Ever since I was a kid, I thought this ride as a roller coaster because of how it lifts you up the hill and then down below at high speeds. That scream made me white as a ghost.

I feel like this ride looks so much cooler but scarier at night 😂

As much as I love the new ride, I will say this ride is better because of the way its able to build suspense. The fact that the building you're going through looks old with exposed pipes everywhere and how earlier in the ride you can see the boats of the riders that never made it through. Plus, when you're going through the building pipes are breaking like at 6:58 and the guy at the end shouting "GET OUT! GET OUT, ITS IN THE BUILDING" makes the drop so much scarier. In the new ride Owen and Claire just tell you to stay calm, you go through a building where mostly everything you see is just concrete wall, you go through a room with the Velociraptors, Dilos, and the Indominus (Which is admittedly pretty cool) then the T. Rex comes through the wall to fight the Indominus and you go down the drop.

As a rider of the old version, I agree. The new version is far less tensile and dramatic, just like a bland and mild "dinosaur safari".

Imagine if they kept this ride, but replaced all the old animatronics. Traumatic.

They'd better replace all of the animatronics IMO. The same ride in 1997 looked SO MUCH BETTER, but these ones are breaking down beyond repair. And not with screens.

The thing I like most about this ride is (to me personally) it felt like a casual ride that goes wrong half way through. The new ride may look way better but it doesn’t give that same feeling. I mean you know what’s coming right from the beginning. Yeah you know what’s coming with this ride also but I feel it just executes it better

Man i had a lot of incredible memories with this ride - this was my first drop - the ride broke down right before the drop one time - somebody threw a mickey mouse hat onto one of the boats and it stayed there for a month - the ride broke down and we got stuck yet again - 50% of our time at the theme park was spent waiting in line for this to where we had to set up lunch during the line - the ride broke down and we were kicked out of the line - the ride broke again, got stuck for the 4th time - jesus christ our family is pretty unlucky when on this ride

I went to this park like 7 years ago, became my favorite ride, everytime I would go with my family the ride was fine, the only thing that didn't work was the car going down, which was like one time. I would ride it again and again thus became my favorite ride. Hope the drop it's similar that it what I liked the most. Sadly I didn't go this year, didn't have no one to go with😢😄

The only thing I like better about this one is that the T-Rex was really close to you but in the newer one it is not. In this one, it gives you the illusion that you’re about to get eaten but then you escape while the newer one is like, *walks up to you* Rawr XD *you fall* *dino puts head down* “WeLl WhAtA yA kNoW tHeY eScApEd Oh No-“

I remember I was just turning 10 and I went to universeal for the first time. I got really scared, I wasn't a fan of roller coasters either so my brother said that this is a fine ride and doesn't have drops. Riding these types of immersive rides at night always added to the fantasy and made them seem more real. 🦖

I remember going on this ride as a 9 year old in 2011, since me and my family are French and did not speak English we just went on random rides with no expectation and well I wasn't expecting the big fall nor the fact that you're completely wet at the end nor that terrifying T-Rex 😆did not stop me from doing it again though. We're going back to Universal this year and I just learned the ride has been changed, I wonder how different is the new one but the old one was really immersive I think with great effects. Kind of nostalgic now

Tbh I think it was a big mistake getting rid of a gem like this. Nothing will compare to the amazing feeling of the nature and beauty and the beginning and absolute horror from falling. Amazing ride then , eh ride now 🤷‍♂️

All the animatronics were seen before they are even activated. Good idea but the ride needed a better layout and more work

I love how close you are to the trex at the end. I’d always freak out thinking my hair would catch on its teeth going down, it felt that close lol.

As long as it's not more 3D bulls**t, I'll look forward to the new ride.

Orlando didn't get rid of the original King Kong ride, it burned to the ground...still, redoing the ride as all screens was stupid and awful.

Like many of my generation, this ride and movie hold a dear and scaley place in my heart. Hooray for the original, and so awesome to see this ride at night!

I had to show my boys what version I got to ride when I was little!! The original was so awesome!

Two biggest regrets of my life: 1. Not getting a 1600 on the SAT 2. Not getting on this ride.

I remember my uncle taking me to Universal La when I was 6, and at that time, this was pretty much the only ride I actually enjoyed lol, was so scared of everything else and when I was 13, I really enjoyed this ride and a lot of other rides at Universal Orlando!!!

Wow this is absolutely brilliant! I love the dinosaur and keeper aspect but my favourite as it's so clever, the HUGE dinosaur looming overhead so everyone is distracted looking up and totally misses that they're about to plunge downwards at great speed 😮🤣💖

Jurassic Park the ride is sadly closed (I even went last saturday). But its closed because they're opening Jurassic World the ride. They say its gonna open by summer 2019, and many say it will be way bigger and better and it won't be 3d screens 😉 We all loved Jurassic Park the ride and we will love Jurassic World the ride.

We just went there. And to be honest as silly as this sounds I didnt even know. I thought I had a feeling or heard about it. I literally teared. Jurassic park was my childhood. I will still show my kids the orginal movies. My husband never got the chance for the ride. I did about 11 years ago. I honestly think its ruined now.

I have to admit, watching some of these "last rides" videos highlights just how much this poor ride needs a refurbishment. The one poor "Ultrasaurus" can't raise it's head that high anymore, they've apparently removed the baby Stegosaurus and the Parasaurolophus responsible for "knocking" your boat off course, the falling Jeep doesn't do so all that much anymore, apparently only one Dilophosaurus was "working" during the initial ride, and the Velociraptor from the ceiling is a bit "narmish." The only animatronic that still seems to be working as intended is the Tyrannosaurus just before the drop. I do kind of wish they would just update/replace the old animatronics instead of re-theming the ride to Jurassic World, but hopefully Universal and Creature Technology Company (I believe that's whose doing the animatronics) will do a good job with updating the ride.

Ultrasaurus was never in the movie, but if you listen carefully to Richard Kiley's narration as they pass the sauropods, you can hear him call them "Ultrasaurus" during the ride.

i went a few weeks ago. quite a lot of things weren't functioning at all, and some were just plain taken out. It was still nice to relive a childhood memory one last time. The t rex at the end was still amazing.

tscream80 so you think universal studios put a dinosaur on the ride people had to listen carefully to catch its name over the dinosaur that was featured prominently in the first movie. The dinosaur that made the movie come to life from the get go?? I’m glad you caught the name drop in the movie. Most don’t. But you’re reaching too far in calling that robot what it is not. That’s like saying all the robot raptors on the ride are actually herrerasaurus because if you look in Crichton’s JP book of the park map, they’re name dropped in one of the enclosures.

jbroti 004, I should have been clearer; he calls the sauropods Ultrasaurus in the attraction, not in the film (where they're clearly Brachiosaurus). Besides, this is the same ride that featured Stegosaurus and Compsognathus before they appeared in the film series (the USH ride opened in 1996; the Lost World was released in 1997) and features Psittacosaurus, which has to date never appeared in the film series. So yeah, I think Universal and the ride devs would include dinosaurs that haven't appeared in the films - especially a dinosaur that technically doesn't exist anymore (Ultrasauros, which I'm sure these "Ultrasaurs" were based on, is now synonymous with Supersaurus (which looks more like Diplodocus than Brachiosaurus)).

I remember going on this ride really young, and legitimately thinking the boat in front of me got eaten by dinosaurs and I cried so much as my dad tried to calm me down

This ride is way better than Jurassic World.

I’m so happy I was able to ride this version before the whole Jurassic world change. Jurassic Park is my all time absolute favorite movie and going to Universal for the first time I absolutely sobbed when I saw the gates. I typically hate these types of water rides but I forced myself on since it was Jurassic park (and literally the only ride they had). I got on it three more times cuz i was just so happy. When they announced the Jurassic world revamp, it was like a stab to the heart. I get the whole modernizing era and stuff and how they had to keep going with the trends but Jurassic Park is and will forever be the best one. Jurassic World is good and I already bought my ticket for the opening night in my theatre for Dominion, but it will never beat Jurassic Park.

I'm also glad that I got the chance to experience this ride 8 years ago before the whole revamp ordeal. The T-rex bit at the end traumatized me a bit as a kid, but I had so much blast. It was the ride that was definitely worth to stand in line for hours. Sadly though, I never got another chance to ride it again or visit the Universal Studios. Travelling all the way from Canada to LA wasn't cheap for my families 🙃 I just completely lost the interest when I saw the new Jurassic World ride on KZread. They've replaced bunch of the classic dinosaur animatronics with either TV screens or Indominus Rex. I feel it was so lazily done and emptier. I'll certainly not wait hours in line for that ride.

Turnt Turnip Well the animatronics were messing up already and the ride is getting old. It is necessary for them to close the entire ride and work on it without the drag of having to make way for people while working.

Chris P Yeah. When you look at older videos from when it first opened the latex and material used for the skin and teeth of the animatronics looked allot better. They wore out over time, which kinda makes them look faker.

To be fair. This ride was OLD and they didn't really take care of it at all. I hate to see old rides go but if this means even better dinosaur animatronics then at least it's a good trade.

@kachow I think Universal learned that screens are boring as fuck already. I mean I'm more of a disney park goer so who knows. I felt so bad looking at the old animatronics in jurassic park. They just looked tired. Like when a pet is dying and they just look at you like "Its okay. It's my time to go"

Brings back memories, went there in 2007. It looked better then of course lol. Glad they are renewing the ride.

I'm glad they revamped it because you could see how rex was harnessed. In the new one it's hard to tell which makes it more believable, which in turn makes it more thrilling

For everyone in the comments who think that they are tearing down this ride to use the land for something else, they’re not. They are just retheming the existing ride to make it a Jurassic World ride rather than a Jurassic Park ride.

Horse lover TBH they needed to fix it, it was so janky and the animatronics were too old and not to mention the technology was old as well, having multiple enormous advanced modern animatronics are way too expensive so I only expect to see one. Screens are a good substitute for now untill new technology comes out.

It won’t be screens guys, Universal Learned their lesson with fast and furious.

I went on this ride while it was still Jurassic Park and not gonna lie, the t-rex suddenly popping out in your face was pretty scary lol. You could almost touch it, definitely made you push back in your seat. Great times!!!

I miss it so much:( I wish I got to ride it again before it closed. This was my favorite as a dinosaur kid

my dad and I would ride Jurassic park like 10 times every time we went to universal so it was a big part of my childhood, gonna miss it :"((

ZACHARY Stetz I don’t think so. I was in Florida Universal in December and it wasn’t close, and really didn’t say anything if it was going to close. Only thing I know is that there will be a new Harry Potter ride. But it was in December so it could change. 🤷‍♀️

I work at universal orlando and for the moment they wont change it. They plan to change it after jurassic world roller coaster opens

My grandma told me that when she went for a family trip that she and her family were all at the front and they saw the huge dinosaur before the drop and they screamed then as the ride went down the slope she felt like she was going to fall off lol XD

I grew up near the Vekoma. When is was in middle school they did test runs for the drop. So for a week I watch them do that every day.

Nice throwback! I'd love to ride the new version now day :)

When i went on this ride somebody working there must of been real bored of thier job cause it went from the nice and calm Jurassic park theme song then quickly changed to 'welcome to the jungle' by guns & roses. i thought it was the most random thing ever and funny.
