4L60 shelf build valve body, built and installed!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Finally down to the end of this 4l60. In this video were going to cover the final assembly of the transmission and installing the valvebody on the transmission. To make the transmission work the way we wanted it to we installed a transgo shift kit as well as some sonnax parts. The solenoids we used we're from ac Delco and transtar industries. For any questions feel free to reach us in the comments. There is also a link to our Facebook page if anyone wants to check it out as well. For shorter clips check out our TikTok.

David - sweet video. I’ve watched all your videos and appreciate your contributions for the rest of us out here in the trenches building at home. I’m doing nearly an identical valve body build right now that you could consider a mix match of parts. 4L60E - TransGo SK Kit + Sonnax Pinless Accumulators (FWD, 1-2, 3-4). So many mixed opinions out here and tough to get a straight answer. I am well aware that the Sonnax Pinless 1-2 Accumulator Piston does not play well with the TransGo HD2 spring arrangements (nor the SK Junior if I remember correctly) and I think many people generalize this as an answer of “Do Not Use TransGo springs with Sonnax Pinless Accumulators”. I noticed you’re one of only 2-3 people I’ve seen use the 1-2 Pinless Accumulator with what looks to be an SK kit shown in your video. Any issues with this as I’m looking to do the same thing but can’t get a straight answer from a reputable builder such as yourself?? In my opinion I’d like to say the SK kit is the only spring arrangement for the 1-2 you can get away with this without any modifications or worries - I’d love to hear your feedback? Thanks and keep up the vids!! 9:23

Thanks for the video, in the process of rebuilding my transmission and seen this was very useful, i have a couple of questions, if ur able to awnser and give me some input, 1st, check balls and locations. I seem to have 8, but u mentioned 1 for the case, 2nd how can i i tell exactly what trans I have, im going of ur comments external and internal gear switch.. its supposed to be a 4l70 but I'm thinking it's been replaced with something diffrent.

I rebuilt my first 4l60e recently. When i bought the 98 chevy blazer 4x4 the third and 4th were already shot. I got it together with new torque converter. Seems ok but when im just cruising in 3rd, the rpms will fluctuate about 1000rpm back and forth like the converter is going in and out of lockup. Where should my attention be to fix it. I know the guy at brooksville transmission and have an appointment for them to look at it but would like to be able to solve it myself. The kit i bought came with a different spring that i used that was supposed to eliminate pwm problems versus reaming it.

Thanks David for your videos I have a question I know from your videos that you like to install pinless sonnax accumulator pistons but in other 4l60e videos that you have you installed the pin accumulator pistons Any reason why don’t you go with the pinless accumulator pistons? Great videos! I've been researching on how to rebuild the 4L60E for a few months. I've only done manuals in the past T5s, Getrags, and New Ventures. I know you've said to ask questions in the past and if it still applies, I have one. Input drum reinforcement can be accomplished with Sonnax 77733-51KA and 77733-52K(if can find), I know I know call Alan, LOL; can I still use the Transgo 7-CS kit? And yes it has steel pistons.

great video: thanks for that. I have a 96 Fleetwood. Had the transmission replaced at 72K miles, now at 111K miles I lost 2nd gear. Removed the valve body and found the 1-2 valve stuck not moving. Removed the valve and found nothing wrong. Placed it back in and still would not move so decided to purchase a rebuild unit from Amazon. Got the new unit in and checked it out and found that the first 2 valves moves freely. I can push them in and they return no problem, The other two do not move at all. Is this normal or is this unit defective as well? thank you in advanced for your help.

I am rebuilding my own 4L60E (after a notorious vendor from FL really botched my "Stage II build".) Between yours and so many other helpful sellers I dug deeper into the valvebody than anything else. What are your thoughts on plugging the PWM circuit (blocking the valve/motion) operation wise? Also, looking into the tools for something like the AFL valve kit in this video, I am finding it hard to justify the cost of $300-500 for the reamer kit (many options) for the average DIY guy... would you be opposed to sprucing up a Valve Body sent to you?

Got an issue where getting to highway speeds and at 55 mph when tcc is commanded, instead of rpm's dropping.. it jumps back up a couple hundred rpm's like it drops to third or something. Currently I have it turned off so the trans has all forward and reverse gears, just no OD. Someone mentioned a fluid cross flow/leak preventing OD.. other than corvette servo and sonnax 77998-03K kit, it's a stock 4l60e. Drives fine, just no OD. 2004 LM7 with the 4l60e that came with the motor running Holley Terminator Xmax swapped into a 80 series land cruiser. Thanks.

@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 So yes, it's been an issue with the build since install as far as I can tell because I installed those parts when I got the motor and trans before installing it in the vehicle where I should've ran it stock then swap the parts in.. it was just easier outside of the vehicle. Not sure what you mean in watching the solenoid firing... On the Holley handheld I can see when it's commanded and as soon as that happens the rpms jump.

My original valve checked at 21”, the new valve checked at 22”. I have to team my 4-3 sequence valve bore, only getting 14” on my outer lands. Not happy about buying these reamers or the fixture.
