Some of the bearskins have cowlicks at the top..😅 even bearskins have bad hair days in windy weather. They are being uniform inspected today like a fine tooth comb.. even more rigid.

That looked very intense 😬 they all looked fabulous 😊

These traditions go back centuries. Refined over the years due to different types of weapons and uniforms . The flags have all the Battle Honours the Unit/Battalion have earned during all the wars that they fought in.

Yes! Drum Major Fitzgerald is amazing.

It looks like the annual tunic inspection of Number 7 Company Coldstream Guards, by one of their senior officers. The Irish Guards Sergeant with the sword is likely to be the London District Master Tailor. Tunics are back in shortly, replacing the winter greatcoats.

Winter is over, back in red Tunics. The Woman I'm guessing was a seamstress, checking out the fit of the Tunics.

Stillon greatcoats..red tunics for this inspection because in June the greatcoats will be off. Nice to see band in their 'blues'....

Greatcoats finish end of march when clocks change

The (Band) is an Element of all the British Services and they have All had extensive training. They just know how to play an instrument of not (WAR).

Not true, the bands are training as clean up sqauds for possible chemical warfare.

They also do tours of duty as drivers in war zones such as Afganistan, and were employed as stretcher bearers/medics during the Gulf Wars.

I never seem the standards bearers being messed with inspector, the Kings Colors and the Regiments. Those two officer most likely spect a lot of time getting ready for this inspection.

8.01 The corporal on the right hand side. They've obviously done away with height requirements for the guards but looking his medals there's no other reason why he shouldn't be there.

Height requirements were done away with over 30 years ago with the equal opportunities act as were the separate women's forces, WRAC WREN and WRAF

Staff aide. What you're going to notice is that the class distinction between commissioned, and warrant/non-conditioned officers is easing, because the ideas of leadership are permeating all levels. The idea of command skills vs craft skills is perhaps more relevant.

The precedent in the Trooping the Colour, where the RSM transfers it from "Storage" to "Display" in the hands of the Ensign, used to be seen as unusual, but in this case, with the Regimental command staff involved in resetting the foundation all the rest of the pomp and circumstance builds off, making certain that the admin side is squared away, I think they're using it to make sure there's no confusion in roles.

@@joannehawksworth4440 I've been in a military HQ for a decade and never saw one. It used to be all officers did, but now it's only parade kit. But, as I say, the boundaries between class have blurred, now we recruit and promote on worth.

No, only at what is called the silly season, that is when they go from greatcoat to tunic order. They have spring drills for three weeks and then beating retreat, trooping the colour etc.

@dewdropn5619 I would imagine a lot of us British know some of it,i don't know what all the regiments are, but i did know from watching these videos that they change uniforms in the warmer weather ,and i've watched Trooping the colour on TV, that's really magnificent to watch with all the regiments and Horse's plus the marching bands.

Yes, a Master Tailor wears a sword as he is a part of Battalion Staff filling what is called a rank ranged post, filled by a Lance Sergeant to a Warrant Officer Class ll. He is also called Sir because of this appointment. A note I say "HE" as so far there has not been a female doing this job.

Quite an unusual inspection. I’ve never seem an inspecting officer going into such overwhelming detail. He behaved like a sergeant! Is this is what was meant by "absolutely amazing"? In the absence of explanation, perhaps "bizarre" would be a more apt description.

Nothing to do with PC & Diversity....Guards have always had problem with recruitment & retainment because of the nature of the duties....PC & Diversity must have come as a relief to senior officers....bigger pool to draw from. Its the same with allowing beards which I am not a fan of...it looks scruffy, dirty & smacks of a man that can't be bothered.... hey anything to encourage recruitment.
