    Thanks for the cool video. I am doing the Transgo HD2 kit cuz I didn't know better. I just ordered that accumulator block off and that harness. Does drilling these holes conflict with the Hd2 kit? I do have a new sonnex line to lube valve so maybe I should just do the other 2? Thx J.R. I did your rollerizing set up as well.

    Hi, do you still use a HD2 shift kit to make your shifts snappier? Matt Happel ran a 4L80E with just the HD2 shift kit and that trans held the power in his 1000 whp turbo Colorado. So your mod makes the 2nd to 3rd shift a lot better quicker. Its amazing how much turbo power stock otherwise 4L80E can hold! Would love to see a price and sources breakdown of costs to add a junk yard 4L80E to a LS turbo build. Including trans, shifter, drive shaft and u joint mods etc to arrive at true cost. Thanks for all your great videos!

    No sir, what I've done in these three videos replaces what an HD2 kit does. If you have a transmission in a vehicle, the Transgo is a good way to go. If it's out, internally dual feeding, deleting the accumulators, rollerizing the output is far superior. After around 750 ft/lbs on the input, the mechanical parts inside become a weak link. Matt did make 1000hp, but it was for a single dyno pull. Idk how many more times he ran at that power level, but it wasn't a daily deal to shovel that through it.

    Thank you so much. I do have a 72 nova roller I bought, has a built 350 chevy, had nitrous, turbo 400 of unknown strength. Was a track only drag car ran 7.1 in eighth or maybe low 11s quarter. In your opinion is that turbo 400 internally as strong as a 4L80E? ( assuming 400 is in normal shape, feels good driving it now). Im going to sloppy build your stage 3 with a 5.3, VS racing china twin turbos so 800 to 1000 hp. My concern is if my turbo 400 can stand up to it, or would a junk yard 4L80E with your mods be stronger? Occaisional drag strips runs and a lot of street use. Thanks! @@TheDrivewayEngineer

    At 9:07 you show where to put the check balls. The #2 in the manual doesn't show a ball, yet you put one there. I read the comments and didn't see anyone bring it up. I know this was years ago. I wonder how it worked out. I'm learning all I can because I'm going to have to do something like this. Other videos mention to not put the check ball in #2. I don't understand. Good job making this video BTW.

    No such thing if you're buying new for 4l80 unfortunately. CircleDSpecialties is a pretty good somewhat inexpensive option but its still $700, as you probably know its easy to spend 2K on a converter. You could always take a stock converter to a GOOD transmission rebuilder and have em re-stall it. I had my CircleD 278 restalled and my 500hp 3000 stall chevelle feels almost no different from a 200hp 1800 stall car when i don't floor it.

    This was anything but "a long boring video". But I'm confused what does an accumulator delete plate do exactly?

  • @TheDrivewayEngineer

    @TheDrivewayEngineer

    5 жыл бұрын

    Well it deletes the accumulators lol. The way a stock transmission shifts, some stuff moves around, and fluid is allowed to pass to the next gears accumulator. So if you're in 2, fluid starts building up in the 3 accumulator before the actual shift. There's a spring, that I show briefly, whose pressure needs to be overcome before the shift from 2-3 can take place and finish. If you delete the accumulator, when the checkball moves for a 2-3 shift, it happens. Right now. Done. No slip. No lag. People try to mess with this in tuning by zeroing out shift times. Transgo messes with the spring pressures. J.R. just likes to throw them in the trash. Now, I have a 3400 rpm converter, so my shifts with the shown hole sizes and no accumulators, will shift softer than the same set up on a stock converter.
