The Driveway Engineer

The Driveway Engineer

I like to make things, and fix thing's. You probably won't see my unboxing anything here, unless it's the pieces I need to make something lol.

Anyone can call up the store and just order something, I enjoy a challenge though. That doesn't mean you're going to see me make my own engine out of old Faygo cans, but you will see me snatch one fromt he junkyard and go through it in the driveway.

    I’ve got a 05 with returnless set up that needs hoses changed due to v8 swap; hose feed is kinked. Do you recommend the return style better. Specially when going cam and turbo in near future?

    I’ve been using Penetrol for a few years now. I remember Primered is best showed it years ago. Definitely worth using. I’m definitely interested in seeing more videos on it.

    I acquired a 99’ S10 for a dollar. Body and interior nearly perfect. The 4 banger didn’t run but only had 88k on it so I delved into the 2.2 and got it running pretty good. Maybe $500 in parts for essentially replacing the entire fuel system. I swore if I had to do one more thing I’d throw a 350 in it, but as I watch more of these vids like yours I realize the LS route can actually be simpler and less expensive than going with a carbed 350! So, when/ if I ever go horsepower greedy, which I probably will I absolutely certain I’ll go LS style and now that I have screwed with fuel injectors and the harness a little bit I really think it is doable. Good vid Man, thanks

    This is one situation where time is on our side. If it is fake patina it is not patina... leave it outside. fake is fake, real is real. thats all their is to it. fake is lame.

    You say you use it on your metal signs, does it keep them from rusting when you touch them with bare hands, and what does the customer do to them if they want to paint them later?

    I respect the notion that people like different things, and we should all be receptive and accepting of the preferences of others (barring obvious safety concerns), but I haven't been able to wrap my head around rust being "cool" anywhere...

    I used boiled linseed oil, but you need to keep touching it up and it adds a strang yellowish/greenish film. Never seen penetrol but have use clear coat gloss and it looks good. I'll pick up some penetrol never heard of it.

    “Patina” aka needs a paint job😂 Can’t believe it’s trendy to have faded, cracked, peeling paint and rusted metal. Years ago it was called “shit box”and not in the also new trendy way.😂

    I decided to take a different way to make my car look real ugly so nobody will steal it . I really like the hail storm look so i take my ball pein hammer to make the hail stone marks ! I then get the roller out and some house paint to really pretty her up ! The best way to get quick patina is to get an electric sander out and remove all the paint to bare metal on the spots that are on top and exposed to the sun ! Cheap too !

    Thanks for the video, it gave me at least some clarity. The question(s) I have.. my PCM is a p59 which has DBW&DBC capabilities. I'd like to use DBC for my swap. Also, the tune that's on the pcm is for a manual transmission, I think it's for an 04 manual, silverado. I plan to use a T56 transmission for my swap. 1) Should I bother messing with the transmission section at all? (ie. segment swap a 2004 GTO manual trans to my tune file? not sure if torque management etc. might be different) 2) Since I want to run DBC and I think the tune is DBW... do I just have to disable DTC's related to DBW sensors?

    Are the 3800 36lb injectors a direct fit for the 6.0 without modify? And if not, what do I need to do? I’ve searched but I can’t find anything on the subject

    Highly unlikely you even need them. No need to go screwing with stuff just because it's "better" when what you have works

    With a big block anything, a 4L60E won't hold up. A 4L80E is made for more power. The bigger transmission has a little more drag and uses a little more power, but it can handle much more power without failing.

  • @TheDrivewayEngineer
    @TheDrivewayEngineer7 күн бұрын

    Not one person has ever shown anywhere in any empirical test that a 4L80 takes 1hp more to turn.
