The Hummingbird Trail offers a stunning hike through the Rocky Peak landscape located near Simi Valley, and leads you to a peak with a swing/hammock hidden inside a colorful, graffiti cave. While it’s only a 4-mile loop, it involves a continuous incline and some rock scrambling which can be both challenging and dangerous. Once you get to the cave, you’ll see why it’s absolutely worth it for those sweeping views.
During spring time, you’ll also get to enjoy wildflowers along the route. This graffitied cave and its swing/hammock is a popular spot because of the incredible views, so you may want to plan your trip for the early mornings when there are fewer people.
The Hummingbird Trail allows hikers the opportunity to get up close looks at some great geology while enjoying wide-ranging views of the Simi Valley area.
The cave is also covered in netting and there's a little hammock hanging from the stone.
The inside of the cave itself is almost as enchanting as the views - this is one colorful cave. The views of the mountainous desert valley from the cave are mesmerizing, making the trek totally worth the effort.
The climbs are steep, so if you do choose to make this trek yourself, you've got to be really careful on your way there and make sure you bring the right materials. To get to the swing in the cave, you've got to follow the signs leading to it, or risk getting lost.
Hidden in a cave in the hills of Rocky Peak Park in Simi Valley, California is a swing inside of a graffitied cave and it is nothing short of absolutely breathtaking. The swing is attached to the top of the cave and swings out over the valley below, in a mix of something beautiful and terrifying.
The trek getting to this secret cave and its swing isn't easy, as it's a four-mile-long loop trail that, much of the time, has you hiking steep inclines, that sometimes require a rope.

Hi Suri- fun to learn about this Secret Cave!! Wow, it's very colorful and a great destination for views of the valley below! I'm not sure I would take advantage of the swing though... lol. Great trail over the rock landscape, nice that there are ropes to help.... pretty wildflowers!! :)

Thanks Jenn. It’s a short hike - 3.2 mile roundtrip - but the elevation gain is over 1200 feet. You have to scramble the rocks a little bit, but it’s totally worth the climb for the valley view below and the Mountain View from inside the cave. I am not a fan of graffiti though I liked the artists talent. It’s such a nice hike during spring as you can see lots of wildflowers. During summer, the temp can hit over 100’ and there are no shades and you have to carry lot of water for this hike. Thanks for watching.
