Thank you for taking the time to do these videos, I know it takes a lot of hard work and we greatly appreciate it. Great job
Great review! Realy liked the side by side picture composion. One wish, print specs (like contrast/price ect.) in each collum on the picture while you present them for easy match to witch projector you talk about. Thanks for nice video!
Wow! Excellent video editing and great review overall. I love how you divide the 4 streams and combine into one. Absolutely great job.
I've been looking to upgrade to a 4K projector and have been trying to wade through all the reviews of different projectors. This was very helpful, especially the side by side comparisons. Thanks much!!
Wow! Finally a useful review of projectors. I applaud your efforts! This is the only useful video I have seen thus far that actually shows the samples side by side for a real comparison. Totally awesome! I agree the 4010 has the most true to life image. I wish you could do some more for us.
Nice job! I own the PX747 and also noticed the colors looking a bit washed out. Then I realized it was ECO mode. When I turned ECO off it was a night and day difference.
Your 4 projector side-by-side is AMAZING! Well done, I'm sure that was not easy!
Really well done. I was struggling may way through conflicting reviews. This was a demonstration that helped me to actually see the difference. Epson it is for me. Thanks!
Best review of projectors on youtube. Fantastic job man. Thanks!
exactly the type of questions I would have when comparing different modes. nicely done good sir. thoughtful review and very informative - thank you for the maximum effort
Found your review by accident. The side-by-side comparison was a really nice touch. Keep doing the good work man. Subbed.
probably one of the best reviews i've ever watched! keep up with the good work! :)
Fantastic review! This is what i was looking for! The side by side comparison really helped!
5 seconds in and i can already tell this guy is the real deal. So many top 10s that made no sense. thanks for being super thorough

I liked the review, but if he thinks a .47” DLP is giving a million to 1 contrast he doesn’t know much. That optima is 1000:1 at best and the 5040 is 5000:1 at best, with the 4010 somewhere in the middle. It’s just the technology and what it’s capable of, and the reason he had no clue why the Epsons were larger and heavier.

I avoid those random Top X videos now. Useless rubbish
I love how you split the screens! Good job. Thanks.
I love the detail you go into, great content. Thanks for saving me the time!
Watched a lot of projector vids, this is the best one. Lots of good info and I really liked the side by side.
The thing I like best about electronics and testing them for yourself in your own setups. Buy at store, test and review, return or exchange... repeat. Projectors can easily get difficult to compare since some are drastically different technology's used and picture quality can be based on screen type, size, light, sunlight, throw, and distances all differentiate with the models I have used. Hands down, the Epson 5040, 5050ub or 3020 and 4010 models are my favorite over all other models i have experienced. Not the easiest product to just try out and return if your not satisfied. Great video!!
finaly someone who compensate the brightness in post, that is often totaly overblown or underlighted through camera recording! Perfect!
Super review, many thanks. Honest, understandable and fair. And above all, you chose your favourite with sound reasoning, even though it was a different manufacturer to your existing projector. Good job. 👌
What a great video. Thank you. No one else has done such an informative vid
great review as I was debating whether I go for Optoma or Epson, now I got the choice clear, thank you so much! I will stand on your final decision which make sense!!!
I wish all projector reviews would compare side by side like yours! Thanks for your review!
Nice job!! Thank you very much for your time in putting this video together. I find it was well thought out. Good information!
I wanted to thank you for this video. It helped me decide on a projector. I know how much time goes into videos of this quality and its appreciated. Thanks
Thanks for this. This is exactly everything I’ve been wanting to know while shopping for a projector
truly amazing video thank you so much, not to many vids straight to the point as well as multiple competitors in one! keep it up!
Great review my man!! Been researching projectors for months and have tried a couple...returned them all.
This was a great video. I agree. Epsons are great projectors. They are just very big. I wonder if that is too shield the fan noise, because they tend to be quieter than most projectors.
went out and got the epson 4010 because this video. thank you! super happy with it coming from the epson 2030. i wasn't prepared for how big it was in person haha, but i made it work. thanks again!

How do you like the Epson 4010 so far, and is it very crisp and detailed when playing movies?
Mate, your review is awesome. Everything put together well and I appreciate the background work that went into it. Thank you.

Fab roundup! Did you notice rainbowy red/green/blue streaking with any of them? Watching the flamingo coming in to land at 10:02 on the optoma for instance that would drive me MAD

That's just the camera shutter matching the colour wheel...calm the farm will you, you'll never see it with your eyes...🤪
Great comparison! One of the most helpful out there.
I love the brightness of the Optoma. I would imagine that you can adjust the tint to get a more accurate colour.

Yes you can, but the UHD 65 is much more accurate
I have an Epson 4040 and got it for the lens and shift memory.
Great video. Well put together and I love the comparison. I like the 4010 as well and that's the one that's on top of my shopping list to replace my aging Epson 6010 Pro Cinema

Awesome video. I’m new to projectors and this video is very informative. BRAVO 👏
Thank you for your efforts, great video.
From the 4k side by side shots the 4010 gave the best color accuracy, contrast and sharpness from what I could see. It would be the one I would choose as well. Excellent work and thank you for the reviews.

It could be a rigged and sponsored video by Epson making other brands look like shit. I have the Viewsonic 747 and its even has HDR mode and I don't remember it being this blend.
I just bought the Optoma recently. This was an awesome and really informative review. You are a very chill person to listen to all while not skipping any great info. That’s unique man. Most of those guys are pretending they are on a game show or are to dry to watch because of their info and boring way of presenting. Thanks so freaking much. You are a good man! Keep this up.
Should have the new Benq ht3550 4k for review by end of February. Can't wait!
Great review! Nicely done! Helped me deciding on getting the 4010!

You should do another one of these comparisons with the newer models! Amazing video
wow. you put in a lot of time and effort and it shows. great video thank you!
Brilliantly done! To the point and exactly what I was hoping (looking) for. Thank you so much for making such a great content.

I am still running an older epson Cinepro 1080UB and its still performs. Gonna run it till it does, then a 5040 or the like... hopefully no time soon. Dedicated theater room, 120 screen and it impresses everyone who comes over almost 6 years after purchase.
Timely vid thanks... Projectors have lagged for a long time, especially with 4k which is the best usage case for that resolution!
Sir a good review,up&down in the voice makes review more live ,keep up the good work !
Have you tried MI Ultra Short Throw 150" laser projector? Available only at Walmart. It's not 4K but crystal clear image. Do a comparison please.
Good video. Thank you!! Will be upgrading to 4010, hopefully a good deal for Black Friday.
What a great video, thank you for putting the effort.
the new gold standard in cut to the chase, let's see what these things can do, projector reviews, extremely well done young man! my only disappointment is that you didn't show the sony footage side-by-side (panel) comparison in a dark room!
Thank you for your review. If I may add an information about the size of the beamer housing. It does matter in terms of fan noise. In general the larger the cavities for the cooling air flow is, the slower the fans rotate, hence, the beamer runs quieter.
Great, great job Nills !!! Thanks!!
Great video. Thank you for providing a quality review. You clearly put a lot of work into the review and anyone looking for a projector should check this video out
Curious the settings you used to test on each of these mainly because of the wide color differences.
Thanks for the common man explanation and experience. Well done
Both of the Epsons looked great but even just looking at your video the 4010 is something I would pick as well. I have an Epson 3700 right now and it is adequate but going to go to 4k very soon.
Thanks for a great video. You must do a rating comparison on ultra short throw projectors
This video helps a lot! Thank you.
I started out using optima projectors but they tend to become problematic and the bulb life ate bery short. Now I run the Epson 3010 no problems. I agree the Epson 4010 does have the best overall picture. Good video thumbs up to you.
Excellent review. Best of the bunch. Comparison was great
I am a epson fan ,but your test screen with the 4 running ,i could not take my eyes off the optoma screen section .look more vivid. great demo ,wish the big boys would do this with other brands all together
Thanks for helping me make up my mind about which projector to get next - an Epson 4k Enhanced! i've been researching Optoma, Benq and Epson, but i always wanted a True 4K (as native 4K was out of my price range) because many people kept hyping up the 4 phase pixel shift, but it's clear now that actual resolution is only a part of what constitutes good picture. Epson wins all the way. I suspect this has got to do with DLP being an inferior technology to LCD.
Thank you for this, really helped out with picking my next projector. You already had me subscribing from the intro tune!
Can you do an updated version of this list? Maybe include brands like benq?
thanks for the detailed review its very helpful. it would be really interesting to see how these projectors would compare to a tv quality image.
@smileychess
2 жыл бұрын
Typically darker and less contrast, but if you can control the amount of light in your room, the projectors can produce a nice image that's MUCH bigger. If you want an image that's just as good as a TV, with no compromises, then you're looking at a price of $5,000 or more.
thanks for putting in the effort sir
Now that's a proper hands on review. No stupid simulation images. Just cool clean good stuff. Nice one buddy. 😉
Been meaning to buy a projector just haven’t pulled the strings yet. I mostly do gaming. Lots of variables to think of. I didn’t mind the Optoma from the review.
I purchased a eiki lc-x85 projector and cant really find anything about it. I know it's a little older but any info I can get on it would be sweet
good review, thanks for not showing the usual pixar films, they make any tv or projector look great
Awesome video and comparison! I went with the Epson 4010 after watching this. Quick question where did you get the sony sample 4k video. Is it on KZread or an actual disc?
I wish you had the BenQ HT2550 in there but still a nice showdown none the less.
Epson colors are seriously unmatched their 3lcd technology is incredible!
Thank you, you did an awesome job doing this, regardless of them being calibrated, most people won't get them professionally calibrated. You kept it basic but descriptive. I'm trying to figure out if the 5040ub's are still being sold with power supply issues as of February 2019. If they are then I would get the 4010 untill 5060 in the future. I just want them produce good black's for Game of Thrones in April. One hell of a Superbowl commercial.
I love the side by side comparison, can you do one with the latest projectors. The current one is now 2 years old.
Good Job. I'm in the market and you did a great review.
Thanks for your time and investment in putting these reviews together. The concurrent video comparison was right on the mark.To make it nearly complete, I would suggest to add some fan noise comparison in echo and normal mode.Probably you can find some phone app to measure it by placing the smart phone at the same distance from the projectors' vent(s).
I really wanted 4K for my home theater, but for the time being I settled on the Epson 3700. It was on sale for under $1k, and my screen is only 110" anyway. So far it seems pretty good, but I can't help wondering how much I'm missing out on. But I also heard the 5040 had power supply issues, and that Optoma wouldn't have a short enough throw for my room. That 4010 seems to look really good though.
I wonder if you do an ISF Calibration on the Optima it will change your opinion?
Pro review! Nicely done.
you do comparison sheets like i do . its a good way to decide what you want
I went from a BenQ W1070 to the Epson 4010. Have to say I smile every time I fire it up :) fantastic projector 👍🏻

I have the 1070 for about 3 years...great projector....does the 4010 blow it away?
@dcknudt
5 жыл бұрын
Brian Harvey I feel like it does. The pic quality is pretty decent on the 1070, but clarity and detail, contrast level, motion, ya, I guess it blows it away pretty well. The biggest upgrade is the lens shift and all the aspects that are done in the menus. You will be very pleased with the upgrade if you choose to do so. 👍🏻

dcknudt ...appreciate it...thanks
Superb review man👍👍
Thanks you for this comparison. What I found strange, looking att this video, if I hid the twol in the middle, the most expensive to the left and the cheapest to the right looked very similar...
Great review. Only thing I think you could have added is a noise comparison. I would guess that the Epsons are larger for better cooling and quieter operation. Unfortunately it looks like the 5040UB is no longer available and the 5050UB is a crazy $1000 more than the 5010 so I think that your choice is definitely the way to go
Great job lining up the footage. That had to be a challenge. I'm surprised the 5040ub didn't seem as sharp as the 4010. Did you have the 4k enhancement on? I have a 5040ub and its super sharp, but only after I turned on the 4k enhancement. Also the Optoma is a DLP projector vs the Epson LCD projectors: hence the color difference. Alot of people say DLP is more cinematic. Great video.
I can't get screen material, what do you think of projector wall paint? @LRN2DIY
This is the way to do a proper projector video comparation 👌
great review, thanks for sharing
Great review i think you're right but I like vivid colors I'm planning to buy a cheap 1080 projector I'm leaning towards the optoma brand since I can't afford 4k thanks for the review very detailed and informative
Great video. What happens with the chip-shifting 4K basically is this: Lets say you have a 4K image as a source. Instead of projecting it full resolution natively, what it does is to divide this 4000p image in four 1080p groups, and displaying one right after the other so fast than it creates the complete full 4K image to your eyes. Again, with only 1080p max capacity.
@speardfrog1

But the input is only 1080p?
@nomms
4 жыл бұрын
@@speardfrog1 No, it's 4k.
Great video, I'm actually in the market for a projector.
Got an Optoma UHD60 for my work's conference room. Just got it setup, so too early to say much, but based on preliminary features run-thru and some visual testing, I think we're going to be really pleased. It looks like with proper HDR and other image settings calibrations, the color accuracy can be almost unmatched on these. I could tell the Epson 4 series had more pixelation than the rest. All else was nice, but those pixels... I especially hate them because coming from our old XGA projector at work, small text is virtually unreadable on our 120" projector screen. Going from XGA to UHD 4K is mind-blowing, BTW. :D :D :D
Excellent review and links!
Good video but my Epson 5040UBe does have the keystone feature hidden a little bit in the menu. It is handy for fine tuning.
From the video I agree with you on the 4010 looking the best
Great video thank you for making it. I was curious if anyone has heard of a smart projection system. They have the connected smart tvs that you just hook to your wifi and get your netflex, internet access, etc. Can that be done on projection systems?
