@@bendover-bz4bc I have no idea what it would have cost him, but he did it all himself and has done a great job! We keep in touch with Simon regularly, so happy to relay any questions and answers by him if you like.

Many things to add about your snatch strap recovery. 1. Distance and safety. Keep all others away from live loads at all times. 2. Don't take the weight then go. A snatch strap is designed to conectically load and recover. In other words. Use your radio to establish contact .have a plan in place then Drive like ya stole it. The snatch strap will work in your favour. Thus eliminating 17 worn tracks from failure. It's at that point the recovery veichle would not of been stuck. Because the worn tracks would not of been there. 😎😉

Funnily enough, we did have the radios on and as the way of the drivers communicating, plus everyone was at a safe distance monitoring and ready to step in with shovels (it always looks different on camera). Also, the Iveco did do a full tug as you suggested, but snatching 12t in the sand, made a large metal clack noise which we didn't know what it was nor want to cause damage so we decided the slowly, slowly, bit by bit approach instead, and well considering how little the Iveco is compared to the Merc, it did a great job and everyone got off the sand unhurt and undamaged. All this applies to the other recovery shown in the vid too, just a little different as the motor home truck was on the side of a dune, and had risk of rolling. Sometimes all of this is hard to convey in the videos and some are such minor details people don't want to sit through the small stuff. Again thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 😁

Looks like lots of fun...But, I must draw attention to some extremely unsafe practices when using snatch straps. Please, keep everyone, and that includes pets, well away, at least 1.5 times away as the strap length. Always use dampeners on straps and finally, the most dangerous practice of all that happens on this video is people, many times, stepping over a live strap. A live strap is one that is connected to both vehicles, no matter whether they are moving or not. Walk around the vehicle, never cross a live strap. People get killed using these tools, so please attend training from accredited trainers so we avoid any terrible incidents that are preventable. It's all fun until someone gets seriously injured or killed. Not trying to be a smart arse, but having been through professional training, and witnessed many a recovery, all I want is for people to enjoy these vehicles and go home safe and happy.

In short yes, it was very windy it would have been horrible to listen too. 😁

thanks for the video it just reminded me on how gutless all the trucks are. Why there are no large engine options? Even the OKA is slow!

Thanks for watching! What makes you say they are gutless? Also, have you watched our vid from a couple of years ago with trucks on Stockton Sand dunes? You may be interested in that one too 😁

I saw after the maxtrac demonstration you went inside slop. I have an Iveco daily 4x4 as well but going on Perth beaches with there steep side angles really scares me cause we are so high up. Is it your experience that it would be fine going on those angles and it's safe and It's all in my head

Hi mate, yep. Daily 4x4 can do almost 45 degrees, and it feels like 20 degrees is about 90 degrees :)

the Iveco what gears diff locks etc were you in going up the steep hill - what was successful?

As “overlanders” people should have spent a lot more time doing self recovery procedures… just my 2 cents
