This will defiantly help with popping out 4LO after you adjust it. Your old bracket wasn't pushing it all the way in. Any question let me know if i can help, I check comments 1 or 2 times a week .......

Thanks man for the video, I installed mine the other day and kept my skid plate on because the threads are seized and don't wanna deal with that bullshit. Thanks for the idea to get the bolt for the shifter from the top, saved me time and the frustration of reaching.

I installed the same cable setup on my 1999 TJ. No matter how I adjusted it, it would not go into 4 low and stay. It was almost there, but the spring tension on the Y lever inside the transfer case would kick it out of gear. I was tired of messing with it. Then I got an idea, if the shift lever could go back only an 1/8th inch farther it would pivot the shift lever below back probably 1/2 inch or more. So out came the square file, and it happened to be just a little wider than the shift lever. I went back 1/8th inch amd it made all the difference in the world. Wish I could send you a pic, it is a very simple fix that made a world of difference.

I agree on your last comment about their video. Thats a smart idea on how you solved your problem. Im curious because I sanded my hole assembly aggressively I did the same thing you did without knowing it .......

The lengthening of the shifter lever slot made since, because if they didn't get the OEM linkage right, I had no reason to credit them with getting the travel allowed by the slot right either.

Thanks for this video. It will no doubt save me some time. My issue with the factory set up is that I can't get mine into 4w Low and the bolt that pinches the slider is tighter than a (expletive deleted) you get the idea. Anyway when I tried to loosen it, you guessed it, it snapped off. (more expletives). So, I just ordered my shift linkage (same brand) so I expect the same issues you mentioned. Others have mentioned issues with the washer size as well. You'd think that after many of the same complaints the company would just put in the right washers and include a few rubber washers. Even if it cost a dollar or two more, it would be worth it. Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time to let me know what I'm up against. Cheers Dave

Thank you for taking the time to make a comment. Also remember the cable is a bear to bend . A add benefit to cable is if you need to lift body to work on something no more issues with linkage .

would it maybe be better to install cable into the funky angled section of the bracket first then the other end second... or is the other end harder to reach and end up more difficult to fudddle with it to install?

I think you should put the top cable first because you need to connect/ adjust it and the shifter must be in 4 low. I also agree with you that you could probably do it the other way but in that it would be more difficult and defiantly you'd fuddle with it a lot longer..

Can you feel it shift gears when you shift from the handle? I just installed this and it's hard to feel it clunk into gear besides just by where it's positioned at the handle. I haven't put it back together and drove it yet so I suppose if it goes into the gears good then it's good.

Yes I defiantly feel it shift but its MUCH easier.. Go under the jeep and have some shift for you and make sure..

hahahahaha lets put this fucker in! damn that looks like it was a bitch! very tight space to work in especially with that thick ass cable. nice job explaining everything, very thorough.

I hated their video. Everything you complained about and more I experienced. Their video was especially galling having some chick reading how it's done as though it was making a sandwich, with NO adjusting guidelines. And the cable is exactly what you described. Mine is installed, won't go into low, pops out of 4H, so I have some adjusting to do.

I bought this kit your spot on about pushing it up hard to get the angle right that part was sketchy I was able to move those 11/16 nuts over the rubber dust covers just by pulling them forward and squishing them there. But my problem is that I got four low can't tell if I'm in four high cuz it Doesn't line up with the stock position and I had trouble getting the two wheel drive it's a bitch to adjust all that

It took a little adjusting for me to. I started from 4 low and worked forward and everything works great now...
