived??
Thorpe is the best he swim after Keller 2 second but he nearly got the him
Yeah, but with no eye contact. No love lost, I guess.
Technically the US were better. Going into the 4 leg you put your life on Thorpe getting over Keller. But a couple of brilliant turns by Keller allowed him to hold on.
Yep
thrope should have used his legs more the 3rd 50m
are the aussies somewhere in that same relay in 2012 ? the fucking Us gonna show u who are the masters of the 800 free relay ; i bet even the 400 relay will be tight .
I have one question: why are there so many people critical at Paul Biedermann, because of the swimming Suite he wore, but allmost noone says something 'bout I. Thorpe, even though He was Always wearing a swimsuit. That's Kind of unfair...(sorry Bout my English,i am german). Anyway, i was swimming when i was Young, And i think, that every one, who makes it to the olympic Games, deserves respect( whitout dopers). Gruß,O
8:22 American team celebrates, Thorpe"s back on the left side. Thorpe isn"t interested in silver. The winners take it all.
Medal of Dishonor who has storm us capitol
its not that bad being the anchor leg. the worst leg is the 3rd
lol!!!!5:41
He is W champ, but holds no record.
.13 is still quite alot not ALOT ALOT but enough that its not like very very close
fk me i thought australia were gonna win
What an weird comment by the female announcer at 6:32, Keller has trained his whole life to breathe to the left. It would throw him off even more, if he suddenly switched his breathing side.
The US relay team watched Miracle the night before to give them to motivation needed to defeat the Aussies.
Klete keller aguerrido asta la mother
US = 3000 million people Australia = 22 million

6 years ago when this comment was posted the USA had 320 million and Australia had 18.5 million, the Americans swam in sync with the rest of the world, The Australinas had to travel from the ends of th earth to compete.
