By friction, the train just kinda slides (aka skids) and the friction from the skid brakes stop the train. Unfortunately, they are not always effective, if it rains the train slides more.

This was back when the beast was The Beast! The second hill out of the first tunnel & turn was an air time hill! The good ol days. Sigh....

They really neutered it by replacing the skid brakes with magnetic ones.

@@TheLewistownTrainspotter8102 Couldn't have said it any better than that! I wish they would redo it. Replace all the top track or whatever is needed to eliminate the need for it to be so freakin slow. Even if it took a year or two closed down to make it right again.

I go there nearly every year even in 2020 it still ran great, doesn’t even hurt like most coaster! Fun fact king island made it their self! No coaster company came and made it. All done by kings island maintenance and engineers

I rode this coaster for the first time in 1987. And I ended up working at Kings Island a few summers later, and did that throughout high school. Unfortunately, not on this ride, though!

Riding it today is like a Californian Earthquake on the move!

For 2002 this is great quality. If you have any other footage of kings island I would love to see it

@@fifa22isshite90 HD video has been around in Japan since the early 90s. The first widescreen TVs came out in the early 90s. If anything it's 2000 or 2001, since the Son of Beast footage still has King Cobra.

@@fifa22isshite90 Actually one, it says on the title that this footage is from 2002, two, the coaster is still using skid brakes and not trim brakes, and lastly, at the top of the 2nd lift hill, you can see Son Of Beast WAYYYY in the back, and that was a coaster which would close in 2009 and be demolished in 2012. That’s all the proof you need

The beast flew threw the layout!

My first coaster. I am afraid of heights and my dad talked me into riding it with my aunts boyfriend. I remember the lift hill at 3:15 and thought the ride was over. He just started laughing. It wasn’t over to my surprise.

日本で言ったら木製コースターと林間ジェットコースターとビックサンダーマウンテンを合わせた感じ

At the start, you can see the vortex coaster, one that was torn down a few years back.

日本には姫路セントラルパークとかあります。そこは不便で姫路駅からバスに乗らないといけないそう。しかもバスは1時間に1本かそれ以下。

All wooden coasters are usually very “shaky” because of the material used, this doesn’t always necessarily mean they’re ALL rough, it’s just the way the trains shake through the layout.
